I've tried a lot of mics, mainly from Neumann, but the sound of my now Manley Reference is the one I want to stuck forever! As I record only vocals, that exactly what I wanted. I wish in the future to get the Gold version, as it sounds even better! But as now, I the Reference will be my only and only one.

Hi, I’m using the latest version of Ref.C Can I use the nos telefunken 12at7 tube for Ref.C?
You can... it will work. Whether or not it will be quieter pro perform better than what we installed in there will be for you to determine!
