I think the fact that we all see Jane as a lying, cheating, selfish cow means the actress did a really good job, like Simmerson or Hakeswill, hate the character: love the actress and the way the role is played. Bravo.
The actor who played tounge apparently fell in love with the actress who played Terasa, but she (the actress) in short didnt like him back, he couldnt work on set with her been there so he left. Thats what i heard from a good source on set.
King Louis Phillipe? Some one didn't do their research, Louie the !8th was Napoleon's sucessor. It was not until the july revolution that Louis Phillipe, Duke of Orleans took the French throne.
Quite right. Louis XVIII was succeeded upon his death in 1824 by his brother, le Duc d'Anjou, who became Charles X. The revolution of 1830 overthrew Charles and installed Louis Philippe, who was thrown out in 1948 by the revolution which installed Emperor Napoleon III.
Biggest mistake Sharpe ever made in his life was to trust that harlot Jane and give her legal documents to all his money....although I must say Abigail Cruttendale DOES have a really great rack! I certainly separate the part she played in the movie from real life, she's a really terrific actress.
Thank s for the info, Opinionman93! I think I'll check out everything you've just reccomended, though probably the archer based ones first - I want to finish watching Sharpe so I've compleatly ruined the story for when I read the books :) ...There's something majestic about raining hundreds of thousands of arrows on your enemy which makes for an interesting read!
a common thing, among untrained cannoneers. if they don't press the powder hard enough, not everything explodes right away, and the first explosion ignites the second, as soon as there is oxigen in the barrel again.
Thank you soooo much for uploading these :-)))))))....I realy like these good UK war-costume-action-dramas like the sharpe films unlike a lot of crappy US action sh*t with explosions portraied of today!
@Dogmeat1950 Very true, it was rather back and forth. I just find it irony that our greatest victory on land was won, after the war was actually over, and had been for about three weeks. I have enjoyed our debate, my friend, and I applaud your knowledge of History. It is truly a rare honor to meet some one who's knowledge of the subject is a match for my own. Thank you, sir.
I'm not all that sure but I think the green meant that man was a piper. and he did have bagpipes. If you look @ 7:22 when Frederickson starts to laugh. just opposite the screen at the edge past Harper's face you can see the pipes.
Would you reccomend the sharpe novels? The only Cornwell I've read is 'Azincourt', and quite fine it was - guresome in the description of battle. I'd hope and assume the Sharpes are just as gory and vivid in their description of battle. Would you say so? As someone who's read
These fictional ladies give truth to the most offhandedly misogynistic statement I ever heard uttered. My ex gf's dad (twice divorced) sharing a pearl of wisdom regarding women with his youngest son (about ten at the time) "Snakes with Tits, that's all they are". Lol. Years later it still makes me chuckle.
@Rushy1989 I am General Calvert of his Imperial Majesties guard and I love that Sharpe fellow good soldier he is... do not compare me and my poor Gaston to those 3 cretins who dislike this video... we ate men like that in Russia. Though in Lousiana there is food a plenty shame his Majesty lost but me and Gaston like Sharpe and Harper survived the war to be great men. :D
oh gosh I got the names confused, sorry. I meant Teresa. Really tho, If I was married to Teresa and she was killed, hands down Id never marry again. She was so bad, mountain fighting guerrilla style and beautiful. This girl does not even come close to living up
The info in the intro is wrong, king Louis Philippe didn't become king until 1830. It should have said Louis XVIII. But there were a few other factors apart from Toulouse from falling for this to happen
@ThePalnik because they don't create stunning visual explosions making it harder for them to show it... otherwise all you would see is the cannon go off then a bunch of extras fall do screaming leaving a lot of viewers confused
@Dogmeat1950 yeah, and the soldiers freed up from fighting the French, immediately get shipped to America, where they will proceed to continue to embarrass the American Army until the Battle of New Orleans, where they will get their asses handed to them by a band of frontiersmen, freed slaves, Indians and pirates. Irony.
does anyone know the order the series? I can't keep up with the change of women in Sharpe's life: Teresa, then jane was it? then Ms Gibbons. andnow it's Lucille a french woman? when did he go to Normandy? Am really confused.
Theresa was first killed by the munity. Then the evil Jane and final Lucille who gives him a son who appears in the starbuck series set in America civil war
Theresa was first killed by the munity. Then the evil Jane and final Lucille who gives him a son who appears in the starbuck series set in America civil war
I think Sharpe is not the only one who went into battle today. Bravo I am sure both sides lost many soldiers on this comment page.... Bonaparte would be proud, as would Lieutenant General Calvet, you all fought to the end. I wont say encore though.... *shakes head* For the record besides being pretty and cute Sharpe married her to save her from her family. She would have done well to remember that, and that actually as a national hero she was well below his station.. countess anyone?;)
No. 1812 turned out to be a draw which mantained the status quo ante bellum with the Treaty of Ghent. The British failed in the NY and New Orleans invasions, and the US failed to take Canada. Both sides won in a sense though. The US wiped out the British indian allies, assuring a clear path to westward expansion. The British regained lost territories with the treaty, and were able to lessen taxes at home levied to offset US privateer raids on trading and could concentrate on Europe's frnt
@11Cheesewaffles he hasn't, she's adopted by her mother's family and he never sees her again (though he does also have two more children which arn't mentioned in the TV series)
@Dogmeat1950 Ah ha, very true, but it is a proven fact that the British Army was winning most of the battles on land, while we held the advantage at sea, as our Navy had been bloodied and tested in our conflict with the Barbary pirates of North Africa. And while it is true that the Army that burned D.C. was later defeated at Ft. McHenry, commanded by Lt. Colonel George Armistead of Virginia, the soldiers that attacked New Orleans and fought the battle on Jan 15, 1815 were veterans of Waterloo.
Reserved certainly, but the sharpe in the novels is still noble. He also comes across as a lot more terrifying in battle than anything sean bean can come up with
I think the fact that we all see Jane as a lying, cheating, selfish cow means the actress did a really good job, like Simmerson or Hakeswill, hate the character: love the actress and the way the role is played. Bravo.
92ladderley the more you hate them the better the actress/actor
She didn't exactly 'lie', she told him what she was gonna do and she did it. If anything, she carried through with what she said she'll do.
Tao Liu She never told him that she would clear out his bank account and run off with another fella
The actress who played Jane later married Sean Bean and had a kid but they went through a divorce.
I like this series! Kinda like a land based Hornblower. Which is another series I'd like to see them make again!!
The actor who played tounge apparently fell in love with the actress who played Terasa, but she (the actress) in short didnt like him back, he couldnt work on set with her been there so he left. Thats what i heard from a good source on set.
What a shame, never mind.
I am in love with Lucille, the epitome of French Womanhood!!!!
"Wellington wants you to take that hill for him, and I hate you for it!!"
LOL :)
I absolutely love this series!
Jane Gibbons is the niece of Simmerson. You can't trust them, Sharpe. Don't give Jane your money!
King Louis Phillipe? Some one didn't do their research, Louie the !8th was Napoleon's sucessor. It was not until the july revolution that Louis Phillipe, Duke of Orleans took the French throne.

That was a horrible hill to die on. . . Just horrible.
Now that's soldiering, AND he'll have you flogged. The past was the worst, etc.
Biggest mistake Sharpe ever made in his life was to trust that harlot Jane and give her legal documents to all his money....although I must say Abigail Cruttendale DOES have a really great rack! I certainly separate the part she played in the movie from real life, she's a really terrific actress.
Thanks for posting this! I have not seen this one as yet.
THE MINUTE A MAN GIVES HIS HEART TO A WOMAN HE LOSES HIS MIND-JULIUS K MORGAN

3:03
Wow! Where did Sharpe acquire such penmanship?
he could use his sword on her scabbard too
Lots of reports writing
Thank you soooo much for uploading these :-)))))))....I realy like these good UK war-costume-action-dramas like the sharpe films unlike a lot of crappy US action sh*t with explosions portraied of today!
7:19, that laugh from Sweet William basically means ''Tosser'' lol

Calvet, you've grown more hair since last time. :D
SWEET BLOODY WILLIAM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hate to point this out, but this was made in 1997. It's been touched up for DVD release, but it's still before "HD" time. Only saying.
I'm not all that sure but I think the green meant that man was a piper. and he did have bagpipes. If you look @ 7:22 when Frederickson starts to laugh. just opposite the screen at the edge past Harper's face you can see the pipes.

As someone who's read
...I'm curious if, in 1814, when British were fighting Nepolean , , were both sides wearing beaver skin hats...
7:53 that mortar shot twice lol

Where was Sharpe filmed? All the foreign location look the same
6:11 I wouldn't joke about that Richard! LOL

jeese, that widow lady is just... wow
oh gosh I got the names confused, sorry. I meant Teresa. Really tho, If I was married to Teresa and she was killed, hands down Id never marry again. She was so bad, mountain fighting guerrilla style and beautiful. This girl does not even come close to living up
i just bought the book!!!
I'm lovin' it! :D
Cooper's actor left after Sharpe's Gold (don't know why) and IDK about Tongue.
Cooper's apparently killed in the novels.
The info in the intro is wrong, king Louis Philippe didn't become king until 1830. It should have said Louis XVIII. But there were a few other factors apart from Toulouse from falling for this to happen
As badass and smart as Sharpe is, ultimately, he too, is a simp. 😢
Shopping list already Jane?
@ThePalnik because they don't create stunning visual explosions making it harder for them to show it... otherwise all you would see is the cannon go off then a bunch of extras fall do screaming leaving a lot of viewers confused
@Obraxes what really happend is that Paul Trussell really didn't want to play the part of tounge anymore so he just lefted.
Why in these battles do the French cannons never use canister fire???
Well said, sir, I say! Well said!
Rule number 1: never give a woman control over your money! thats the first misstake
sharpe is asavage soldier of the empire and we have our own today armed witht he latest and it explodes and kills

I'm sorry, I only say this cause I love this series so much, but how does sharpe go from ramona to this girl?? and what happened to his daughter?
For some reason when I see Gaston I think of him as a french Sgt Schultz.
Same here :-) ...I hear nooothing, I zeeee nooothing, I know nooothing...and fo#ke you, Major Hochstetter.
Which Sharpe book, is the one where he goes to America?
I think Sharpe is not the only one who went into battle today. Bravo I am sure both sides lost many soldiers on this comment page....

I had say this before, but again: "Thank you" ^_^
@ 7:26 there's a highlander in green. Did they ever wear green?
Did they make a movie of that?

sweet willy!!!!!!
Why did that mortar fire twice?
hate to point out but this would been better if it was in HD only saying
and why the hell didn't they send the sharpshooters up before the brigade charged the hill the first time to pick on the artillery?? very poor command
Personally...
I'd have left my cash to:
a) Harper
b) Hagman
c) Harris
and only THEN the wifey. lol
i just luve that name lol
I guess next chapter its going to be Sharpe himselfe to be replaced...lol
Karma gets her in the end!
king Louis Philippe? Louis the 18th that is
Still complaining about the electric god knows what it's pretty good tho
Empire waists FTW!
hmmmmm well i hope at one point they make a HD version would be better
Not quite accurate. Napoleon had already abdicated - before Toulouse. But news hadn’t reached the combatants. Many died for nothing

She looks far too French. Good riddance.

Reserved certainly, but the sharpe in the novels is still noble. He also comes across as a lot more terrifying in battle than anything sean bean can come up with
why do they keep on replacing actors!!!! It's soooo stupid!!! And what happened to Cooper and Tounge

As bad as Jane screws Sharpe over, the misogyny is rather disturbing on the comments here.
