As kindly pointed out by our viewer _equinoX_ - the dishwasher symbol is incorrect. The correct symbol is two plates with water.

In Australia, there are Aluminium safe dishwasher detergent available:-
      e.g.
      1. Suma Alu L10 Machine Dishwashing Detergent
      2. NAN Machine Dishwashing Liquid (Aluminium Safe)
      3. Osmos Aluminium-Safe Dishwasher Detergent
      In India,
      A youtuber from India found
"Fortune Dishwasher tablets" to be Aluminium Safe
If you have a LG dishwasher with Truesteam, you could actually wash aluminium, copper vessels with Steam in the dishwasher WITHOUT using any detergent.

Most airtight stainless steel/glass containers have lids which contain plastic locking mechanisms with rubber gaskets. What about these lids and the plastic parts? Are they dishwasher safe or do they get damaged/discolored?
Also tupperwares which have dishwasher safe symbol - could the lids of these be unsafe?

Thank you for your video. I'm planning to watch the others too shortly. I have recently purchased an IFB dishwasher and experimented with different types of vessels. I have not encountered any problems while using melamine plates and heavy aluminum kadai-s in it. I usually keep it on Eco mode where the water temperature is at 50°C .
While I find the dishwasher to be useful on the whole, I am very disappointed when it comes to stainless steel vessels in which milk was boiled or rice was cooked. Can you please suggest what I can do?

    • @TheGrapevineIndia
      @TheGrapevineIndia  3 года назад +2

Hi Prema, thank you for your feedback! While you may not see visible changes, dishwasher manufacturers recommend not to use aluminium due to chemical reaction. I have made a video regarding the same here ruclips.net/video/0iv1S7rlGbw/видео.html. Regarding melamine, again the reaction will not be visible. If you are using good quality melamine and the melamine manufacturer says it is dishwasher safe - it's OK to use it. Else, Melamine is inherently plastic - which does not react well to heat and if exposed, the plastic seeps into our food when used.
About stainless steel vessels - what is the issue you are facing? There are few things to check:
      1. Are you keeping it in the bottom tray? That's where the heat is the most and is required to remove tough stains.
      2. Try a different cycle - try to use an intensive cycle and see if it solves the problem
      3. Check your hard water settings and salt settings. If salt is inadequate, you may still face white stains or residue in your vessels.
I predominantly use the auto mode - with Finish dishwasher tablet and do not have any issues. Sometimes there is white staining - at which point I check my salt settings.
Let me know if these solve the issue.

@@TheGrapevineIndia Thank you so much for your prompt response. I will henceforth stop using Aluminium and melamine dishes in the dishwasher and switch to stainless steel. I did watch your other detailed video about it.
My main issue with the milk vessels is that the milk residues are not coming off . I still need to scrub them with a metal scrubber. Also, though I take care to scrape off all adhered rice and I also soak the rice vessel as soon as its empty, the thing doesn't get washed properly. I do not believe its due to water quality because the municipal water quality in Mumbai is very good compared to most other cities. Even the spoons used to serve rice have marks on them.

If the aluminium is an exposed surface - its recommended not to put it in the dishwasher as it harms the metal (more details here ruclips.net/video/0iv1S7rlGbw/видео.html). If it is a layer between steel (which is what you may see in some vessels to leverage its heat conductivity) then its fine to use in the dishwasher. Hope that’s clear!

1)My steel glass comes out pretty clean from dishwasher and there seem no traces of soap however when i pour water from filter i can see white foam on sides of water which is not much but doesnt seem apt for drinking and if i try the same with handwashed steel glasses the foam doesnt show and only few water bubbles can be seen..i dont put too much detergent also otherwise it would show .now everytime i take glasses out of dishwasher i rinse it with hand and then drink because of that foam thing..
    2) secondly i wanted to ask that if u put stainless steel kadhai does it comes out shiny and fully cleaned from inside? Im a little dissapointed with kadhai wash..my kadhai is getting washed but its quite dull from inside..outside its shiney but inside The colour is not uniform..it feels cloudy and dull..have u faved such issue and what should be done in such case? 2. What tablet/detergent are you using? I often use Finish and don't have this issue. Recently I started using this - amzn.to/3hDotcL and the results are even better. I did a giveaway in this video ruclips.net/video/DD1N25H6Yek/видео.html of this product and other people that used it also found their kadais and other vessels quite shiny. I think it may be due to the detergent/tablet you are using.

My dishes are getting a Little soapy after wash. What can be the reason? Shall I use less of detergent or is there anything else i should fix. I'm quite concerned about it, as there is still a bit of dissatisfaction after the usage.

Great video.. But I cant agree with two points.. Pressure cooker lid and Tupperware.. I am cleaning both my pressure cooker s lid in dishwasher.. All I do is remove gasket and vessel.. I also wash Tupperware containers.. Milk malai container once in 15 days and pulses containers, which I have a set of some 24 😂.. I also have 2-3 small containers which I use to store left over food or fulka dough.. Wash it next day .. No problem so far..

Hi Mayuri! Thanks for sharing 😊 Pressure cooker lid just have to be a bit careful to see no food particles are lodged in the pressure outlet and the safety valve does not get damaged. More from a safety point of view than the material itself getting damaged. Agreed on tupperware- previous generation of tupperwares were not dw safe. Most of the current generation are - just have to make sure that it is marked dw safe. What’s a malai container? 😊 sounds interesting, never used one. Will look it up and buy if it works for me!

This is a very very very important Vlog post everyone must watch before purchasing any Dishwasher. Hi Ashish - while it's true many materials like aluminum and non-stick - which we use predominantly in Indian kitchen, small adjustments will make a dishwasher very useful! In any case - using aluminum and non-stick is not good - so maybe consider it a change for the better? :)
