Zephyr

Zephyr explores the space between us, the invisible process that connects all life forms - breath. This project brings awareness to this contemplative, meditative action by listening to the viewer, reacting individually and collectively.

When was the last time you noticed your breath? What do we exchange with the world around us while we breathe? How does breathing affect our movement? The kinetic installation Zephyr explores the act of breathing, the invisible connection between us and the environment. This project hopes to bring awareness to this invisible exchange, and acknowledge the deep respect for coexistence that is vital to all life.
Technical:
Each Zephyr installation consists of a grouping of independent modules, allowing any one installation to grow or shrink to fit any space. Each module contains two separate motion control systems, allowing adjustment of the overall height of the individual Zephyr independently from it’s opening movement. This independent control allows for limitless variation throughout the duration of the installation. Additionally, discretely placed sensors activate the installation based on visitor’s movement and breath.
The entire software system is made with #touchdesigner.

with touchdesigner do you control the DMX? do the objects have a magnet at the base? btw really cool project

only the lights are DMX. the motors we made custom control system. No magnets in the base, just motors up top.
