My uncle was aboard the hood about a week before she was sunk. My uncle was meant be aboard as a gunner. But was transferred. Same as his next ship. Ironically he was at the battle when the Bismarck was destroyed. He told me when she went down he told his men they could now rest.

Interesting. The Bismarck not only was famous for the background and its sinking, but also because it was the most deepest wreckage ever seen. Even the place where the Titanic rests is a child play in comparison with the place where the Bismarck rests, in terms of depth.
@@timber_wulf5775 I'm aware of that. 6000 metres deep, right? That's why I said "it was" back then. But the Johnston is only the first of some wreckages that surpassed the Bismarck in terms of depth.
I think you got the for mast installed backwards. It's behind the superstructure, not before it. Also, by the time Biz capsizing, it's superstructure and upper deck was pretty much ravaged by the 16" and 14" and medium calibre AP shells from Rodney and KGV and escort cruisers. There's probably not an inch intact surface....twisted metal, holes, cracks everywhere....The only recognizable part of the superstructure was the armored citadel below the conning tower. The citadel also has 16" holes shown in Cameron's Biz documentary film.
Yes, seeing the film of it at the bottom of the ocean would provide a lot more detail. I can’t remember if the stern detached itself after hitting the sea floor or before. Lack of railings is a big oversight, but most of them would have been twisted or missing. It also had great big swastikas on the foredeck and stern.
@@nostrildamusmctavish5542 The stern got swept away while it descends to the abyss. So it's still attached to the hull when it's still capsizing. I think most of the structures above the main deck is hardly recognizable at this point, except for the 4 main turrets and the armored citadel. Lifeboats, search lights, range finders, flak guns, all gone or so ravaged not even recognizable...Both masts were probably twisted or bent by the 16"/14" shell shockwaves and shrapnels if not completely shredded already. Rodney and KGV were firing at point-blank range(prob less than 5000 yards) right before the Biz crew decide to scuttle the ship to end their misery.
@@nostrildamusmctavish5542 Good looking diorama. Nice work! I couldn't see the details on the jammed rudder. I hope you captured that. It's the key "point of interest" for this diorama. Without the jammed rudder, there wouldn't have been a capsizing scene, right? 🙂
@@spoookee1280 serious modelling requires good research. To the trained eye, this diorama is mediocre any way you see it. Absolutely incredible, if its possible you seem to get better and better with every project!! I really love historical dioramas, so meaningful. I was thinking, wouldn't it work out cheaper in the long run to get a 3D printer? I know these model kits are very expensive and you could just print what you want when you want 🤗
true but on some websites it cost a bit of money just to download for example a certain model ive been looking at of the bismarck costs 56$ just to be able to download it
Impressive and even astounding! The only think I might add is that it would be nice to have the damage displayed and also perhaps some floating wreckage and something to simulate the oil spill! But it is a rather excellent effort! Keep up the good work
Impressive display piece. I can definitely recommend the Flyhawk 1/700 Bismarck if you do want to make a second, more detailed, version but to be honest the Meng kit is amazing for a snap together model and if you added the Eduard PE railings, ships ladders and radars to that you'd get the refinement you're looking for without having to spend months working on the model.
Excellent idea and work! One constructive comment (maybe): I would have detailed the the 'bottom' of the sinking turrets, if you are exposing them from that perspective. Beside this, absolutely fine work! Congrats!
The focus in this diorama is on the sinking Bismarch, dislodging her turrets. But there's no battle damage to look at. A wasted opportunity for immersion. The same goes for the turrets. You have the animation, showing what the turret parts in the ship's hull looked like and yet the visible underside of these turrets haven't been processed to look the part. I know you've put a lot of effort into that (don't know how much since I make neither RUclips videos nor models) but I just wanted to point out details that might help make future projects more immersive
King of the Ocean, he was made to rule the waves across the seven seas! To lead the Warmachine, to rule the waves and lead the Kriegrsmarine! The terror of the seas! The Bismarck and The Kriegsmarine!
I really like this diorama man, you should of included the damaged rudder, which was damaged by torpedo fire from the Gladiators that attacked the Bismarck, which effected it's stearing and speed. Such a tragic end to such an amazing battleship. It was also a tragic loss for the British Navy when Bismarck Destroyed HMS Hood with a lucky placed shell that hit the chimney stack, destroying it with one hit, as it's armour was still getting reinforced, but was called into action to hunt the Bismarck, if it was fully fitted with the armour plating, HMS Hood could of sunken the Bismarck.
Even without the damage from torpedoes and shells, explosions and fires ... and without hundreds of human ants fighting for life in the cold Atlantic ... I have to admit that your work brings the atmosphere. Instead of the crew you put Bismarck's boats, but for sure most of them could not be launched after hundreds of shell hits from point blank range. Also, photos of sinking Bismarck show slightly more rough sea state, with some foam forming. That's all the whining from me, generally great work!
I see why your doing what your doing some of these models some prices are crazy ,, I use to get a model car for 7 .00 now their 30..00 for a car crazy thing ever , This is one way to protect the model ever getting messed up ,,,,what great way to show them off too...
Each job requires a lot of effort and time. I set the price high because I don't think my efforts are cheap and I'm not upset if they don't sell because they're still with me.
Great job and wel made, but I'm missing some some shell impact hits on the ship, and the bismarck was hit by many of them. But any way fantastic model.
