- Rabindranath Tagore's three short stories served as the inspiration for Satyajit Ray's 1961 Bengali anthology film Teen Kanya. Here presenting the third in the anthology 'Samapti'

@@Voicefromthepast Yes I am aware of “Bollywood” terminology. My point being that I actually prefer those kind of movies but this film was so captivating that I gained a completely different experience and still connected emotionally without singing and dancing. A more “visceral emotional” experience in my opinion.

This story is part of teenkonya- translated as '3 girls'. Having three different stories - postmaster, samapti, monihara.. all simply wonderful. When i was young i remember I used to be scared with the last one. I just wish we had these golden days back..
Sometime during the early 1990s this movie was telecasted on Delhi Doordarshan after 8.30 pm news. I had watched it till the end, thanks to the subtitles. I liked the movie immensely.
I know .even the dramas . but not broadcasted again..

This is a wonderful movie.l have seen its Hindi version ' uphaar'. Tagore is my favourite author. I read everything he has written & watch each & every movie or tele serial based on his stories. I wish l could read the original Bangla versions .
Super movie from India's best director Satyajit Ray and story of nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and best hero Soumitra Chatterjee and veteran actress Aparna Sen(now excellent director) with lively acting of hero' s mother... Wonderful movie. English subtitles gave us immense understanding of the movie. Thank you RUclips. Due to you with English subtitles everybody could enjoy classic and masterpiece movie.

@@SunitaPrasad-xf9yu haven’t seen that movie, it is a remake of this one!! The same story is used in the TV show, the stories by Rabindra Nath Tagore from Anurag Basu that one is also good.

I think, this is the 2nd part of Teen Kanya. The last part is Monihara. I may be wrong as l have seen the movie long time back. All the 3 part are outstanding.

Actually this is the original, and is based on the short story by the same name by Rabindranath Tagore. The Hindi version (both Uphaar and another one named Abodh) was made later.

কী অসাধারণ অভিনয় চিত্রপট ! দেখে খুব মুগ্ধ হলেম ।
ভালো লাগলো। মৃন্ময়ীর বাবার অনুপস্থিতিতে ওই জায়গাটা খালি লাগলো।
আমার ছোট বেলায় দেখা এই অসাধারণ মুভির নায়ক -নায়িকার যে নিষ্কাম প্রেম ফুটেছে, সেটা অনবদ্য। যেন বিরহের বিষের জ্বালা মিলনে অনন্ত অতৃপ্তি।

বিশ্বকবি রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের "সমাপ্তি" ছোটগল্পটি কৈশোরে পাঠ্যক্রমের আওতাভুক্ত ছিল না,ছিল "হৈমন্তী"। তবে সৌভাগ্য হয়েছিল খুবই অবুঝ বয়সে তাঁর "গল্পগুচ্ছ" ২খণ্ডই সম্পূর্ণরূপে পড়ার।পুস্তকের বর্ণনা বা ভাষার বৈশিষ্ট্য বা মাধুর্য্যের সঙ্গে চলচ্চিত্রায়নের সাজুয্য বা আমেজের সঠিক প্রতিফলন খূঁজে পাওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে কিছুটা তারতম্য থাকে বৈকি!যেমন কবিতা পড়া এবং কবিতার আবৃত্তি শোনা একরকম হয়না।তাছাড়া ব্যক্তিকেন্দ্রিক অনুভব-অনুভূতিতেও ঢের তফাৎ থাকে।রাবীন্দ্রিক বর্ণনার ঢং এবং তার যথাযথ চলচ্চিত্রায়নের ক্ষেত্রেও সঙ্গত কারণেই কিছুটা তারতম্য থাকাও অবান্তর বা অসমীচীন নয়! তবুও সর্বসাকুল্যে দুই রকমের ভাললাগা র'য়ে গেল!
আগের দিনের ছবিগুলো অসম্ভব সুন্দর সিনেমাতে জীবন্ত পাসপোর্ট তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। কিন্তু আগের দিনের মা-বাবারা ছিলেন আমরা যেটা পছন্দ করে দেবো বিয়ে করতে হবে তোমাদের কোন মতামত লাগবে না আসলে তখনকার সময় সেই যোগ হিসেবে সবাই মেনে নিতেন সুখী হতেন। এখন ২০০০ সালের পর থেকে বাবা-মার পছন্দ তো থাকেই না নিজেরা পছন্দ হয় কিছুদিন সংসার হয় আবার ছাড়াছাড়ি এটাও ভালো লাগেনা কিন্তু হাত দিয়ে যেভাবেই হোক বাবা-মার পছন্দ হোক বা নিজেদের পছন্দ হোক সেটাকে টিকিয়ে রাখতে হবে সেটার উপরেই ভালোবেসে যেতে হবে সেটা বড়ই নিয়ামত রহমত বরকত। ❤👌👌👌💞🇧🇩

এই গল্পটা যে কতবার পড়েছি! এতোবার পড়েছি যে অনেক বর্ণনাও মনে আছে। এবং চোখেও লাগছে সেকারণে অনেক কিছু। যেমন অপূর্ব যখন প্রথমবার (গল্পে) গ্রামে এসে নৌকা থেকে নামে তখন মৃন্ময়ী বসে ছিল ইটের পাজরায়। এই ইটের পাজরাটা গল্পে একটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মুহূর্তে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হয়ে ওঠে। এখানে দেখলাম, নেই সেটা। মৃন্ময়ী বরং বসে আছে একটা চালার নিচে। এসব অবশ্য পরিচালকের স্বাধীনতা। তবে বেটার হতো গল্পটা অনুসারে নির্মিত হলে
