- Shot in Fort Lauderdale/ Davie, FL. Probably the most fun vehicle on the planet to drive. Doesn't quite fit in parking garages or drive-thru's.
EX-US ARMY 1984 M923 A1
49" tires, cummins NHC-250 Engine, Zombie apocalypse ready!
It even gets 10mpg while running over your mom's Prius. :)
This truck is in pristine condition. Outstanding!
I put over 25,000 accident free miles on a 2-1/2 Ton AM General in Germany, also put extenions on breather and exhust and drove one across a lake at Ft. Polk, La. I have had one in 3 feet of snow with no problems. I wish I had one!
Man, this truck is awesome! whenever i get one of these rig's i just hope this video is still up, so i can remember exactly what i wanted my 923 to look like.
We brought our same military truck to our local Home depot to buy some wood and there was tons of people asking us questions about it. It is scary driving it on the highway at 55 mph.
49/1400×20 Tires will do that, give you 52-55 MPH.But the M939 5 Ton Trucks are honestly rated for 63-65 MPH.It's just your Tire Size that declines it.A 5 Ton Truck with G177/1100×20 Tires can do 64-65 MPH easy all day. It's a if and when with 53/1200×20 CTIS Tires. The Governor Springs on some of these Series of 5 Ton can be clicked to make them do 70-71 MPH,but I don't recommend that at all with any 5 Ton Truck or any Military Truck period. The NHC-250 Cummins and 6CTA Cummins can only do 2,100-2,200 RPM's.A Inline Six isn't made for high RPM or Speed.
Totally different beast, but I imagine similar scariness to riding a beat-up cheap Chinese scooter with bald tires and no brakes at 40mph in the rain because it was that or walk and I was tired of walking.
Holy hell! That's a massive truck I want to have one! AC/DC War Machine would've been a better music
Oh good god the sound of that engine is enough to make you go weak at the knees. What a wonderful piece of kit. 2 Things I love from America are your Pickups and your military trucks. I've seen some of these on sale here in the UK, and if I had any money at all, I'd throw the money at the seller to get it. I like these as much as I like the Foden IMMLC and that's saying something! Awesome vid man.
Wow - best video of one of our trucks that I have EVER seen Brian! Love it! Let me know when you're ready for a 7-ton or an 8X8 HET with am M927 Bed (246,000 GVW - no problem moving one of your M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank's around;-). Best, -Steve
Well as my dad said, "You park where ever the fuck you want."
Fine buisiness, boy. Respect. We have here in France by the "Broken Wheel Ranch" the same Equipment. You` re an excellent driver. Congratulations.
beautiful, beautiful truck, amazing engine sound, super
I love that this is all on camera. The other cars on the road look so tiny! I'm totally looking forward to getting my flavor of 5-ton military surplus :)
I'd like to hear more engine and less stupid POD.
Screw the gas! This thing looks like so much fun I’m buying one.
Talk about hogging up the lane!!! 😎
I bought mine for 7,000 out the door at Government liquidation including shipping.
I like the black on the front end of that truck. Sharp!
As long as the loaded capacity is 26,000 lbs or less, you do not need a cdl. Beyond this weight, there are exemptions for RVs, horse hauling and farm use. This model specs at 32,000 loaded. So to drive it without a Commercial Drivers License you would need to make it into an RV. As far as I know, these are the federal rules which don't vary much from state to state.
That is a great video nothing like rollin in a 25k lb truck in sunny FLA!
It entirely depends on which state, most states it is ok as long as the towing capasity is 10,000 or less, so five ton trucks are your limit
Nice truck. I like the black painting.
Music is also oke.
a warning light comes on if you go over 55 miles per hour.
These trucks max out at 63-65 MPH.
Only thing missing is a nice set or air horns, :-) Great vehicle, lookin good.
These trucks are a beast.
all the work to make video and then for it to be ruined with the punk music
POD is not "punk music".
I'm surprise it even gets 10 mpg. I only get 13 in a suburban
4-8 MPG.If you want 9-10 MPG,get a Deuce & A Half with a Multi-Fuel.
I had a ride in one of these around the Walmart parking lot today.
This video inspired me to get a M923A2 & we love it . Thank you
What is the difference between the M923A1 and M923A2?
the M923A0 has a 250 cummins and small tires, the M923A1 has a 250 cummins and super singles and the M923a2 has the cummins turbo 8.3 with super singles
Thank you...
Bad Ass!! I’m trying to acquire one right now in Canada. Nobody would pull any road rage on you driving that around. Awesome video. America F@ck Ya!!
the sound of the engine is much better than the fucking song.
THUMBS DOWN FOR THE RAP...EVERYTHING ELSE IS COOL
Right on. 👍
The clatter of the big diesel sounds better than that rap garbage.
I suggest finding a good jump hit it at 35 mph and get all 6 wheels off the ground and hang on tight to the steering wheel i have done it in the usmc
i cant wait to own one of these
Thank you for the video brother. That looks like the Davie area, which means I can totally get one. I need to pick one up. How far have you travelled on a trip?
Nice Truck
Das is ja ein soooooo schöner Audowag´n. Da krich ich ja Gehirnorgasmus
Every man should have one!!!! I want one...
Nice truck the music is awesome
Nice truck, but the music was terrible.
Agreed- please delete that soundtrack and just narrate it. Why ruin a great truck everybody likes to see? That simple change lets us enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Because it's county music
Is this the naturally aspirated (non-turbo) version? I'm assuming so, because I'm not hearing any turbo whine. (I'm not fully familiar with all the various versions of this truck) Have you towed anything really heavy? Curious how the turbo and non turbo compare. Looks sharp - nice truck.
I've got a M35A3 and I just purchased a M923A2 - I heard that the 923 kills more zombies per gallon. Just had to get one :)
The M939A0 and M939A1's are all Naturally Aspirated with the NHC-250 Cummins.The M939A2's with the 6CTA Cummins,are Turbocharged.Both Engines make 240 HP,the 6CTA is 240 HP and 724 Torque.
And these trucks are not made to Tow extreme loads, not at fair Speeds anyways.
The 5 Ton Trucks haul 5 Tons offroad and 10 Tons on highway.Maybe 12-13 Tons is their limit if you want to try,but these trucks won't haul heavy unless you do some Modifications to them.
Which camera used??? Nice zoomm sequence!!! Which camera dude???
Fuel economy? Ride comfort? Sound suppression? What's that?
MASSIVE and intimidating trucks! They should stay on the desert.
If this truck make you remember the Barracks in Vice City, thumbs up!
You dont need a CDL for any vehicle thats not commercial use. You can go out and buy a tractor trailer and drive it around town without a CDL as long as you register it as a private vehicle
Good luck explaining that if you get caught in a monster like a HEMTT or even a HET.
Do you need a CDL for this?
Great vehicle to pick bread and milk with !!!!
I might buy one but i dont know how they drive on the road is it easy?
They are not hard to operate, and even though they have Allison Automatics, you can shift the Gears and the Transfer Case depending on what Range you want for when you're on certain terrain.
6" of snow shut your town down?
Cuanto cuesta uno de estos camiones AM General de esta serie 934 ...en la actualidad u donde se puede conseguir?
El ejercito de U.S.A. vende estos camiones? donde puedo ver el costo?
Si alguien me ayuda ...
Gracias.
crossed the yellow line, THATS A NO GO
How do you like the truck? any problems with it? Im looking at one to buy in the next week.
yeah, the death metal is totally unneccessary
WHy park between to cars when you can park ON them?
StonedFox And you just know that someone is going to be stupid enough to try to park their vehicle behind you to block you in
how many priuses dose it eat? and the smart cars that stop short? lol
Would there be enough room to fit a C-15 in there when or if that cummins ever weres out?
Lmao,a C15 is like what? Fifteen Liters? And a 6CTA Cummins is a Eight Liter. Not going to work out.The HEMTT's for a few years now use the C15 6NZ.They don't come with the 8V-92TT Detroit anymore, even though you can buy them.
Nice truck !
Sell your trucks 1984 M923 A1 to the Philippine armed forces. This can help us a lot in times of calamities.
Rumour Control Central says its difficult to make these trucks street legal b/c no one wants to insure them. What say ye?
super kool..... im trying to find one as clean as that one...
Bad ass !!!
M923 if a Russia military vehicle is comparable to an Ural ???
How is it to own one. Like a gas how many gallons...I’m looking to buying one to go out to desert and camping. It will definitely turn some heads out there
I have the T925. It's got a winch in front. I got right at 6 MPG Diesel from Olympia WA to Barstow CA (Ft. Irwin). (Abt. 2200 miles round trip).Takes getting used to to drive because of its size, and they DO NOT stop on a dime.
If you are a speed demon this is not for you. Top speed is 63 MPH, and redline is 1800 RPM with the Cummins Diesel. Your driving right at 25,000 lbs of truck, plus fuel, oil, hydraulic fluid, etc.
Depending on the age of the one you get, you may need a CDL in your state. Mine was old enough that I have collectors plates on it,
Be sure you have the proper tools to change out a tire. A block and tackle to lower the tire and raise it back up, jacks, lug nut tool and BIG cheater bar
I have broken down 3 of my tires so far and had to clean the inside of the rim & replace the "O" rings, as they are bead lock. You local tire store won't touch these, as they have no idea how to properly prep them & re-assemble safely. Very easy to do, but the weight makes it a 2 person job for ease.
Took 2 of us about 4 hours to break down & re-assemble the tires. (Not counting time to wire brush the rim and paint the interior.) Mine uses "Super Singles", as it was modified from duals by the USMC depot at Barstow before I bought the truck.
There is a chap in McKenna WA that has some of these trucks for sale at times. I also bought the 1.5 ton trailer at DRMO too.
Be sure to look the truck over carefully before buying surplus. Mine cost 500.00 to have towed to my place, as the transfer case was totally blown up. Replaced the transfer case & was on the road with it.
If you can get a set of manuals for the truck and a tow bar, do so. (There are 2 sizes of tow bar too, so be sure the one you get fits your truck).
The manuals have the NSN's for all the parts, plus repair breakdown info.
@@f.k.burnham8491 "1,800" "Redline",you must not drive very fast with your 5 Ton.The Cummins in these trucks, both Variants with the NHC-250 and 6CTA do 2,100-2,200 RPM's before Redline becomes a problem.
lol when you have this truck you can pretty much park anywhere you like...
how did you like those michelin tires on this truck?
Damn bro my Ram 2500 got 8 miles to the gallon lol I want one. Where did you buy it?
I understand a CDL isn't required for this truck? Please correct me if I'm wrong on this. May I ask what kind of Insurance is needed, and is it outrages? Thank you. Cool Vid.
I think it depends on the state. In MN, I think you need either a class B or class A license due to it being over the GVW for a regular class C license.
bigman55434 Licensing can be a big issue! Use can determine if a CDL is required. Any commercial use crossing state lines you need DOT numbers, DOT Physical, some have put air brakes on the trucks which mandates a CDL with air brakes. A big surprise to most if you pull a trailer that has a GVW of 10,000 lbs or more a Class "A" CDL is required even if you do not go over 26,000 lbs. Log books may be required, fuel tax. In other words their not toys. Owner of a 5 Ton M-817 with a Class "A" CDL
Augie L Not sure what kind of license you need, but there was an Antique Car plate on the one I saw today.
Pink Flamingo Some States do have exemptions for military vehicles as Historical Vehicles with no CDL required. However insurance and use of the vehicle. you can't just go joy riding. A parade, a military vehicle gathering may be the only thing you can drive it to. Notice a Deuce and 1/2 is cargo rated off road combat at 2.5 tons highway 5 tons a Real 5 Ton is 5 ton off road combat and 10 Ton Highway. .
According to TM 55-2320-260-15-1 Transportability Guidance for the M809 series, here are the Army's official weights and dimensions for transporting the M817:
Overall length, w/w: 288.3" (24'-0")
Overall length, wo/w: 273.3" (22'-9")
Overall height, assembled: 112.1" (9'-4")
Overall height, minimum*: 91.0" (7'-7")
Width: 98.0" (8'-2")
Weight, w/w: 23,847lb
Weight, wo/w: 22,615lb
So a loaded 5 Ton on the highway 42,000lbs
Nah, just push the other cars out of the way or simply park on top of them.
Parallel parking... there is no problem, you have a big steel bumper and 6x6 drive...
Intimidating? They are no bigger than your everyday dump truck o.o
was verbraucht der auf 100km ?
I mean... how can you press I do not like! great truck!
Throw a legendary whistler turbo on that baby and you're set.
They come with a Turbocharger...And a Cummins and LDT-465-1A aren't even comparable engines.
I have done the research and the A2 run about $15,000 surplus.
That's not exactly true, some of these and other 5 Ton Trucks can go as low as $7,000.It just depends on your seller, area, and condition.
can everyone drive military truck in USA?
interesting. ive been told otherwise to some extent. got a link to this information?, I know you can modify a road tractor to bring it under 26,001 lbs and make it non cdl
None of these trucks are at that Weight Limit, close, but not exactly. You can drive one with just a DL,you need to own it as a private vehicle or not for hire, and it also dues with your Insurance.
what's the mpg? does it have cassette radio?
shylildude you could put a radio in it probably
It would be no point the engine is too loud plus I think the engine sounds better
4-8 MPG.
save up and buy a hemmet, those are cool seen two of them while driving home
This is badder than a Ferd f-15,000!
素晴らしい‼️
Too cool !
where in the HELL did you even get this thing?
Check out Govermentliquidation.com
Sehr geil
can you give me more detail on the tires because im buying 1 . thanks
M939A0's have G177/1100×20 Tires with rear Duals.M939A1's have 49/1400×20 Single Tires.M939A2's have 53/1200×20 Single Tires with CTIS.
does this one have a locking diff?
Only Navy Seabee and Marine Corps Trucks have Lockers, and they aren't easy to come by,because they usually get used until they rot and rust or something breaks. The Army doesn't have their trucks equipped with them.
lindo este caminhao q pena q no brasil no tem para compra
how reliable are these trucks?
Fairly reliable because they are from before the emissions for diesels were begun. However the labor rate at a heavy truck repair shop is still higher than your average auto repair shop.
Buckyme biggest problem i seen in the marines with the 900 series was the transmission likes to seperate from the motor you have too always tourqe the bolts holding them together uncle sam always used mobil oil in them top shelf
I recommend the m35 series
Two main things on reliability with these trucks.Brakes and Transfer Cases.Never put the Transfer Case in Low,always keep it in High, even in Reverse,if put them in Low,the T Case will snap itself. And the Air Brakes on these trucks need to be drained out every once of two weeks. This is the truth of why deaths and accidents have occurred on these trucks, because people think that just because it has Air Dryers and Self Bleeding Valves,it will do the job itself, and others are too lazy so they convert them to ABS.
And the 6CTA Cummins in them will do many miles like most other Ignition Compression Engines.240 HP and 724 Torque will also move objects for you.
@@mooa6383 5 Ton Trucks are far more long lasting and living. The Multi-Fuel in the Deuce is just a Diesel Engine with different Pistons,Pumps, and Fuel Injectors. It's also underpowered and short lived, they will shit on you once they get 60,000 Miles.
Okay but you should love the truck if it was anything else you'd probably be dead.
whats this song called?
whats the top speed on that road tank? lol
Recommended max at 55 usually but I've heard of them getting up to 63
immaBEAST113 Overspeed warning light at 55 mph, but my A2 walks right past and hits the rev limiter somewhere around 63
It varies depending on what type of fuel it's running on, which engine it's running, what type of governor it and how fast that governor will allow it to go
45 mph but when you give it a hill than 25mph
Just to clear the Cluster in this section...These trucks do 63-65 MPH at Max,but using 49/1400×20 Tires limits them to 52-55 MPH,and using G177/1100×20 Tires will have them do 64-65 MPH all day, using 53/1200×20 CTIS Singles also do fair over 60 MPH.And Fuel or Governor Springs have nothing to do at all with performance on these trucks, using Diesel Fuel or Motor Oil won't effect my 5 Ton to go slower or faster.Just incase someone doesn't know,Ignition Compression Engines (Diesel) will literally consume any alternate Oils as Fuel.Diesel,Red Diesel,Motor Oil,Fluids,Peanut Oil,Vegetable Oil,JP4-8 Aviation Fuel, just to list a few. Then to get down on about the Governors, that is absolute Bullshit, let me explain again.A Straight Six only does 2,100-2,200 RPM's,putting a large Governor Spring won't do shit,if you go any higher than that, your Pistons will fly and your Gaskets will fuck you over.A V6-V8 have capabilities of reaching 2,700-3,000 RPM's,but never a Inline Six,I don't care how many Modifications you do to that Engine, not going to happen.Lots of misinformation here.
U only live once!
sweeeet
Lifted?
None of those trucks are lifted.
I want one, if I win the lottery I want one of these, keep the Ferrari.
you don't need to win the lottery, they aren't that exspensive

stop living on a fixed income, obtain a skill and make something of your life.
I did, I was a Corrections Officer, got hurt wrestling a convicted felon who was attempting to kill himself, had three surgeries, two years of physical therapy and was left permanently disabled and was retired by my employer. Been a rough couple of years.
If you can still use both hands try becoming computer coder/programmer, some positions even allow you to work from home.
Best of luck!
Cloth roof!? And you wanted to attack the USSR with THAT? MWAHAHAHAHAHA
ɷ Heey Frienddsssss I Have F0unddddd Workingggggg Online Hacck visitt : - t.co/D5rbB6PiDJ
Thumbs up for that! LOL
Its all fun and dandy until you need to fuel up on JP-8.
And what's wrong with JP4-8 Aviation Fuel? That is a alternate form of Oil and glorified Kerosene.Kerosene itself will also be consumed in a Diesel Engine just like any Oils, even the Motor Oil from that Cummins. That's how Ignition Compression Engines were built. The first Diesel Engine by Rudolph Diesel in 1933 was performed with Vegetable Oil.
HOV lane. FTW.
the fuck.. my Dully chevy 5ton, got 4mpg... im gettin one of these, or maybe a M35A2
The M35A2's with the Multi-Fuel do 9-10 MPG,the Cummins in the 5 Ton Trucks does anywhere from 4-8 MPG.
Fucking Badass
Nice video ... ND
