AURORA is a genius and one artists you don't want to miss in a lifetime.
In 2017 I saw a total solar eclipse for the first time ever....and it was jaw dropping.
I've also always wanted to see the Northern Lights.....the Aurora Borealis.
But.....if I had to chose, if I was forced to only see ONE Aurora in my lifetime.....it would be an easy choice.
I'd happily choose Aksnes over Borealis lol.

Great reaction! Any song she covers she owns. She makes Imagine Dragons unique, she makes God Is A Woman unique, she makes David Bowie’ Life On Mars unique, she is faithful, but spot-on with The Beatles’ Across The Universe. I would listen to some of her own songs before getting into her covers again, though. Start with “Runaway”, studio or live, and “Running With The Wolves” because they have been the “hits” of her early career. Then “Queendom”, “The River”, “Animal”, “It Happened Quiet” and “Winter Bird”. Have fun!

I think Aurora made this cover as a "challenge" on the fly in the studo. I see she and her band have the songs text in front of them. Aurora have done more of those "in an hour made covers"
I have not heard anywhere if "Teardrop" and "Across The Universe" on TripleJ was made this way, but it is definitely both possible and likely.
Most of her cover songs are made this way as a "surprise" with 15-60 minutes of rehearsal, definitely all of them on the radio station NRK P3, since it is their "gimmick": Wrecking Ball, Believer, God Is a Woman, Rasputin (only rehearsed 15min she wrote in the comments)
Also "Harry Styles - Golden" on BBC it seems like, she has lyrics on her phone, and the 2016 version of "La La La" she reads lyrics on paper.
Covers that she didn't make up on the fly but performed many times and released as singles / or on albums / "music video": Life On Mars, Half The World Away, Walking In The Air, Nature Boy, Mr. Tambourine Man, Scarborough Fair, Into the Unknown, Thank U

You will love this rabithole… went to her concert here in Trondheim a couple of weeks ago - pure magic… she even does new versions/interpretations of her own songs that makes me think ‘what? That’s a new song- a different meaning than what I’ve been hearing…
The list you’ve got is good - can never go wrong with her… more covers (interpretations); David Bowie… and she’s attended (NRK) P3 sessions a couple of times (I.e with her version of Boney M’s Rasputin) - the concept I’m told is like they show up, then they get to know what song they’re going to play and 10-15 minutes to prepare…

My first listen to Aurora was her cover on Life on Mars by Bowie. I searched for other covers and found Believer and God is a Woman. All of these are extremely good covers. Then I went on to her original work and I've been a fan from that day❤

During the first Covid lockdown I was on youtube and randomly came across Aurora because of this Like a Version video as I'm a Massive Attack fan. Hours later and I was totally smitten with her after watching so many of her covers. originals and interviews. Been to see her live a couple of times this year and absolutely loved it.
Her Teardrop performance is pretty close to the original but she often goes in her own direction when she interprets other people's songs. I particularly like:
AURORA - BELIEVER | LEGENDADO (Imagine Dragons cover) - from the original's raw power to a ghostly siren's call
AURORA - GOD IS A WOMAN (Ariana Grande Cover) | LEGENDADO - one of many covers where she has less than an hour to work out an arrangement, practise and perform it live, Love the harmonies on this one
AURORA - Rasputin (Boney M cover - acoustic / live) - a long way from the disco original
Great reaction. I grew up listening to the original Massive Attack song. I'm so fucking flashed. She made it into her own song. Btw I'm also a huge Aurora fan.
She is the 5th element, her incredible talent and her personality is beyond description. She brings Heal and Joy.

Aurora is a divine goddess sent to sing to your soul. If she doesn't move you with literally EVERYTHING she does, there's something wrong with you! I saw this video of her first....head down that rabbit hole. You'll never be the same. Do Cure for Me or The Seed next.

And generally hard to go wrong with her music or covers :). This means that whatever you would name I love (including list you said) :). I would add for example All is Soft inside life from KEXP 2018 (also Churchyard from the same convert. There is also Lucky in Nidarosdomen I would highly recommend but it is slower and more emotional song.

I do love your entire vibe though. Reaction channels are SO hit or miss....and you're one of the best I've come across yet. You seem very awake and aware....and you pay attention without pausing or getting distracted. Love it. Also you just seem like a really kind cool smart person. R&B isn't my bag really, but I _love_ plenty of it. Especially dark sensual noir-tinged R&B like that Banks song Begging For Thread. Man....that's such a good song.
Aurora doesn't really venture into R&B per se, but I'd be curious what you make of her song Apple Tree. The studio version (there's also a music video) is def the best for that particular song. 90% of her stuff is better live...but that's such a "studio" track, that the music video is best. And......it features Aurora kinda sorta...rapping!?
And yes, it's as adorable _and_ cool as you might imagine. The verses are really cool....and then the pre-chorus features this supremely wicked low-pitched vocal sample that I just adore. It sounds like a deep choir chanting some incantation and it works so well in the song....

Great Reaction! Really like your style and honesty.Not many people react to this song , but I think one of her most artistic live covers was for a retrospective after Leonard Cohen's death that she did in Brazil of his Famous Blue Raincoat". The other are live at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert "Murder Song (5,4,3,2.1)" and David Bowie's "Life on Mars". She is a true story teller that instantly takes us into her world. Thanks again.

Aurora is an exceptional songwriter, but she's also extremely gifted in her ability to make covers her own. Often times that makes for a great gateway for people new to Aurora's universe.

Aurora actually started playing when she found an old electric piano in the attic when she was 6 years old, she started writing music without lyrics at the same age. When she was 9 years old she added English lyrics, two of the songs she wrote at that age is on her first album (“Lucky” and “I went too far”)

Aurora's cover of the Beatles - 'Across the Universe' on triple J is literally magical . My personal favorite of her covers, but this teardrop version is up there. Fiona Apple also does a great cover of Across the Universe, but it's a music video of her studio version. If you can believe it, the only version of "Across the Universe" I personally am not a fan of is the original by the Beatles; it's a bit too grainy/harsh sounding on the ears, whereas Aurora and Fiona really give it that softened/soulful touch I think it needs; but I appreciate the Beatles writing talent and sentiment that went into the lyrics. Fiona does more of a true to the original version of the song. Aurora puts a pretty big spin on it. I love Aurora's version of the song the most, but Fiona's video is definitely worth the watch.
The old school rockers really need to consider getting together with artists like these to write some songs. Imagine all of the new magic that could come out of such a combination of talents.
