Hey, it's a rare accomplishment to have ZERO expectations for your game, yet STILL be a disappointment.
Tbh this whole list is literally all games no one thought would be good
I guess I am alone. I have loved the character ever since I was a child, and first saw/heard of him in the ancient Rankin Bass Animated/Proto-Anime "The Hobbit"...that version of him is still my fav (if anyone gives a flying F, google images "rankin bass gollum"...he looks like a weird, green grey eyed frog thing...almost like the blade finger guy from Samurai Showdown, who became like an archetype for various 80's anime characters. Anyways, I thought if the game dealt more with Gollum in his Lonely Mountain cave, mercking or a in the dark, and slowly going nuts, and then followed him as he stalked along following the Fellowship, it could have been a dark and interesting psych-thriller stealth kinda deal. I am honestly shocked at what those people actually programmed, however. Like, I seriously am stunned at their apparent utter stupidity. Have they never played a video game or something? Ugh.
Atomic Heart did not dissapoint me, the gameplay was fun and cohesive w/ high replay potential, the world/lore is fleshed out and immersive and from launch there haven't been any bugs I've encountered
I don't know about replay... For me it was a fine "one and done". I have no real desire to play it again. I did enjoy it though. I agree with everything else you said about it.

Jedi Survivor wasn't a disappointment absolutely loved how it played.
Definitely disappointed me. Runs like absolute dogshit. I’ve played ps3 games with better optimization.
@TheBlayner Ran great for me 60ish hours on PC an had 1 instance of studder for maybe 2secs in a cutscene on a mid-high end pc
I played it on the Series S and baring some of the usual bugs and glitches you come to expect from a day one game it ran smoothly enough,
It is a disappointment when you cannot play it. When a game can't run, it's a disappointment.

I loved Atomic Heart. The boss fights were great and the vibe of it was creepy weird...in a good way.

It's because of performance issues. Otherwise they are good games.
I had zero issues from fallen survivor from launch day. Ran smooth at high frame rates. No screen tearing or anything.
I've heard this a lot from PC players and I built a new PC while playing it and I went from a decent, if average build, to a great build. And I went from a steaming mess to a perfect star wars game. It was horrific on even an average PC. I love it, but it was screwed up

Atomic Heart is good, finished it all. Not disapointing at all. Also the world building and Sci-Fi plot is really good actually. But i can see many people not getting it at all.

I don't care what anyone says. Atomic Heart is a masterpiece and I believe it will be looked at as such by many in years to come. And if not. To me it is.
Loved atomic heart, excited to see where they go with the DLCs.
I thought Atomic Heart was pretty good sure the story wasn't the best but the twist at the end was pretty good sure it wasn't the best game but it wasn't the worst
As a huge Bioshock fan, I loved the twist at the end. I enjoyed the game thoroughly, although I got it on game pass so I could see how some would be upset paying $70
It's great but the trophies glitched is so frigging annoying

Engaged is still a fairly balanced game it's just that they implemented DLC very poorly. Most complaints was that the extra resources are not optional for those who wanted a more challenging experience where in FE3H they placed the extra resources in the protagonist's room. The Somniel took way too much time to do everything, so it didn't exactly respect the player's time. Other than that, the game was still a very fun experience with the exception of the final map where the limitless reinforcements was a greater threat than the boss.
This beautifully sums up how I feel about the game, minus the DLC since I have not tried it yet!
I think the gameplay is a step up from 3 houses, but the resource management and tasks between chapters really ruins the flow of the game! When you are playing the battles it’s super fun but outside of that it’s a bit too grindy and poorly paced. I do think 3 houses is the better game overall but I also think the emblems system and the more traditional class promotion system made the gameplay a bit better from my standpoint, in addition to once again eliminating weapon durability!
I really don’t feel like atomic heart belongs on this list, as it launched is a comparatively very polished state. Depending on who you ask is a great time to play

Atomic heart is a brilliant game you actually get the sense that mundfish kinda held back on a few things which seem to be going all out with the first dlc

I loved every bit of jedi survivor. Only issue i had was frame rate, and sometimes it would crash. Other than that, its one of my favorite games. Got the platinum in a week

I find it funny that the main complaint for Jedi survivor is frame rate drop and tearing, that’s just sad now days that’s what people worry about so much

The voice work was a bit cringey but the story was deep … if you payed attention
Fun but it got tedious fast. Go to a place find out it’s split into 4+ sections then collect 4+ keys. Rinse and repeat.
The political surroundings of it are what sort of put me off, but ya great game
It was mid, too political and the MC was a dick
It wasn't my thing but it was neat. I followed it early on along with scorn. The developers did go insane with symbolism but hey we need that at times, look at Scorn.
Just keep playing Maneater, I am. Eating things as a shark is timeless fun.
I'm playing Atomic Heart for the first time at the moment and it's such a weird game. I kinda like it, i kinda hate it. It's weirdly paced, strangely over sexualised in places and the dialogue can be so very cringe.
But it looks amazing and there's some interesting ideas in there. I am finding myself getting bored with the combat though but I'm so close to finishing it
What was oversexualised? The vid mentioned a dispensary box? What it dispenses condoms or something?
It's a good and fun game IMO, if it was a western game it would have been prased.

@mikespike2099 the vending machine you go to buy upgrades and ammo and the like. It is so weird. Sometimes you go to a new one and it is completely normal. Other times it is just throwing sexual innuendo/ killing pleas towards you. The game had such a great premise but the characters were so bad and the combat got repetitive really quick.

The only things I found disappointing with AH were the price tag and the constant need to update
Fire Emblem Engage played with unique mechanics, allowing for characters to superpower themselves to new heights, though it was a little clumsy at times (no Fist training until past the halfway point without DLC). Still good fun.
One game that never gave me a bit of trouble even though EVERYONE said it sucked when it came out was Cyberpunk 2077.
Never experienced a glitch,a bug,a tech issue,a code issue, nothing. Played and looked good and since the updates looks and feels even better.
Point I'm trying to make is don't always listen to reviews and play something cause YOU want to.

I agree, but wait a bit before to see what the player community is saying. You got lucky, my version was almost unplayable. It's good to play what you want and try cause something will click, but check on what the players are saying, assume that if they're having major game issues then you will too
Played day one and loved every second. crashed once...big deal. The random exploding flying cars were hilarious and any other very minor bug/glitch i didnt care about. Havent played since. going to wait for the DLC. its going to be awesome :D
Same here!! I got it on release on ps4 and other than graphics being blurry I loved it and still play it on ps5 now and love it!

Atomic heart was great and for me Engage was more to the point and liked it more than 3 houses.
Yes taking turnbased out of FFXVI was a good idea because we got the epic fight with Bahamut.

I’ve never played Fire Emblem Engage but I think it’s a great trip down memory lane because characters from the previous Fire Emblem games all appear in Fire Emblem Engage. It’s great nostalgia seeing all the returning characters.
That's it's gimmick though and if it's gimmick is the only thing that's making it like who then it doesn't have enough on its own to keep attention and appeal
@@dragoredrox7493 Well what about other video games from other franchises that have players go down nostalgia like Sonic Generations? There are very few people that hate Sonic Generations because it was an amazing game and a love letter to both old Sonic fans and new Sonic fans. So Fire Emblem Engage is a love letter to fans of the previous Fire Emblem games. When video game developers want to make a game that will bring out nostalgia, why not making a game that brings back past characters and past games. Another example is Hyrule Warriors which brought back Darunia and Princess Ruto from Ocarina of Time, Midna, Agitha and Zant from Twilight Princess and Fi and Ghirahim from Skyward Sword. The DLC added Twili Midna who is treated as a separate character to Midna, Young Link, Tingle, Medli, Ravio, Yuga and Marin while the 3DS Port added Tetra, King Daphnes, Toon Zelda, Toon Link and Skull Kid. Hyrule Warriors was a great video game in the Zelda franchise because of the nostalgia of seeing characters from previous games and that was Nintendo’s intention. So who cares if someone says a game is bad, having nostalgia in a game that brings back important characters from previous games in the franchise where they work together to stop a great evil is good in my books.

I enjoyed "Atomic Heart" Sure it had some problems but the writing and concept was pretty good. Playing it in English is like watching an anime dub. You can certainly understand the story but it loses all nuance. If they put out another game with this character, I'd buy it. The rest....well you're not wrong about them.
I didnt have 1 issue with Jedi Survivor. I played thru it a few times.
Tried to play Benedict Fox but got softlocked because I couldn't upgrade the pocket watch cipher.
Even though I have had a few issues with Jedi survivor including a few occasions the game seems to have forgotten ive unlocked new powers to get to new places until i restart from last check point I love the game, all the great parts over ride the few bad to me.
Atomic Heart is a work of art. Video completely fell apart at that point. Tell me you've never played the game without telling me you've never played the game

Eh, both were good, though hi-fi felt like a Clover Studio title, which shocked me because I thought Mikami or his mentees couldn't make good games anymore.

Atomic Hearts "crispy critters" was so annoying I changed the language. It is much better in its native tongue with subtitles.

It's not the first time I've heard "Crispy Critters" as a translation of Russian slang.
I honestly kind of liked redfall. While yes, I don’t think it serves it self as a ‘horror’ game, but I also don’t think that is what they were going for. After doing all the side quests and main missions, as well as 100%ing all the maps, I think that I can share what makes the game good, and what makes it bad. First, the good. I found the multiplayer to be fun and enjoyable. There are also items and shrines you can find which tie to the main missions, and trying to connect the dots is pretty fun, even when the game practical hands it to you. I also felt that the gun play was pretty good. I know that’s a pretty hot take, but I kind of enjoyed having to stand still and take a break, as the guns accuracy went up astronomically if you were stationary. Now, the bad. Not being able to start your solo game with the progress you made with your friends was kinda crap, but personally I also didn’t really find the solo game to be much fun. Obviously I also have to state the AI pathing was, well, extremely sub-par. Another thing is, is that the rewards you do get from missions or from buying them, ex. The glowing shotgun you get from one of the early missions, are outmatched very quickly, and there are no ways to upgrade them or bring them up to your level. On the notes of buying guns, there is a chance that when you buy a gun from the dealer, it would give some attachments, like compensators or suppressors or optics, and there was no other way to get these attachments. Personally, I would feel the game progression would be much nicer and smoother if there was a way to upgrade/customize the guns you do get.
Never had an issue with jedi survivor and loved it overall.
Atomic heart was really good, I was actually interested in the story, and it didn’t really feel like a reskin of bio shock
Last Case of Benedict Fox definitely shouldn't be featuring at all. Was such a great game.
I disagree personally. Was quite excited about it since I'm a huge Metroidvania fan, and I adore Lovecraftian horror. But the game just was not it. Felt like a chore to play most of the time and the combat was just not good. Glad to see some got enjoyment out of it though!

I guess everyone has a different experience, but I had almost no technical issues with Survivor, and I loved the gameplay and story. I can’t wait for the next installment.

Atomic Heart was just missing something. It was pretty, and felt a bit like Bioshock, if you squint your eyes, but it’s off. I can’t put my finger on it, but only lasted a couple of hours before I tapped out.
Not sure if Callisto Protocol came out this year or last, though i played it earlier this year, But it definitely wasn't my cup of tea.
Switching guns and reloading them was a nightmare.
The enemies were boring in design and the fact the more evolved ones were easier to kill was a bummer.
I also understand the whole teavel alone thing in a survival horror, but why was it always me falling down a slope or just getting left behind, never me going on ahead.

@damienscanlon5585 It's a good game, but when it drops with so many bugs. I love the fact that it's a next gen only game, but it can't be in that state.

@@LS1056 as far as i understand its just the performance mode thats buggy, i might be wrong on that but i know its only one of those modes that has all buggy stuff and if thats the case just play it on the mode that works. saying its part of the worst games of the year so far just cuz of that its entirely wild!
@horacionivar2869 I will say it's far from the worst game, but it came off rough, and it's able to run that mode reliable right now through patches, but that company wanted performance and quality mode and can only run one mode is disappointing to me. I agree it should be on here because we had quality games that run well this year, and this one had so much potential, could follow that trend, and still bugs out. It could have been a step into finally doing next gen games and giving the consumer a reason to find the next gen console, and they didn't put their best foot forward. I'm disappointed with the industry as a whole, and this proves that big studios and big publishers can't do it right. It's a good game when it runs.
This year's been so disappointing we already have enough trash to create a top 10 list about it. And it's July.
Jedi Survivor is a GOTY contender, call bullshit on that I'm afraid.
I played atomic heart in its entirety and couldn’t find a single thing I hated. The story is nice and doesn’t rely on finding post it notes to tell it like every other game… hell, you don’t even find the true reason for the twins until the end of the game, and their basically the main selling point!
I find it weird when someone complains about the oversexualized vending machine in AH. I question why? Does it make you feel weird? Why does it? It is a vending machine. I think it was just meant to be ridiculous. It made me chuckle a little at the fact I was NOT expecting a vending machine to get grabby.
Really got to disagree with atomic heart it's amazing and seriously can't wait for the dlc coming
Jedi survivor was disappointing for me when I discovered that I couldn't get past the prologue without a 100GB update. I buy physical discs because of limited internet but that no longer means a playable game these days.
I know games have to change, but I kind of miss the old school Final Fantasy RPGs. I'll still play FFXVI when it comes out on PC, but I dunno, all the action focus bothers me.
How dare Redfall not be #1 on this list. Intriguing solo or multiplayer experience from a respected developer that was expected to be a system's tentpole release, only to be so bad the developer closed up shop outright, and that was only the 4th most disappointing game of the year? When Many a True Nerd (arguably the nicest game play/review channel on RUclips) was only playing it because it was so bad the developer shut down entirely because "it couldn't be THAT bad" and even under that caveat could still find nothing positive to say from the title screen onward, you KNOW it was a genuinely poor experience all around.
All the games I want come out buggy and broken. I'm excited for starfiend, ES6 and bomb rush cyber funk

Wow jedi survivor is an amazing game and I didnt play on ox so I dont really care about how it played. It's like saying that arkham is a bad game. Had a bad launch on pc but its an amazing game
AEW is a awesome first game yes buggy but it gives you that old school wrestling Arcade video game. Honestly if this is a start the next one is gonna be awesome
They cancelled the sequel to golem because of poor sales and reviews. The next game was going to be "Lord of the Rings: Grima Wormtongue" edition.
I lasted all of half an hour with benedict Fox. The controls were far too clunky and made the game no fun to play through

You're so right with the hype of consumerism meaning we need new content daily weekly monthly constantly we are doomed to get and receive broken trash and garbage sent out at a triple A cost only to ave to buy more and more DLC to play the rest.of the story. Games are not games anymore they're gambling inducing traits in where you must spend spend spend to get a win or keep up with the torrent of pro gamers that because there fans sink all their money and parents if you're unlucky enough to have a kid that crys and screams for a new Fortnite skin. Arcades are the way forward where you actually play a fun game with a friend
I was ALL for Atomic Heart... then I got bored... and getting stuck on puzzles... and then I just couldn't bring myself to play it anymore. Thankfully I played it on gamepass so didn't lose money on it.
Jedi Survivor isn't disappointing, its a perfect 3d metroidvania.
It's a great game, when it works. That's my problem with it, a friend tried to show me it and it absolutely went to garbage. It just shows that I will never buy a new game till like 3 months after release since the studio didn't want to fix it during development

@Aaron-vn5fd Exactly that's my main thing. Jedi Survivor is a disappointment to fans, it sold well, reviewed well, great, but when it requires patches to be playable it's ridiculous. Gone are the days when game studios make finished, good games. Like could you imagine if Cyberpunk released correctly? A case study to actually have studios finish good games.

Definitely have to disagree with Atomic Heart. Yes, it wears its Bioshock influences on its sleeve and doesn’t match those games but it’s still a terrific game with some real creative flourishes that both looks and runs fantastically. From the frankly brilliant opening that introduces us to the world it may stumble a few times but the combat soon picks up, the enemy design is solid and the mix of FPS and puzzle sections mean there’s plenty to do. I knew virtually nothing about the game prior to release and that may have affected my opinion but I still think it’s one of the hidden gems of the year and one I’ll surely revisit again …
… there, and I didn’t mention the robot twins once. Oh bugger!

Now that I reflect on it a little more Jedi Survivor was a badass game but I won’t deny the game had issues. Like immersion, game breaking issues. Very bad in terms of cutscenes. If you don’t believe me I recorded it lol.
