I just wanted to share a possible solution for the small items you hold up at times that don't focus. If you lay your hand behind the item it will have a better chance of focusing on your hand specifically your palm. That will in turn make the item more visible because it focused on your palm. Keep the great content flowing!
Im honestly so happy one of the guys is doing something truely related to audio at the huntquarters. Not the quick radio 5 min installs all the time. Audio completes a car.
if you want the camera to focus on a small point like that connector, just put your hand flat behind the object you want to focus on to. You know "make object bigger". Really nice videos guys!
Hey Micky, I'm not sure what kind of phone you have but if you have a iphone you are probably gona want to have that USB connector closer to you (maybe in the arm rest) as opposed to the glove box. The app radio 4 comes with apple car play which allows you to utilize the apple IOS interface on your head unit. In addition, the quality of music sounds much better when you have your phone plugged into the usb as opposed to using bluetooth. Ive had this head unit for years and absolutely love it.
Car audio fabrication on RUclips made a video on those self soldering heatshrink wraps. In his test the solder doesn’t fill the wire completely. It’s better to just solder and heat shrink the old school way.
Hi.Micky When using the solder sleeves you want a heat gun with a heat deflector end, you will find that the solder flows much sooner, The solder sleeves are not a new idea as I used them 25years ago in MOD prototype wiring, they were made by raychem back then, Thanks Dave Very nice car, great videos
Ive got the same radio in my Corvette. I absolutely love the radio, and it doesn't look like some ridiculous aftermarket head unit. Definitely a great bang for the buck head unit.
The usb is for car play....you should look into removing the cigarette lighter and replace it with a usb extension....they have them on amazon for like $10 or so
Was hoping to see what your plans are for the speakers. I replaced the speakers in my FD with some decent mid prices speaker and it still sounds like junk because of the terrible enclosures that the speaker sit in. There's a guy that sells replacement door mounts for the door speakers, but they're pretty flimsy plus the doors themselves are super flimsy so there's definitely no sealing going on there. I added some fiberglass to the door mounts to stiffen them up, those foam baffles behind the speaker, and threw some dynamat on the door panels but didn't hear much improvement (door closes with a much nicer thud now though). For the rears you might be able to build and actual enclosure behind them if you want to get fancy, but with the stock mounts they're basically free air speakers.
move the mic connector to the middle of the headliner and windshield. when you mount it on the A-pillar like that you get alot of road noise and vibration when you try to talk to someone on the phone
There's a setting on those head units to change the colour of the lights behind the buttons...It's got to be red right? to match the stitching in the seat leather?
It's also a good idea to use that mounting hole in the back of the unit. Cantilevering all that weight on the front can lead to issues down the road. If you don't have a mount point that lines up just use some one hole strap from the hardware store. I know it's a pain in the ass; but it's well worth it in the end.
Hell ya mickey gotta have the audio replaced my unit once I got wrx with a touch screen and got the same kit I love how it fits and matches 👍 another great video like always and that interior looks beyond amazing
Mikey I don't know how sick you want your sound system to be but if I was out in Cali I would definitely take a look at the guys over at Simplicity In Sound. They are incredible!!!
Bro, when you want something to focus, you can put your hand right behind it, so it helps the camera to focus, because there's less depth. I don't know if I was clear, but just try it, it works well.
Mickey! I would recommend you to get a flush mount cigarette lighter USB. You can replace the one you’ve, since you’re using it for the USB. That way it’ll charge & also be connected to the radio. Letting you do Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto.
Thank you Mickey and the whole throtl team for the sick discount for the Kove speakers I just ordered two one for me and one for the parents getting my Xmas shopping out of the way 😜
On the front speakers not having any sound. Did the car originally have a Bose system in it? If so, you'll have 2 Bose amplifiers that I would recommend bypassing. It could be a blown fuse, the remote output not connected, or even bad amplifiers. If you tell me the year (I can't remember if you've mentioned it in a previous video or not) and whether or not it has a Bose system I can probably help you out. I prefer solder and heat shrink but you still did a clean job. Sadly better than most people who work in car audio. I'm extremely OCD and not medicated. Good job on the zip ties and flush cuts. You can see some of my work on my shops Facebook page Performance Audio Las Vegas. Unfortunately I'm temporarily closed due to a back injury that's plagued me for years and I'm trying to fix now. Car looks great though bro!
Mick do the dam thing having Audio is very cool I myself am running Memphis audio in my door panels side panels and I also have MTX subwoofers 12" with 1200 watt amp in my blazer hit's like a concert \ movie theater💯💯✌🏽✌🏽
Mickey spec on the this Audio install should be all soldered connections. Those heat shrink connectors are bulky. Lastly wrapping on cloth tape would give that OEM plus look
Do you guys in the states not have iso leads with both ends already plugged ready to go, iv noticed on a lot US audio video you guys having to make up your own plugs.
Does that unit support wireless Apple car play? Also Android Auto and wired Apple Car Play is probably supposed over the USB. Keep in mind wireless Apple Car Play is done over wi-fi protocol (not bluetooth) and is a power hog so keep a cigarette lighter charging cable handy. Also I didn't see to hook up the AM/FM antenna. Don't know if you're concerned about that or not. Nice clean install! Love the build!
Dam nice I have problems connecting the Bluetooth on my pioneer to my iPhone it keeps saying memory full and I try to erase/delete the memory but it doesn’t let me smh
The Kove speakers are currently marked up to $200 to be discounted to $70 with the throtl code. Looking other places online (walmart), they're 120. So it's still a discount, but not actually 65%.
I just put a head unit in my car and when i turn my headlights on it says camera no video signal w a blue screen. I bought the proper harness and matched every wire there is to match. And i grounded the brake to the frame of the unit idk why i get a blue screen it works perfectly with the headlights off.
Caught this video right on time. I actually was looking to do the same set up on my FD but I didn't know about that install kit. Does that kit work on all Pioneer double din units?
I literally comment every Rx7 vlog you post on Throtl. If I had the money, I personally fly down there myself and buy your car for a million dollars cash! Lol
🚨Exclusive “Black Friday” Deals on store.throtl.com !!!!! 🚨 Free shipping anything over $200...and remember we price match! 🤟
yessssss want to see this audio system built

Thats why mickey is an OG MOBB DEEP HELL ON EARTH IS HIM
is there a video for the speaker wiring set up?
This is definitely the guy we all wish we could buy a used car from ..
A swear we wouldn't even need to check it for mechanical issues
shane mcinnerny - 🤣
Im honestly so happy one of the guys is doing something truely related to audio at the huntquarters. Not the quick radio 5 min installs all the time. Audio completes a car.
You can put a back rear camera 📷 helps a lot, and prevents damage imagine you have a expensive car, it’s just a sugestión, hi from Mexico 🇲🇽
Dude, this is the cleanest/nicest looking head unit I have ever seen. I’m gonna need to work some overtime now...
J Gott sure is! It’s suuuper nice!
The rotary sound is the music mick.
Gav Nott - Oh, I’m aware brother.
Thanks Mickey for the detail install video. Now I can add a stereo to my FD 👌🏽👏🏽😁
'I love it and it's my car so I'm going to do it'
Damn straight - do what makes you happy....we are just here to take and appreciate the ride with ya!
if you want the camera to focus on a small point like that connector, just put your hand flat behind the object you want to focus on to. You know "make object bigger". Really nice videos guys!
I like how you actually show us how to do things unlike other people
I live in Ontario and know Carfonics!!! Small world Mickey so cool!!
The interior looks like it came out of the factory! Clean!

Very nice car, great videos
Respect the patience, time and care you apply to all the aspects of the build. Impressive.
Ive got the same radio in my Corvette. I absolutely love the radio, and it doesn't look like some ridiculous aftermarket head unit. Definitely a great bang for the buck head unit.
First thing I ever learned was how to wire up a stereo and sound system. It's awesome to see this happening
The usb is for car play....you should look into removing the cigarette lighter and replace it with a usb extension....they have them on amazon for like $10 or so
Armando Carrillo - Already been looking into that. Good suggestion.
Was hoping to see what your plans are for the speakers. I love stereo systems and watching installs can't wait to see the system you guys install😉
Mickey for me is like you all the hatchback car make the bass sound better
move the mic connector to the middle of the headliner and windshield. when you mount it on the A-pillar like that you get alot of road noise and vibration when you try to talk to someone on the phone
Unreal how nice this car is now. That interior is spot on with that fancy head unit in. Great job.
That head unit looks so clean in that car it's perfect!
There's a setting on those head units to change the colour of the lights behind the buttons...It's got to be red right? to match the stitching in the seat leather?
Antony Simm - Orange to match the rest of the lighting on the dash.
It's also a good idea to use that mounting hole in the back of the unit. Cantilevering all that weight on the front can lead to issues down the road. If you don't have a mount point that lines up just use some one hole strap from the hardware store. I know it's a pain in the ass; but it's well worth it in the end.
Corrupt Liberty - There is a bracket in the back on the factory dash bar that the head unit rests on brother. I said that in the video.
@@mickeyandrade3435 Ahh, must've missed that one. I had an older AVIC head unit and it started pulling out of the front bracket after a few months.
Excellent tutorial 🤠 I grew up a long time ago so the old stuff is normal to me. Great flashback
Done! Kove order jst placed over to Germany💪🏻 thx thrtl fam. 😎
Mikey one of your fans love the audio stuff. Can’t wait for that custom sub and amp set up!
You weren’t kidding, the unit is perfect! Looks real good
Hell yeah!!!! More car audio!! I have a MazdaSpeed 3 with a P3 Rockford Fosgate and it sounds great! Hatchbacks are awesome
Hell ya mickey gotta have the audio replaced my unit once I got wrx with a touch screen and got the same kit I love how it fits and matches 👍 another great video like always and that interior looks beyond amazing
@16:25, I think Mickey listens to AFI. That’s a good band.
Mikey I don't know how sick you want your sound system to be but if I was out in Cali I would definitely take a look at the guys over at Simplicity In Sound. They are incredible!!!
When is the dyno vid coming up? Still breaking it in? Love it!
vr- 46 - Soon.
Nice simple clean install mickey...love your taste in music (mobb deep)😊😊😊😊😊
Great head unit choice. I have the app radio 4 and it’s awesome.
This thing fits so perfect it looks like it was made for it
Mickey bumping some Mobb Deep and Easy E... I can dig that! Good Taste in Music!!!
Nice work Mickey! That stellar and a perfect factory replacement.
Bro, when you want something to focus, you can put your hand right behind it, so it helps the camera to focus, because there's less depth.
I don't know if I was clear, but just try it, it works well.
Where did you get all the new plastics for the interior?
The bad apple gets better and better!
Mickey!
I would recommend you to get a flush mount cigarette lighter USB. You can replace the one you’ve, since you’re using it for the USB. That way it’ll charge & also be connected to the radio. Letting you do Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto.
Gilberto Lopez - Already on it player.
Mickey,
Got a link to those amazing tubes/solder/wire connectors? That final install looks sick!
Thank you Mickey and the whole throtl team for the sick discount for the Kove speakers I just ordered two one for me and one for the parents getting my Xmas shopping out of the way 😜
Mobb deep?! I knew I liked you for more then just cars!
That looks super good, love that setup.
You need to get a subwoofer and anp up on that 12"-15" sub something to get a bit more boom
Mickey bumping some AFI Art of Drowning, THATS RIGHT!!!!

Car looks great though bro!
Jon Webb - I removed all the Bose audio.
Did you bypass the Bose amplifiers?
I know it's a dumb question but I still have to ask. Sorry if you did.
That’s the stereo I was going to get for my truck and now seeing it I’m for sure going to get it it looks nice bro
I’m casually here waiting for you to start making Vr4 videos like please start already I love that car n wanna see content on it 😂😂
You gotta stop Mick, you're making my lust for rotary stronger by the day.
The usb in the back of the head unit is for apple car play
Mick do the dam thing having Audio is very cool I myself am running Memphis audio in my door panels side panels and I also have MTX subwoofers 12" with 1200 watt amp in my blazer hit's like a concert \ movie theater💯💯✌🏽✌🏽
Awesome work as always Mickey. The USB should be used for the carplay so you might want to fit it where you put your phone
Mickey spec on the this Audio install should be all soldered connections. Those heat shrink connectors are bulky. Lastly wrapping on cloth tape would give that OEM plus look
Correy A. Lettsome - The heat shrink connectors aren’t bulky once they are shrunk and I could care less about wrapping in cloth tape.
I need this for my WS6 T/A when she goes back together again
You should help Tj with his because yours looks so much better then his
Eh, Ontario!
looks great please help TJ now... his looks bunk
Did a pretty good job on that stereo installation Mr! Also happy birthday 🥳
It's in our "gen" to love car audio😉
That’s super clean and looks bad ass in there!
you need a certain attachment for your heat gun for the sleeves to melt properly.
saint1605 - Worked Fine.
I love a good audio system I'm rocking some skar audio stuff in my focus
Now that's a Mickey Spec install, Go Pens!
Do you guys in the states not have iso leads with both ends already plugged ready to go, iv noticed on a lot US audio video you guys having to make up your own plugs.
Daaamn that's so clean and perfect. 👌

katdaddychap - Yes, it does
I don’t have a radio antenna. :-)
Dam nice I have problems connecting the Bluetooth on my pioneer to my iPhone it keeps saying memory full and I try to erase/delete the memory but it doesn’t let me smh
Should have ran the cable into the ash tray. Just makes it easier to use
That wire harness is good for a 1991-2001, thats what the 01 stands for...
Gokhanami C.J. - Yea, I misread.
@@mickeyandrade3435 that what you got us for! Awesome install!
Me: *loves sound of engine*
Also me: *turns bass to max with car sound system*
Honestly my favorite mod so far 👌
The Kove speakers are currently marked up to $200 to be discounted to $70 with the throtl code. Looking other places online (walmart), they're 120. So it's still a discount, but not actually 65%.
Bring the prv team so they can work on your sound sistem
Hector Quiros yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! X2
When you try to get something to focus put your hand behind it and the camera will auto focus.
If you wanna use carplay or Android auto, you need to use that USB in the glovebox
I just put a head unit in my car and when i turn my headlights on it says camera no video signal w a blue screen. I bought the proper harness and matched every wire there is to match. And i grounded the brake to the frame of the unit idk why i get a blue screen it works perfectly with the headlights off.
Dude imma put that in my FD! Thanks heaps 🤙🏼
Pioneer should really update their interface
Caught this video right on time. I actually was looking to do the same set up on my FD but I didn't know about that install kit. Does that kit work on all Pioneer double din units?
Change the color in the head unit to red👌🏽
Will Snell - Nah, Orange to match the rest of the dash lights.
That connector type is an aviation type! Greetings Malta! 😁
Came out really nice Mickey
Looks great, finishes the inside
maybe I missed it but we never got to hear the Bad Apple sound after you fix the intercooler
Mickey they make a flush mount usb and aux that can replace a cig lighter, looks oem
USB is a must if you want to push firmware updates to that head unit.
MOBB DEEP tho on the Playlist!
I literally comment every Rx7 vlog you post on Throtl. If I had the money, I personally fly down there myself and buy your car for a million dollars cash! Lol
