He was a 767 captain in his airline . I would trust him totally. An amazing man. Took on Boeing aggressively after a crash, you know few people could do what he achieved.

@@cindysue5474Yes, he went back to F1 racing about 6 weeks after he got badly burn in that fiery accident. A priest even read him his last rites at his bedside. I think from memory that he lost the F1 drivers championship by 1 point that year. A truly remarkable man. May he RIP

Leo Korn how tf is it his fault? One of his 767s crashed because of a mid air reverser deployment which was a mechanical problem. He didn’t kill Lauda Air
The more i watch about Lauda, the more respect, honesty and integrity and personality and truth. Always liked him and even more now.

Niki Lauda is my hero. I followed his career driving when I was in high school and years later flying the L-1011 I had a LaudaAir pilot on my jumpseat. I was really interested to hear what he had to say because I knew that Niki flew the line routinely and this guy said he was a complete asshole... yes he had flown with him as captain and hated it... perfectionist, everything had to be absolutely correct. YOU BET... that's not being an asshole, that's being Niki Lauda perfect... there is that way, and then there is everything else, which is not correct. I thought he was incredibly lucky to get to say that he flew with Niki Lauda, and no doubt learned something and was a better pilot for it.
LoosMoose it's a typical OCD behavior of perfectionists. They are considered assholes but they get the job done. I still think he's a legend, definitely a dying breed of people
Please remember, why he is such a complete asshole (in the meaning of 'complete perfectionist')!! As a business man he experienced an airplane crash with no survivors - and the airplane was carrying HIS NAME!! An airplane crash with ALL ITS CONSEQUENCES (law suits, accusations by relatives, ...)!! And he never ever wants this to happen to his airline again. So it is logical that he demands everything related to his airline to be perfect. I am sure he explains this to his employees in a very polite way. But if one of his employees (e.g. co-pilots) doesn't want to understand this and the airplane is only few minutes before airborne, he has to take the direct way (=> the 'asshole'-way).

As a passenger I want my pilot to do everything perfectly and correctly so I'm safe
@O R Remember that many millionaires are millionaires simply because of their perfectionism and attention to detail (Lauda is one of them), if an employee is not happy to give everything and do as their rich employees demand then they are free to go to greener pastures.
Full tank of fuel on a 777 is a lot of money, Niki is a smart business man.

Oh man,cries when I saw his face.Thanks a lot Lauda for all your dedication to the motorsports and aviation.I still remember when I first got his posters from my dad for Christmas gift.Still remember I put the posters next to Senna when I was young in my bedroom until it was destroyed by a friend's cat.Have a great time in Europe jumping around the continent by his airline either Lauda air or Niki! What a great airline with a competitive prices! All the best for that airline and I was hoping to fly it again to take me home to FRA

I am a racing fan from the U.S. so I didn't grow up watching F1. I always heard of Nikki Lauda but never knew he had an airline and Flew a Global. Legend. RIP.

Mr. Lauda was and always will be an example of what a genuine human being truly is. In world that is filled with people that are always looking to hear what they want to hear rather than be presented with the truth along with brutal honesty, this man gives us all an example of how things should be approached in life. Niki was always himself, he was not trying to be an actor as most people in this stage known as life. The final stage of a man according to Shakespere is the return to a child like state and I totally agree but there are a few exceptions along the way and Niki Lauda is one of them. I cherish any footage of this man being interviewed. Rest in peace Niki. You may not have had any friends around you in the end, yet I bet you were surrounded by many that loved you when you passed on. I do know for a fact you were immediately challenged in the after life to a race in the cosmos by your true friend James Hunt. Death is not the end, it is the beginning of an unknown to an unknown place, with no real destination as the soul takes on a journey through the infinite pages of time. I wish all people the best in life and hope we all can come together as one in the near future. The universe is electric energy powering the unknown and that is a beautiful thing if you think about it.

An inspiration of manhood and blunt determination. We like to put many people on pedestals that surly have absolutely nothing on this guy. Very few people couldve gone thru the trials in life he's gone thru and have such sheer incorruptible will power and blunt logic to any and all of lifes situations. Burned up in a fire? ok so what does that have to do with winning the championship!? he's just that kinda guy, and not figuratively, hes actually the authentic real deal!!. He takes everything we do in procrastination hesitation doubt and flips i all on its head with utter non wavering logic. The clearly was a man who never cryed as a baby, because he was never a baby.
