Too risky in my opinion. If that thing explodes, that‘s a potential catastrophe on our hands. I really don‘t think power is going to be much of an issue this playthrough, to be honest.
I got an unstable power cell in my current game and have been disappointed in the limited power it produces. I had to keep it protected, keep valuables away from it just in case... and it ultimately just allowed me to run two heaters. That item needs a bit of a buff before I'll bother with it again!
@@dylanjackson7325 thats why you normally make a closed 1x1 grid of stone and put it inside . Even if one of them get hit by something somehow (probably a mortar) you only lose one , especially when you spreed them apart or isolete them outside your main base just like when you need to build a geothermal ,enclose with a thicc wall and leave alone
The base is starting to look more, and more organized. Your storage room is looking less like a junkyard, and more like a warehouse. Tofu, you are amazing.
Personally I would have kept the unstable power cell rather than deconstruct it. You can put it in a little 1x1 room to protect it/your base from exploding effectively giving you a free 400w, and they are very useful with deep drills as you don't have to run power cables or keep moving batteries if the ore veins are far away.
I second this, fire and water doesn't do anything to them either and having them be walled from all sides negates any potential risk of them doing dmg to your base.
If you look at the operations tab on Alistair there should be a way to cure his paralysis it takes I think 10 glitter world medicine I know Alistair is not worth that much but just letting you know in case it comes in handy later
I believe the cure for paralysis can also *fail*, leaving you 10 glitterworld down and with a still-paralysed colonist. So that needs to be considered as well!
Really good fanart, hoping to see more about crazy situations like jake in full power armor overprotected against a mad bunny, or bears wandering on the desert XD
I think my favorite is Edmo. He may be a creepy neckbeard always hitting on Redhawk, but gawt damn if he isn't one of the most important members of the colony. He has risked his life for the colony and deserves some appreciation.
I love seeing the art work you get. This latest one really sells what life on the Rim would be like. Advanced tech with the power armor, the wild western steampunk of the clothes and the simple domestic lifestyle with the animal caravan.
I love the way you make all the episode, it's not a playthrout, it's a SF story and you are the narrator ! The artwork from Tofu is amazing, it's like somme picture from the steakhouse making it all more real Thank you both
I bought Rimworld a few days ago. And wanted to learn the game a bit more. Checked youtube and stumble upon this channel. And this is the only thing i have been watching since. I love it :D I love your voice, your logic, and your playstyle. Keep it up! :)
I think rough stone may count towards food poisoning chance just as having a dirt floor in a kitchen would. I've noticed in my playthrough that pawns will track dirt after stepping on rough stone.
I just have to say how much I love these Rimworld episodes! They give me both inspiration and joy, and I keep looking forward every new instalment. I'm also floored by the fan art that has been made for this series, they are so damn fitting!
not really necessary. You can only get food poisoning from dirty cooking area if the kitchen is dirty. There is no difference if it's sterile instead of simply clean. Frequent cleaning is enough
I was about to comment on this myself; you've def got the resources to spare, and it'll pay for itself in solving these problems really. Unless you're holding off for a planned expansion, go for it!
@@p_serdiuk Sterile tiles are expensive, needing a lot of silver and steel (and as we can see, steel is always in shortage). It's not a particularly big base, so a simple good division of work is enough to keep it clean
For clothing, you should set up a bill for each clothing item you want and have it set to "do until you have 1". In the bill, have it look for items with 51% or more hit points. In your outfits tab, disallow pawns from wearing clothes with 51% hitpoints or less. This way you'll always have a good set of clothing your colonists can change into, they won't get the tattered apparel debuff, and will automatically tailor new clothes when your spare set is used. As long as you have the textiles available, of course. Also, you may want to consider planning your future max size throne room and both 30 tile royal bedrooms (one for Steak, the other for the Stellarch). I wouldn't start building them now, the fancy tiles are very expensive, but at least decide where you want them to be placed.
I liked that episode a lot! Tofu's art is always a welcome addition to the end of episodes. I'm impressed with how you handle mech clusters, those have killed at least two of my colonies, so I'll be using your tactics in my future colonies for sure lol.
Hey Pete, thanks for the vid. I am pretty sure you already know, but at 16:50, you could take the power cell back to your base, hook it up to the power, and then surround it with walls for free, safe power. The walls will prevent a lucky mortar shot from wrecking your base if it clips the power cell and causes it to explode.
It was again a very interesing Episode. I love it, when you are playing RimWorld. One other thing I want to say here, when I am playing RW, i dont destroy the whole mech-Clusters. It could help with some enemy raids and menhunting animals. Some Times it was the only way to deal with one of these events. Yes, sometimes some frendly caravans are runing also into it, but i had never some reason to regret.
Hey Pete, great vid and a Happy New Year! Just wanting to say this; you can claim and repurpose those energy cells. IDK if you know that, and I know your power concerns are low, but I always like taking them whenever possible. It's a decent, if fragile, boost to your grid, and it asserts dominance over those mechs.
I just shouted "noooooo" when you destructed that lovely powercell (free energy! just wall it in on all four sides and be safe). You can move it (even w/o mods) after you cleared the mechanoid cluster. But everything else, smooth as usual, keep it up!
@Pete Complete Instead of making small sculptures, try the large ones. The take 1 slot of floor but pack a punch in beauty. They can make a 3x6 room with only 1 bed, marble walls and tile floors into an impressive room.
Excellent as always from Pete. BTW a fun technique I found was to setup a couple of animals for caravan, load each one with 1 high explosive shell, cancel the caravan and set an area for those aforementioned animals around the mechanoid buildings. Then you just manually drop the shells, start a fire around it somewhere, grab some popcorn and enjoy the carnage!
noooo the power cell.. you could have taken it for free! even if you dont need the power at the base its a good source of offgrid power, say for drills so u dont have to keep building wires, or you can take on an assault with a turret etc
Just found this series last night and after binge watching Steak crafting a poor quality bow and hoopstone all the way up to mining out the last of the original rock the base surrounds now, this is my new favorite series! Speaking of, it feels a shame that that bow in particular was already sold, I feel like it could have been a nice item to go on a shelf in steak's room or throneroom as the symbol of starting out in the extreme desert with nothing and all the progress that has been made since. At least the door into storage seems to be the original after all this time ^^

Good guy Edmo. The love of his life ignores him but he never surrend and keeps the colony going

Jake: "And Jake!"
