  • LD+R is a spiritual successor to Heavy Metal but is it a glorified and pretentious sellout or a legitimate anthology powerhouse? It's hard to say but for me, let's hope for a season two!

Love it! I agree with your top picks: Sonnie's Edge, Zima Blue, and Good Hunting, but my top 5 would include Beyond the Aquila Rift. It struck a cord with me as a fan of sci-fi horror like The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

If you liked this, I highly recommend "The Boys Present: Diabolical." It's basically Amazon's take at trying to do the same thing. It's an adult series where each episode's story is different, each with a different animation community. It's more cohesive than LDR though because it's all set in the same universe, so it's each studio's take on a superhero comic that's already gritty and adult. It's main problem is excessive gore / blood, but it honestly seems like it was just Amazon giving them a blood quota they had to pass, and some studios handle it better than others. Still only 8 episodes though, and if you decide to watch them in order like I did, it leads up to a pretty emotional conclusion, showing the story behind a recurring character. It's only 8 episodes, and one of them is by the Rick and Morty people. I highly recommend!
