The best DoP in the world uses the fastest and cleanest modern lens. This is contarary to other lesser DoP who uses vintage lenses to get the look they are looking for because of the imperfection. Clean sharp modern lens such as the Zeiss Master Prime are consistent, sharp and excellent flare control, but the same cannot be said for vintage lens which gets really soft, colour shift, bad CA wide open but became better when stopped down. There is too much inconsistency in older lenses.

To each their own. As Roger said in the previous part of this interview: there's really no such thing as superior.
