Great video idea! I work at Starbucks in the US and our "drive times" (which is considered the time a car spends at the hand-out window) are supposed to be under 50 seconds. It depends on so many things though, like how much and of what people order, whether we're understaffed or not, whether all of the equipment is working properly.
I’ve heard from quite a few people living in the UK that bc of the sugar tax a lot of companies has cut down on the sugar in their products and/or started using sugar substitutes (such as stevia, aspartame etc). So it’s possible that Capri sun has done that and why your’s tasted strange to you.
Which is kind of funny.... stevia or other natural sweeteners (agave, etc) I can get on board with as a sweetener, but aspartame or sucralose? No thank you! They should be BANNED across the board- they are very bad for you and have been known to cause massive health issues. Aspartame is the worst of the two- you can actually get aspartame poisoning if you drink too much of it (and yes, even one drink for breakfast, lunch, dinner every day is enough to start that poisoning process). I'd MUCH rather have REAL sugar, but LESS of it. And, I'd rather have real sugar vs high fructose corn syrup, too.

Before looking it up I assumed that sucralose was a natural sweetener (bc of the attachment to sucrose) but apparently not, which sucks cause it was one of the few low calorie sweeteners that I liked the taste of 😭 I know we don’t yet have definite proof if there’s any harm with artificial sweeteners, but I still feel distrustful about it. I can’t even drink most drinks that contains aspartame without starting sneezing really strongly, and that feels like a warning sign.
@@missboldsen Exactly! My husband can't drink aspartame drinks without getting severe digestion issues, and sucralose just has a WEIRD aftertaste. And the sad and scary part is, they've started putting them in children's drinks (kool-aid, etc). And there is anecdotal proof (ie no laboratory research) out there about the effects of aspartame in average people, but the only laboratory proof is in people with pre-existing conditions. Sucralose is probably the "tamer" of the two, but still not healthier than real sugar. It messes up insulin and glucose levels pretty bad, apparently, so I guess for diabetes that would be bad... It can also disrupt your gut bacteria and lead to digestion issues as well. So, for now, I'm sticking with real sugar or other natural sweeteners (in smaller amounts).
@@Nimeariel I think some research suggests that the potential disruption of gut bacteria could lead to increased likelihood of obesity, and in women that risk could be passed on to children. I think it’s just early research though

Starbucks’ speed is based off of the people’s drinks in front of you (ie if somebody ahead of you orders a Frappuccino, it will take longer than a regular black coffee), at least that’s how it is in the US

Your dad heating up Big Macs made me think of an idea - see which fast food chips reheat best. Chipper chips, McDonald's/BK fries, Nando's chips etc. You could split each portion between frying pan and microwave.
I only know of one drive-thru where I live.... Little Ceasar's! And even then you can only get Cheese, Pepperoni, or the Extra-Most Bestest (extra toppings ones) or a few other pre-made ones in the drive-thru. If you want custom orders, you have to go in.

Grace, I wish I could email you personally because I would like to thank you. I am quite health conscious, with a Degree in Nutrition. However, I would say that there are times when I think about nutrition a little too much, resulting in some guilt or anxiety. I do believe that what we eat is important and that having a nutrient-dense diet is wonderful for our wellbeing, but so is a relaxed and balanced mindset to health. Your videos remind me to take a load off and enjoy the damn cake. Or the pizza. Your joy for the little things in life makes you radiant and I see this as essential food for the soul. We had KFC chicken burger for lunch and l really think its the best option in South Africa as far as protein content goes ( for burgers that is ) . lts not just a patty , its an actual piece of chicken . Very nice .

I had ranchero beans with extra sharp cheddar, sour cream, salsa, avocado, a sprinkle of lime and some crushed tortilla chips. Trying to use up some stuff before I go to the store today. I also had an apple turnover for breakfast.
In comparison to other pizza places that will customize orders and have lots of options (Dominos, local pizzerias, etc), it can be pretty boring/bottom tier, BUT if you're looking for just that quick "I want pizza" fix, where else can you get a $5 LARGE pizza for 2-4 people AND a 2-liter soda for the same price as ONE combo meal at another fast-food place? To me, it reminds me of honest to goodness NYC by-the-slice pizza that you can get IN NYC in most of their little pizzeria hole-in-the-wall to-go places. Plain, simple, basic, hot, cheesy..... yum!
I had a feeling that KFC would win this. I watched a documentary about KFC a little while ago and they mentioned something about having a competition between branches for the fastest drive thru. I think there was a cash incentive for staff. Sorry to be that person but I think that you should have bought drinks that they had to pour from all the branches to make it a level playing field. Saying that though I don’t think that it would have made that much difference.

I used to prefer Mc's but recently BK have been stepping up their vegetarian products game (in Germany at least) so now I never even go to Mc Donalds anymore!
In America nothing at McDonald's is even vegetarian except the apple pies smh. So I always go to Burger King, they only have 1 vegetarian choice, Impossible Whopper, but it's still so good. If I'm not in the mood for a burger then the only other fast food meal option is Taco Bell, which is actually awesome they have a bunch of vegetarian stuff and you can swap beans instead of beef in any item for free. And it's super easy to make it vegan. There's Chipotle and Moe's but they're just an expensive Taco Bell with less choices lol But those are sadly our only kinds of options here. No vegetarian chicken items ANYWHERE!!! It's very annoying because chicken was one of the only meats I ever liked and sometimes you just want nuggets or something. 😩😫

Love the idea grack!! But as a scientist I think you need to do multiple tests over multiple days - perhaps everytime you go through a drive through record the time and after like many tests take an average to see the real winner hahaha

Now, in America it’s a toss up. You’ve got Chick-fil-a which lift has the LONGEST line at any given time of day but can literally have you though it in less than 5 minutes a lot of the time. McDonalds however can have the shortest line and have you there for 15 minutes. We do have an abundance of drive thru options for literally everything (banks,,pharmacy, etc) but I feel like sometimes it’s not such a good thing. As when I was in England, walking in and ordering was super smooth basically everywhere..makes me almost wish we had more of a system like that vs everyone being in hurry all the time and annoyed with everything when it’s not right ( as we know pay for fast food in America is lousy but people seem to expect 4 star dining at a McDonalds as well these days too.) This makes me miss the U.K. and my daily Costa trips as well!
I had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich on sourdough from Dunkin'. As far as fast food sourdough goes, it was bussin. Probably hard for you to try in the UK by where you live, plus it has cheese in it sooooooooo...... And funnily enough, at least here in the US they have some new (wait for it) Refreshers! I tried the Blueberry Pomegranate and it was SOOOOO GOOOOD. but yeah that was my highlight from today
It also depends on the time of day you go. You should really do three times morning, lunch and evening and then see the average on that also one needs to be at a busy time like lunch or dinner.

There’s a restaurant called @pizza that are opening pizza drive thru’s soon in Edinburgh/Birmingham! It’s like the subway of pizza where you can pick your bases, sauces, toppings etc along a line when you visit the restaurant so I’m excited to see what the drive thru is like!!
The fast open and close of the door though 😭😂😂😂 Best meal of the day is hands down breakfast 😋 I ALWAYS have warm Weetabix with oat milk and strawberries 😂
I had a fancy shmancy breakfast, with toasted white toast topped with fresh mozzarella chunks and quartered cherry tomatoes. I seasoned the tomatoes with salt, pepper, thyme and basil powder, and some olive oil. It was amazinggg! :)
I've literally waited in a Starbucks drive-thru before for over an hour. Honestly, their lines get really long in America hahaha, but it the perfect time to pop on a podcast and chill

I had a feeling that KFC would win this. I watched a documentary about KFC a little while ago and they mentioned something about having a competition between branches for the fastest drive thru. I think there was a cash incentive for staff. Sorry to be that person but I think that you should have bought drinks that they had to pour from all the branches to make it a level playing field. Saying that though I don’t think that it would have made that much difference.
KFC are always THE slowest though. It’s the same for eating in too. It’s just sooooo slow and idk why 😂🥲

I used to prefer Mc's but recently BK have been stepping up their vegetarian products game (in Germany at least) so now I never even go to Mc Donalds anymore!

In America nothing at McDonald's is even vegetarian except the apple pies smh. So I always go to Burger King, they only have 1 vegetarian choice, Impossible Whopper, but it's still so good. If I'm not in the mood for a burger then the only other fast food meal option is Taco Bell, which is actually awesome they have a bunch of vegetarian stuff and you can swap beans instead of beef in any item for free. And it's super easy to make it vegan. There's Chipotle and Moe's but they're just an expensive Taco Bell with less choices lol But those are sadly our only kinds of options here. No vegetarian chicken items ANYWHERE!!! It's very annoying because chicken was one of the only meats I ever liked and sometimes you just want nuggets or something. 😩😫
@@rapa2894 I loved TacoBell when I was in Canada/US, I wish we had it here too! BK has been adding more and more here: a vegetarian whopper, halloumi burger, another burger I think ANND nuggets!! hoping they do a veggie long chicken here soon!
fave meal is probably lunch. loads of options and easy to mix and match

Love watching a Grace video! Hope everyone’s had an good week so far! I passed my driving test second time round on Tuesday so I’m feeling good! Hopefully won’t be long till I get my car but I really want to sit in some and do a test drive if I possibly can!

Love the idea grack!! But as a scientist I think you need to do multiple tests over multiple days - perhaps everytime you go through a drive through record the time and after like many tests take an average to see the real winner hahaha

Now, in America it’s a toss up. You’ve got Chick-fil-a which lift has the LONGEST line at any given time of day but can literally have you though it in less than 5 minutes a lot of the time. McDonalds however can have the shortest line and have you there for 15 minutes. We do have an abundance of drive thru options for literally everything (banks,,pharmacy, etc) but I feel like sometimes it’s not such a good thing. As when I was in England, walking in and ordering was super smooth basically everywhere..makes me almost wish we had more of a system like that vs everyone being in hurry all the time and annoyed with everything when it’s not right ( as we know pay for fast food in America is lousy but people seem to expect 4 star dining at a McDonalds as well these days too.) This makes me miss the U.K. and my daily Costa trips as well!
I had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich on sourdough from Dunkin'. As far as fast food sourdough goes, it was bussin. Probably hard for you to try in the UK by where you live, plus it has cheese in it sooooooooo...... And funnily enough, at least here in the US they have some new (wait for it) Refreshers! I tried the Blueberry Pomegranate and it was SOOOOO GOOOOD. but yeah that was my highlight from today
Grace's fizz face is so funny. I'm also not a fan of fizzy drinks cause it's good on the tongue but so aggressive on the throat, I get it.

It also depends on the time of day you go. You should really do three times morning, lunch and evening and then see the average on that also one needs to be at a busy time like lunch or dinner.

There’s a restaurant called @pizza that are opening pizza drive thru’s soon in Edinburgh/Birmingham! It’s like the subway of pizza where you can pick your bases, sauces, toppings etc along a line when you visit the restaurant so I’m excited to see what the drive thru is like!!

I had a fancy shmancy breakfast, with toasted white toast topped with fresh mozzarella chunks and quartered cherry tomatoes. I seasoned the tomatoes with salt, pepper, thyme and basil powder, and some olive oil. It was amazinggg! :)
I've literally waited in a Starbucks drive-thru before for over an hour. Honestly, their lines get really long in America hahaha, but it the perfect time to pop on a podcast and chill

As someone who works at maccies I love how Grace orders bc its so efficient. Most of the time people just ask for a "big mac" and then I have to ask if that's a meal, what size, and what drink they want 😅
