Great progress JP, I chose to do the hard part first tackling the frame and body. I am much better at the mechanical side so looking forward to that part. Thank you for your videos as they will come in handy when I start with the mechanical side of the journey. Frank
I need your metal shaping talent when I get back on the body. I am decent on mechanical but the motor is another story. I am lining up the frame to get a buddy to paint it. He is very talented.
Good job JP! I like that tool. Wished I’d used it. Next time. The new seal is a “garter” seal. There’s a spring behind the inboard lip. I don’t know if it will outlast the original leather seal or not but it will probably outlast me! I finally got my rear end back together. I had fun with the shimming. Mine was at .022” for axle float before I took it apart and replaced the bearings. It was the same after i reassembled it. I was happy with that. Had to juggle shims a bit but got it set at .005”. I was happy with that too!
You posted some really terrific videos with great detail. They will come in very handy as I start my rear axle work over the next few days. Any chance of getting the manufacture's part number for seal seating tool? Did it also from Advance Auto? Much thanks!

That is great...still need to check the end float. The list keeps on going.

Nice video. What is the part number of the replacement Seal, and who is the manufacturer? Thanks.

Look at GHS 185 and GHS 162…that is the inner and outer seal, it does depend on which axle is in your car though
