I have played anomia probably about 30 times and I will say it does have some flaws and would recommend a host of party games over it. One issue I have are that it does not work with people who take it too seriously. It causes these people to fight over small things like which way players should flip cards off the stack. The number of faceoffs that each person has in a game can vary drastically since they are random which can leave players feeling like they never had a chance to win. The person flipping the card is at a disadvantage which makes faceoffs feel more one-sided. Because of this, I have seen players sit and trying to memorize other peoples cards and even think of answers to some of them before flipping their card. This can lead to some groans from around the table and just general unpleasantness. All that being said I have had some fun games of anomia but I would not recommend people playing it in large quantities with the same people. Basiclly just stick with the base version.
