What makes this all the more special, if what I mean by “special” is “absolutely terrifying”, is Norse mythology. Let me explain: Gleipnir, in mythology, was a special chain that was made by the Dwarves in the forge of Niðavellir with what we consider “impossible”: The sound of a cat's footfall, The beard of women, The roots of mountains, The sinews of the bear, The breath of the fish, The spittle of the birds. It appeared as if it was thin ribbon, but because of the materials it was made of, it was stronger than any iron chain. This chain, nigh impossible to break, was used to restrain Fenrir, the Great Wolf, until the time of Ragnarök. Gryphus One destroyed the “chain” that Leasath had made, thus forcing their hand to unleash the “Great Wolf”. Fenrir, in the Strangereal Universe, was created using the combat data of Gleipnir. Had Gryphus One not destroyed that prototype, there’s no telling what would have happened…

No, the only thing the Spiridus has over the Gleipnir is the AA Electrolaser cannon, even when combining both Spiridus models. The Balaur is an anti-ground railgun that can only hit targets in front of the Spiridus. The Hi-TASM is a long range weapon only, as proved by Mission 20, where the Spiridus uses them to attack ground forces instead of using it on Antares. Also, because it is confirmed to be a thermobaric weapon, it only works at reasonably low altitudes. 3 of the 4 ELC's are AG, so they can't really do anything to the Gleipnir. Since the IRCM plasma flares that the Spiridus uses make missiles go crazy, you might argue that the SWBM is no different. However, the SWBM *is* different because it uses shockwaves, something the IRCMs cannot stop. The problem with the SWBM is that the IRCM would have to make the missile go crazy before it explodes, but the IRCMs just go behind the Spiridus, whereas the SWBM explodes far enough away that the IRCMs can't stop it. The ELC is a bit tricky, but they can't hit targets at long range. Since the Gleipnir not only has cloaking, but has shown to be able to reach higher altitudes than the Spiridus, it's reasonable to say it can escape the range of both the AAELC and the Hi-TASM, and "spam" SWBMs on them. The Spiridus is no match for the Gleipnir.
@@calamitousenigma9052 Spiridus can destroy incoming swbm with his electrolaser and I don't think Gleipnir can fly higher than the Spiridus. Technically the Spiridus is a flying wing when the Gleipnir is a standard configuration plane so IMO Spiridus can fly higher than Gleipnir. In real life I 100% sure that Spiridus can really fly when the Gleipnir can't even take off..
The electrolaser takes significant time to charge up and can't hit faster targets like fighters, so try to hit an rather thin and extremely fast SWBM, which traveled from Terminus Island to Stand Canyon in 20 seconds. Also, you could say that the Dog Bear long range missile that took out Spiridus 2 is comparable to the SWBM. However, the Dog Bear unit's missile wasn't a burst weapon, it was a missile that had to directly hit the Spiridus in order to damage it. This also gave the Spiridus an accurate angle at which to aim the electrolaser, because the missile was coming right for them, so they wouldn't have to lead the target. However, with the Gleipnir, the SWBM is a burst weapon, meaning it ignores the READS ECM shield and also has options for where to detonate, giving less of a chance for the Spiridus crew to shoot it down. As for the Spiridus being able to fly higher than the Gleipnir, it's debatable and certainly possible, but from playing both X and Joint Assault, the Gleipnir has more of a showing as to its service ceiling. The Spiridus never climbs to higher altitudes, usually just flying quickly away in order to escape, even when in dire peril of being shot down, like in Ghost Hunt with the Spiridus 2. However, the Gleipnir has been shown in The Midnight Sun during ACX to be able to climb to extraordinary altitudes, escaping the Aurelians (even while critically damaged) by simply climbing to above their aircraft's max service ceiling.
@@calamitousenigma9052 remember wher the spiridus shoot down the friendly ballistic missile with his electro laser ! The electro laser can shot a flying missile. Spiridus can do cobra maneuver with that Spiridus is able to shoot swbm launcher if they close enough. But I think they are many many scenarios where the Spiridus or Gleipnir win. They are pretty equal in AA but in air to ground, Spiridus is definitely superior IMO.
