Did anybody hear about the famous musician Stevie Wonder moving to Ghana?
I heard about that's cool the singer is blind but he still wants to move to ghana even tho he cannot see 😱😱
Yes I heard oooo
That is incredible I will look into that!
All the spice is making you stronger. Better than all the sugar here in America.
True that!
The left hand though 🤦♀️🤦♀️😫
Anytime Callan touches the food with his left hand, I feel 🥶😬😩
Sorry I had no idea about that, thank you for the comment!
@@CallanWesley u are from the west so is normal and I completely understand that. In Ghana we don't eat, greet and hand over items with the left hand.
This man paaaaaaaa. Letting me watch a him eat waakye at 8pm at night when all the vendors are closed.
At least I know what I'm eating this weekend
same lol
Foods to try:

2. Kenke
3. Fufu
4. Tuo Zaafi
5. Bambara beans (Aboboi)
6. Abolo and One Man Thousand (Do a trip to the Volta Region and try it there)
7. Fried plantain and beans
8. Do a Ghana desert/snack food tour
9. Etc.. etc..

😂 the leaves are not banana leaves, they grow wild in the Ghanaian forest😂 great video bro.
From which plant? For some reason I’ve always wondered. I used to think they were plantain leaves
@@gordon-snc oh yeah. I’m trying to get my channel moving but it’s not as easy as I thought.
@@Ceela I don’t know the scientific name but it grows wild in the forest of Ghana.
Ah thank you so much!
I appreciate the help!
This is not fair. I am drooling. Can someone DHL me one please
I want another one now too haha!
Next time you can ask for stew only and they will do just that. You did well for someone I assume, isn’t used to spicy foods.Just tell them no pepper. You will still enjoy your waakye because the stew is tasty.😁
Thank you so much for the advise!
Ohh my, not both hands Callan , we meant only right hand😂😂😂
Reminds me my nephew came back from china with his Chinese girlfriend. She had banku and tilapia for the first time and literally ate with both hands, very disturbing to watch😂😂😂😂😂😂
waakye is my favourite!!!
I just feel like eating some
It is soooo good!!
Next you have to hit the local gyms in Ghana and train with them is🔥🔥🔥
I will definitely give that a try!
Am watching from Tamale but when I saw you insert your left hand in the food I couldn’t stop laughing I called my mum to come and see something and when she saw it everyone amazed. It’s so funny but in an innocent way
What!!! You ate wakye with your fingers? You are now a Ghanaian. Anyway, you went my appetite. My favorite dish
It tasted so much better that way!
@@CallanWesley true that's how we eat in Ghana
Please don't eat with your left fingers. That is not Ghanaian at all.
When are you meeting Wode Maya.

Am subscribing to your channel, I miss home every much especially our cuisine
Thank you so much for the support and welcome to the family!
The leaves are actually not banana leaves but come from a small nonwoody plant.
Hahaha I feel like cooking one day, nice one there
Callan am must say yr colour is looking very healthy coming home to Ghana n the Sun is helping toooo.😍💟
I agree with that too!
I laugh when I heard you said 🍌 leaves 😂😂😂.
That leaves grows at water areas in Gh. And it naturally add taste to the waakye
Ahahaha thank you for the correction!
Hahaha Callan is the only person in the whole of Ghana who advertise wakye
You have killed me with the garnished waakye
Thank you for the comment!
Oh wow Callan got that waakye from the street?? No wonder it taste so good many ppl say that street foods are the better than restaurants foods
It is so so delicious!
Omg Callan what are you to me?
I'm salivating here in Sydney Australia
Ahahah it is so tasty!
Omg that green leaf is another level🤔😋
My mouth is watering 😋😋😋

My mouth is watering Callan. Very nice
It is so delicious!
Callan, the waakye looks absolute mouthwatering....I could almost smell/taste it through the screen....hope you enjoyed 😍
Thank you so much I really did enjoy it!
Callan u made me miss home so much. I’m proud of how u ate the waakye. U really enjoyed it. My suggestion is, next time use only hand. 😂😂😂 For u pls ask for more stew and limit the black pepper. It’ll balance the spicy ness.
Thank you so much for the comment and I will for sure!
@5:24 i totally agree. The local the better 😋😋😋😋. You can try rice balls and palm nut soup 😋😋😋😋.
Oooo that sounds amazing I will definitely do that!
I really appreciate what you doing for us
You can also visit Tseado to see some nice homes and also visit Auntie Alice skills Braiding centre
Thank you so much for the kind words my friend!
Welcome and I will be expecting you
I see you love eating with your hands yes really cool but try to use only the right hand always never put the left one in the food no matter how clean you make it. It’s a no no n against Ghanaian culture 😃😃
Ah I didn’t know this thank you so much for the insight!
Thanks Kofi. We'll said. Never allowed in Ghana
Add pear to the next one n trust me ur going to enjoy it 😂
Ìt's in there ìt's called avocado in some places.
I will definitely give that a try thank you!
Guys, have you noticed that....after having a spicy waakye or Kenkey, you end up fantasizing about it the next day or two😂😂? Y'all feel me? Lol it is crazy
This is so true hahah!
@@CallanWesley 🤣🤣🤣🤭🤭🤭
.. Jollof with the name but Waakye is the underdog King
Agreed my friend!
Damn this waakye is popping! Yummy 😋
It’s so good!
Aww this's delicious my favourite food in Ghana
It is amazing!
Cool
Thank you!
Callan you are best, mate.
Thank you Karl!
Shinkafa da wake (rice and beans) now corrupted in Ghana to waakye by the southerners.
The leaf in which it is wrapped = *katemfe leaves* , scientific name --> _Thaumatococcus daniellii_
You’re lying it’s a northern Ghana food and it’s always been waakye.
Lol @ banana leaves. It’s not banana leaves. It’s makes the wakye much more tastier.
Ah thank you for the comment!
I can smell it from here 😁
Thank you for the comment my friend!
My dear, it is not banana leaf. It looks like it but it's. Unfortunately i dont know what the leaf is called in English. 🤗
Thank you for the correction my friend!
Know know 🙄 this is not banana leaves bro 🤣🤣🤣 herbal leaves which grow by it self in Savannah forest in some parts of west Africa
Hahah thank you for the comment!
Next time, you can reduce the spice by just take some out.or maybe ask the seller to put the stew seperately.
That's my favorite food 🥙🍜🥰🇬🇭💝
I can see why!
It's not banana leave,Your left hand thou put it away from the food😅
Callan, when are you going to do a video of South African cuisine?
Next time I’m in South Africa I would love too!
🇬🇭💞💞❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👌👌
Next.time order yr shito pepper on the side. Never let them put the pepper on for you. Pepper alert!!! Try the groundnut soup (peanit butter soup).
Thank you so much Alexis for the insight and idea!
Get your left hand out Master....aaaah?
Thanks for the comment
Try Ghana's "Yum bakr", that is really different.
I would have to opt for a fork. Eating noodles with my hands would be difficult and messy for me. Can't you ask them to tone down the pepper?
Thank you for the suggestion!
Omg Wow please don't forget Me 🙏
I appreciate the comment!
First here 💃💃💃
Thank you Kwaku!
Callan you and Jay Cameron are my favorites and both of you love waachie. I am therefore begging you to extend an invitation to eat waachie with him ,the bill is on me . Sue.
Hey Callan, don't eat with two hands!
U make me hungry 😜

You look good clean shaven, also how long will you be in Belgium?
Around 3 years my friend!

I'm not surprised that that waakye is really hot some Ghanaian foods are really hot and a lot of Ghanaians/Africans love spicy and hot foods

I didn't see wele in there
I hope it was in there, thank you for the comment!
Mouth watering 😋
It is indeed!
First to like
Thank you my friend!
👌👌👌
Thank you my friend!
Surely the whole point of the banana leaf wrap was as the original container?. Instead of using manmade wrappers, so adding a leaf wrap in a manmade container??? 🤪
One of my objectives on my next visit is to try waakye, somehow it always escaped me
You have to give it a try it is so good!
@@CallanWesley I don’t doubt it 👍
Yummmm
It’s so good!
Whats the process of bringing money to ghana and debit cards?
I am really not sure my friend!
@@CallanWesley well let's find out from personal experience and make a video my friend!
Cash is king in GH.
If you are from the US, you can open a Schwab Bank High Yield Investor Savings® Account, the bank reimburses 100% of ATM fees charged by ATM operators. The bank will not charge a foreign transaction fee if you use this debit card abroad. Exchange rates on the given day apply.
Other options:
Make sure your phone is unlocked. When you arrive in Ghana get a local SIM card at the airport, register it with your passport credentials. Ask to have a mobile money account opened for you on your Ghana cellphone/mobile number. Providers you want to focus on --> Vodafone and MTN. Look up their data plans online and compare pricing.
Open an account on *WorldRemit* before travel. Download the app from your app store.
If you run out of cash in GH, transfer money to your mobile money account. There are transaction fees when you take that money out from an agent in GH.
If that is worrisome, then transfer the money to a bank linked to WorldRemit for cash pickup in GH. Just note that you will have to secure that cash properly; petty thievery happens.
Another option is to register on *Remitly*. Download the app from your app store. Same thing as above, allows you to send money to your mobile money account or cash pickup.
You may find that services you frequently use accept mobile money payments, use that instead of carrying large amounts of cash. QR code scanning may become the norm soon as the current government is trying to push for a digital economy.
@@fjohn8985 Thank you man
Next time scoop the black pepper aside don’t mix so that you able to enjoy
Thank you for the input!
Callan, please don't be hard on me
Invite me to enjoy some of your waakye ok please
Thank you Daniel!
oh my gosh Callan why u doing this to us
It’s so delicious!
You don't have to eat with your hands and you can remove the shito and leave just enough to taste
Thank you so much!
Lol next time avoid sticking your left hand 😉
Thank you for the insight!
