If you can’t get enough of the eerie and unnatural, pop on over to Thurber, a ghost town that is all that’s left of a Texas brick manufacturing industry. Who were the people that were forced to leave this place? More importantly, what did they do with their deceased loved ones that they had to leave behind?

My Mother was born in Thurber in 1921. My grandmother did the miners laundry.

Thanks for sharing this video on Thurber. My grandfather worked for Texas and Pacific oil company back in the mid60s, who eventually got bought out by Seagrams liquor company a couple years later. But TP had bought or leased a few cabins around the lake to provide employees and their families a place to enjoy and relax at no cost to them. I think I was only 9 or 10 but I have fond memories of that area.

Thurber brings good memories around! As a kid,mu parents and rest of the Family and us kids used to go to Thurber and go camping , hunting. We spent many campouts hiiking all over , cooking out, telling stories, and seeing the many horny toads that were around then. Good memories then

Smoke Stack restaurant has been a shthole since the last owners took over.
Marys still smells of rancid cigarettes so it's a wash for that area.
No the 370 isn't any better
