  • From June 26, 2021: While I may not have gotten any bites while fishing from the beaches in Clearwater, Florida, I did get the opportunity to see fish. My family and I took the ferry out of Hubbard's Marina at Fort De Soto State Park over to Egmont Key State Park. The island is home to a lighthouse, old forts, a migratory bird sanctuary as well as many gopher tortoises. My sons and I took the ferry around to the other side of the island and spent an hour snorkeling around the base of the Battery Burchsted. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and even mentioned that we'd like to return.

I remember when these ruins were part of the island and you could explore them without getting your feet wet. I was stationed at the lighthouse, 1974-1975.

Oh wow! The lighthouse was such a nice bonus when we were walking the island. My wife and I really enjoy visiting them. More importantly - thank you for your service!

Do they provide the vests or are they your own? Is this with hubbards marina?

It was through Hubbards Marina and YES they did provide the snorkeling vest. They even had masks and snorkels to use. We definitely enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!

A bit of wind that day had the water stirred up quite a bit. But it was still a fun place to get in and under the water. Thanks for watching!
