I worked as a customer representative at Walmart, in regards with the 50% refund, you should have called a supervisor or manager on the phone/chat to speak with, they can give 100% refund exceptions. To get a 100% refund, you must return the item back to Walmart if the item was sold by Walmart (There are items that you don't need to return and just ask a 100% refund such as food, broken glass, personal one time use items, hazardous items). Once the item arrived in our return center your 100% refund will be processed automatically. Second option, if your item was sold by a marketplace seller (individual seller, who sells their items using Walmart). You must contact Walmart customer service so that we could send an email to the seller to issue a refund to the buyer/customer. Some sellers wants the item back, some does not. A guaranteed 100% refund is when the seller did not respond to our emails for refund issuance in 48 hours from contact, you may contact us once again after 48 hours and no email from seller and we could process the 100% refund immediately. Hope this helped!
Don't trust it when customer service says we have escalated it to the higher department, WE DONT ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING ITS JUST PART OF THE SCRIPT FLOW.
Almost made me sick to my stomach, how can you treat people like this as a retailer..? You have golden patience bro, I'm not sure I would've remained this calm.
It's not Walmart, the issue is the 3rd party seller. Every time I had a problem, Walmart did help me immediately. It's way more complicated if the problem is a 3rd party seller, another person, or company who sells the product on their site. Just think about, it, a customer service person, probably in India, can't really check if the counterfeit issue is a real problem or someone is trying to scam the site/the 3rd party seller. However at this point WMT should take the steps, ask the problem is escalated, and seeing the 1-star ratings and complaints on the site, it's obviously not a made-up claim, it's a real problem.
Simple. Walmart, as a corporation, doesn't care. They're making absurd amounts of money from that company being partnered with them. They don't care if the products are fake. It's not coming from Walmart directly so they completely ignore it because it's not ruining their reputation. They're gonna continue making billions upon billions of dollars, regardless.
I’m glad you made this video this making millions of people aware of this saving them from getting scammed and keeping the pressure on Walmart to get the fake cards off the shelves.
I saw several other content creators talking excitedly about this "restock," I really hope nobody else fell for this scam. Good on you for trying to stop the shameless grift.
I knew JediMasterSquirtle's sister got scammed by this and I attended his stream where he opened the fake box. So glad you've looked into this and posted about it cause it's such a big issue
Caterpie EX is becoming such a meme. I've seen several people talking about this already. But you are the first person to actually make (good) work of it. Nice job dude. I'm looking forward to part 2.
This is exactly why I don't trust walmart when it comes to pokemon cards, they're too open with third party sellers, and make the images so convincing since you can't see the real thing in person. I hope no one else falls for this scam, SPREAD THE MESSAGE Edit: Damn, the way you filmed the video looks so good, hoping to see even better stuff in the future!
It's a 3rd party issue. If you buy the cards, you buy them from the 3rd party seller, not from Walmart. That's why the refund is difficult. They don't sell the cards, another company does. However, indeed, Walmart should take steps immediately. This is got out of hand. :-/
Walmart should definitely give you your money back. But for people who don’t know they have 3rd party sellers. Do not buy anything that is not sold & shipped by Walmart. That’s a big no no. And Amazon is the same. Make sure you use prime 👍 good luck. Sorry about your fake Pokémon cards
@@jenny9658 The first part is true, but Amazon is different. If a 3rd party seller scams you, you get your money from Amazon itself, instantly. That's the reason I often buy things on Amazon from 3rd party sellers. The money is safe there. Unfortunately, scammers like to scam sellers there, so, the story is the opposite on Amazon...
Mate! Great video, and its fantastic to see that this is a response from one of your fans getting scammed and you getting involved to stop it happening to others. Can’t wait to see the second part!

I really appreciate you digging into this, making this video, and hopefully making a change! This is atrocious. It's a complete disaster that places like Walmart & Best Buy, allow outside sellers to sell directly on their websites. They should just stop all of this.
Amazon has a serious problem of mixing returned stock back into circulation. Magic the gathering buyers are getting boxes FROM amazon direct that have been opened and all the rares taken out and resealed. 3rd party sells the box to someone after stealing the rares, that person returns it, amazon places it on the wrong pallet with new product, new buyer buying directly from amazon gets box with cards stolen, repeat. There was a video where a guy got 8 full booster boxes that had all been done this way, and lots of other people posting vids too.
and they often don't even check the returned items to make sure the contents match the product description. I've bought stuff on Amazon where the item in the box was either fake or a completely different item.
Ex-Walmart Employee here; The pokemon cards you see at any given location are a Vendor item. Walmart its self has very little control over those items as they're set up by third party, and maintained (poorly at my store) by third party. We are not allowed to put their items in claims if they come up ripped, or broken. We aren't allowed to apply discounts for stuff, and the price you see was almost always wrong but we could do nothing about it. I've had more than one angry parent stomp off when the box they tried to purchase was twice the listed price. My managers always shrugged and said "vendor item, can't do anything about it." No excuse for this bullshit, but that is what I know about the situation from my own meager experience.
Wait a minute.... shouldn't this be against the law for Walmart to be selling this to folks? Considering the fact that many people has been fined for selling pirated Goods like this. But yet Walmart is allowed to continue selling this garbage........
Well done. You were organized, determined and above all, polite. Hard to be these days when you get the run around but hats off for your patience. You’re fighting the good fight. Cheers.

Not all heroes wear capes - this is the type of investigation we need, way to go Pat! Dealt with a scam buyer on eBay and had to go through a similar hassle for a week, got lots of false promises and of course no resolution in the end due to the buyer going through 3rd party charge back.
Both Walmart online and Amazon have been absolutely destroyed by third-party Chinese sellers. Both platforms are WAY too lenient with them. They can basically get away with selling anything with no repercussions - and that parent company having an actual partnership with Walmart is INSANE! Also spoiler alert, the source of these fakes are Chinese factories and distributors you can find via Alibaba or Aliexpress. Incredible video Pat, it's really important to bring awareness to this.

1:33 In case you're confused why a 5 star rating was given to the scam product: Walmart will show the top voted "Positive" review and the top voted "negative" review. So the top negative review has "This is a scam" and people upvote it for helpful. But now the top POSITIVE review also says "This is a scam" So, when a customer goes to the page, the top voted positive AND negative review say that it's a scam This is to ensure that the company can't do review manipulation with a 5 star "This is a good legit box" rating.

@@thatmaninblack Except, as stated in the video, JD isn't just some 3rd party seller, they are in part owned by Wal-Mart.

This is exactly why I don't trust walmart when it comes to pokemon cards, they're too open with third party sellers, and make the images so convincing since you can't see the real thing in person.
I hope no one else falls for this scam, SPREAD THE MESSAGE
Edit: Damn, the way you filmed the video looks so good, hoping to see even better stuff in the future!
It's a 3rd party issue. If you buy the cards, you buy them from the 3rd party seller, not from Walmart. That's why the refund is difficult. They don't sell the cards, another company does. However, indeed, Walmart should take steps immediately. This is got out of hand. :-/
Agree. Make sure it’s sold by Walmart, 3rd party sellers on Walmart site.

The stupid thing is walmart and bestbuy can’t claim no responsibility for these sellers committing fraud
@@vegas_party_animal7737 They are not responsible for the sellers, however, they are responsible for taking down the problematic products.
@albertlwj amazon do refund straight away. My son was scammed like that, reported it and was refunded straight away.

My managers always shrugged and said "vendor item, can't do anything about it."
No excuse for this bullshit, but that is what I know about the situation from my own meager experience.
A new series 🙌🏻 I’m here for it! 🤩 glad you were able to finally get your money back 😊
Wait a minute.... shouldn't this be against the law for Walmart to be selling this to folks? Considering the fact that many people has been fined for selling pirated Goods like this. But yet Walmart is allowed to continue selling this garbage........
Yeah, I cant see how Walmart isnt primed for a huge lawsuit.
Well done. You were organized, determined and above all, polite. Hard to be these days when you get the run around but hats off for your patience. You’re fighting the good fight. Cheers.
Why does a huge retailer like Walmart need to "partner" with a 3rd party distributer??? You're telling me Walmart can't figure out how to get real Pokemon cards by themselves?
Most likely cheaper to go third party
@@some_shitposting_idiot3023 Of course they are cheaper. They're fake
why pay their own money to buy and hold inventory when they can take a cut of someone else's sale with 0 cost to themselves, 100% profit for them.

This almost grounds to be a class action suit against Walmart.

In case you're confused why a 5 star rating was given to the scam product:
Walmart will show the top voted "Positive" review and the top voted "negative" review.
So the top negative review has "This is a scam" and people upvote it for helpful.
But now the top POSITIVE review also says "This is a scam"
So, when a customer goes to the page, the top voted positive AND negative review say that it's a scam
This is to ensure that the company can't do review manipulation with a 5 star "This is a good legit box" rating.
I unfortunately was sent counterfeit Canon ink cartridges that didn't work in my printer from Walmart. I sent them back the next day. Never got a replacement or a refund. It's been half a year, and I'm not getting that refund. It's horrible what they're doing

@@adamherrera9540 You can when Walmart has a partnership with the Chinese companies selling these counterfeit products on their website. Walmart KNOWS about this and they don't care. That makes them responsible.

Walmart customer service has always been HORRENDOUS and the fact they are slinging fake cards negligently does not surprise me. Going to have to get a bunch of people together that got scammed off of the Walmart products and do some kind of class action lawsuit in order for them to do anything one case by itself is not enough but getting everyone together making the value go up would make it worth pursuing

When buying from Walmart or Amazon ALWAYS go to filter results and choose Walmart or Amazon so it's coming directly from them. There's a huge problem with both these sight, ur almost guaranteed to get fake cards if it's not sold directly by them. There are legit 3rd party sellers on both those sites but you have to know what you're doing. #1 rule with pokemon cards especially on websites like those two, if it's too good to be true, IT IS...ALWAYS.

its funny how they make those mistakes, like the "caterpie EX" because its almost looks like they want you to know you got scammed the moment you see that XD
I would always see these at flea markets And I wondered where they get their supply from. I guess this answers my question. they probably get the full retail value of a box if they can sell to kids and collectors who don't know better.
One time when I was very young and still collected Pokemon cards, got one of these, as well as one for yugioh, was very excited to see cards with ridiculous hp and attack values. Luckily never used them as I just collected never really learned how to play, but yeah, those sat in my collection for a while until I figured out they were fakes and tossed them.
Funny as a small business card shop owner we have to be careful with our orders because the company can cut us off. Or if we did this we would be labeled as scam artists. But Walmart knowing full well knows what they are selling and nothing is done.
Super well made! New subscriber here and I am mighty impressed, Pat!
As someone who grew up with pokemon and used to collect the cards even into my teens, this was so sad to see, I hope they got sued.
You should probably be able to report Walmart for fraud on a Federal level.
why don’t u do it then you should be able to make a lot suing them
@@mothh Pretty sure you're joking but I'll bite. ^_^
There is a purpose from reporting Walmart for fraud and it's not actually that hard to do. Just find the correct gov website for it.
Believe it or not, the government will eventually look into it. It probably helps if more than one person reports it. Even if Walmart can prove they aren't responsible, they'll still have to deal with it. It could force Walmart to clean up their market place of this BS and be more proactive in giving refunds.
Thank you for diving into this matter and sharing it with us. Thankfully every time I was about to order Pokemon cards from Walmart website, something told me not to once I saw the third-party seller. I was always worried about being scammed.
That's the thing about these "help chats" and such, they just put you through the run around and wait until you give up, 99% of people will and never receive their justice.
