HUGE Pokemon Card Scam EXPOSED
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 11 мар 2022
- It all started when a member of the channel opened up a fake box of Pokemon Cards.
People getting scammed = not okay.
Members of the channel getting scammed and not being able to get a refund = even worse, and I’m not just gonna sit around and let things go unnoticed.
After a bit of first-hand investigation, I purchase the same box which leads me through a ton of breadcrumbs to discover something shocking about the connection between the box and WalMart itself.
I hope this makes some noise, and I hope this captures the attention of those who can make decisions to help protect us buyers. The fake cards are likely not going to go away, but trusted websites that well them should have protections in place.

1:37 - The 5 star review is probably to ENSURE people see the review, and it doesn't get hidden like many 1 star reviews tend do. Smart move!
Was about to comment this, it is a very smart move isnt it.
Yep
big brain poke-collector move.
Yeah I was thinking the same it makes sense!
My thoughts exactly!
This turned from a scam video to a “customer service for large companies blows” video really quickly😂
Daddy Ruxin
Yooo!
I liked the part where the one customer service lady actually helped out. Not all humans are trash
Yow Mr Ruxin ello
This turned into a full blown investigation with plots and twists, and i loved it
Mate! Great video, and its fantastic to see that this is a response from one of your fans getting scammed and you getting involved to stop it happening to others. Can’t wait to see the second part!
Putting this horrible experience aside, your video is super entertaining. Great video. Can’t wait to see what happens. Keep it up
Hello there!
Sus
$170 for a $800 booster box screams fake from the go. What they think the prices are that good at walmart?
Do you like pokemon cards, or your just a ANIMAL CROSSING GUY
AC!
How Walmart is letting scam companies on their website, or marketplace is just insane, and really concerning! Also they are partners with the company? Wow!!! This is sad!
They are trading their reputation and image for money, and eventually that means they will become known for it and will end up ruining their business and making less money as a result.
Well maybe because there telling adults to grow up
@@Jfieldsend94 In theory. Look at all the steps he had to go through to finally get his money back. All they need is for less ambitious people to either take the loss or take a smaller refund, and they keep making money.
Yeah, they've been doing this for a long time. Not just with cards, but with other things as well. In my personal experience: Even in stores, they've been selling well-known fake USB drives which claim to have ludicrous amounts of space on them. This isn't a problem for someone who knows stuff like I do, but the everyday individual might not realize that it's fake, and end up losing important data because they tried to store it somewhere that doesn't actually exist.
@@Jfieldsend94 They might be planning an exit and is why they don't care at the moment. Might be a buyout soon.
I’m glad you made this video this making millions of people aware of this saving them from getting scammed and keeping the pressure on Walmart to get the fake cards off the shelves.
i seen a few of your videos before but i just now hit sub.. the bench was wet line was hilarious. you do a lot of cool editing and have great information. glad to have you in this community. thanks for being you have a great day. you are awesome!!
This needs to go viral. Walmart has got to know this stuff is going on.
walmart does know, they just dont care lol
The problem is Walmart don't care
@@JUNOMAN ya that's the sad truth...they probably do know or at the very least have an idea of what goes on and just choose to turn a blind eye...all out of greed
They clearly know they're selling scam items, so much so that they're being sued for selling rayon products as bamboo.
Walmart knows
I'm more into Yu-Gi-Oh so I was expecting "oh they making mystery power boxes for Pokémon now" not Walmart is selling fake boosters. Absolutely mind blowing that this can happen
Thank god this isnt as prominent with Yugioh.
This makes me worried that potentially ASDA in the UK is selling fake cards considering they are one and the same company.
This is why I ALWAYS use a credit card.
If the company refuses a refund for a fake/damage product I can simply issue a chargeback.
Isn't that technically fraud, even if the item is damaged?
@@tomd96 Isn't selling counterfeit items technically fraud? Even if the item isn't damaged?
Mad props to you for taking the dive and throwing almost $200 and a lot of hours at what was certainly a scam, and suffering through the stress, to try and improve things for consumers.
I’m curious if letting the Pokémon company know about it would help in any way. I know they don’t like scammers, maybe if they send a cease and desist it would help.
They are aware and in business with this china company. Investigate it and you will see, they are complicit in this.
@@VantageCollective Definitely not. Pokemon wants as many buyers as possible. Putting possible new hobbyists off by having a fake card company selling them for them is not how you do that.

Awesome video dude! I stopped buying cards from Walmart a long time ago just because of those Fairfield company scams before but this is ridiculous! I hate fake cards they have always felt toxic and poisonous anytime I have seen or held any. I hope they sort all of that out soon even if it cuts into their dirty business tactics like this. Imagine the number of people who bought product like that just to quit the hobby after no refund? All of that money goes somewhere for some crook to spend and make things worse. Keep up the amazing work Detective Deep Pockets!

Almost made me sick to my stomach, how can you treat people like this as a retailer..?
You have golden patience bro, I'm not sure I would've remained this calm.
It's not Walmart, the issue is the 3rd party seller. Every time I had a problem, Walmart did help me immediately. It's way more complicated if the problem is a 3rd party seller, another person, or company who sells the product on their site. Just think about, it, a customer service person, probably in India, can't really check if the counterfeit issue is a real problem or someone is trying to scam the site/the 3rd party seller. However at this point WMT should take the steps, ask the problem is escalated, and seeing the 1-star ratings and complaints on the site, it's obviously not a made-up claim, it's a real problem.
Simple. Walmart, as a corporation, doesn't care. They're making absurd amounts of money from that company being partnered with them. They don't care if the products are fake. It's not coming from Walmart directly so they completely ignore it because it's not ruining their reputation. They're gonna continue making billions upon billions of dollars, regardless.
@@thatmaninblack Except, as stated in the video, JD isn't just some 3rd party seller, they are in part owned by Wal-Mart.
@@gljames24 : Yes, and it makes the problem more serious.

There was a video where a guy got 8 full booster boxes that had all been done this way, and lots of other people posting vids too.
I have got scammed with fake pokemon card many times, and the last time that this happened one of my family members bought them as a gift for me, but it wasn't from Walmart or Target it was something like a little store that probably doesn't exist in the US. What you are doing is really big and I am sure that every single person in this community are glad you are doing this including me thank you

I would have been so mad if this happened to me. So sry for all the people who have thrown their hard earned cash into the Abyss named Walmart.
They should rename the Company to Wishmart.

This is exactly why I don't trust walmart when it comes to pokemon cards, they're too open with third party sellers, and make the images so convincing since you can't see the real thing in person.
I hope no one else falls for this scam, SPREAD THE MESSAGE
Edit: Damn, the way you filmed the video looks so good, hoping to see even better stuff in the future!
It's a 3rd party issue. If you buy the cards, you buy them from the 3rd party seller, not from Walmart. That's why the refund is difficult. They don't sell the cards, another company does. However, indeed, Walmart should take steps immediately. This is got out of hand. :-/
Agree. Make sure it’s sold by Walmart, 3rd party sellers on Walmart site.
Walmart should definitely give you your money back. But for people who don’t know they have 3rd party sellers. Do not buy anything that is not sold & shipped by Walmart. That’s a big no no. And Amazon is the same. Make sure you use prime 👍 good luck. Sorry about your fake Pokémon cards
@@jenny9658 The first part is true, but Amazon is different. If a 3rd party seller scams you, you get your money from Amazon itself, instantly. That's the reason I often buy things on Amazon from 3rd party sellers. The money is safe there. Unfortunately, scammers like to scam sellers there, so, the story is the opposite on Amazon...
Pat, thank you for always going above and beyond for this community. Also can we get a full 'PatFlynnvestigation' series please??? I am all here for this.
Hope your feeling better today!
i second this.
My kid got this pack for Christmas.... He's 10. As soon as he started opening packs I got very suspicious. After he pulled like 30 Charizards, none of which were holo, I knew. Plus the cards felt more plastic. Anyways, he was so excited after every big pull..... I felt so bad and did not tell him right away, because I didn't want to ruin his Christmas. I did finally tell him this week, and thankfully he understood and took it well... That being said, this is extremely infuriating. Thanks for taking this and getting it out. Hopefully this will help prevent more families from being screwed.
Agreed, I bought one of these out of desperation to make a Pokemon card reveal video, during the card shortage. That was a colossal waste of time and money. The only good thing I got out of it was one of the coins, and a promo Pokemon card. All the cards were common, and I got a total of eight energies out of all of the cards. I won't be doing that again unless I truly have to.
Someone should try bringing a deck of these to actual tournaments just to prove how rampant the issues are. Get the big guys in to stop the scams,
Caterpie EX deck when
I really appreciate you digging into this, making this video, and hopefully making a change! This is atrocious. It's a complete disaster that places like Walmart & Best Buy, allow outside sellers to sell directly on their websites. They should just stop all of this.
The stupid thing is walmart and bestbuy can’t claim no responsibility for these sellers committing fraud
@@vegas_party_animal7737 They are not responsible for the sellers, however, they are responsible for taking down the problematic products.

Good job Pat. You are amazing!
Hopefully you won't get any report or experience of scam from Amazon too. I had a personal experience of it before and still seeing and hearing some more related to trading cards online purchase too. So far the difference is, it's not a fake trading cards but opened or re sealed packs.
A new series 🙌🏻 I’m here for it! 🤩 glad you were able to finally get your money back 😊
Wait a minute.... shouldn't this be against the law for Walmart to be selling this to folks? Considering the fact that many people has been fined for selling pirated Goods like this. But yet Walmart is allowed to continue selling this garbage........
Yeah, I cant see how Walmart isnt primed for a huge lawsuit.
Super well made! New subscriber here and I am mighty impressed, Pat!
Thats terrible that a big company like Walmart are willing to sell fake products on there sites. I always use trusted pokemon distributors so I know my products are legit. I would think Walmart would be in the trusted distributors but after seeing this I guess not. Thanks DPM for doing this for the community and sorry you got done over like that
Yep after hearing so many horro stories of fake products haunting WalMart shelves, i stuck to only buying from local game stores with a certification of trust and reporte. No more WalMart. This just solidified things more.
eBay is another giant that allows people to sell fake products & pass them off as real. I've also seen fake merchandise in brick-and-mortar Toyworld stores.
its gotten to the point you can't trust sellers no matter the store.
I would rather have the rolex then the caterpie Ex

I'm so glad videos like this are getting made to spread awareness of this. Walmart NEEDS to do something about the selling of counterfeit products.
I hope a corporate member of Walmart with some actual compassion for customers sees this and brings more attention to it.
We need to get nintendo in on this.
Thank you for this video. I ordered 2 silver tempest booster boxes from Joybuy through Walmart. Luckily I saw this video in time to cancel my order. Kind of bummed that I won’t be getting two booster boxes but glad to avoid the scam. Great work! You have a new subscriber.
The sad thing about this Walgreens is now the company that is promoting them with their false advertising with their mystery Box saying u could get a vintage pack but everybody that I've talked to has only gotten modern packs this company needs 2 be stopped
Why does a huge retailer like Walmart need to "partner" with a 3rd party distributer??? You're telling me Walmart can't figure out how to get real Pokemon cards by themselves?
Most likely cheaper to go third party
@@some_shitposting_idiot3023 Of course they are cheaper. They're fake
why pay their own money to buy and hold inventory when they can take a cut of someone else's sale with 0 cost to themselves, 100% profit for them.

Thanks Pat. Little guys like us can’t make enough noise for Walmart to hear. Keep that pressure on them!
This is why i stopped shopping at walmart years ago. They started putting these things on store shelves in 2019 in illinois and refused refunds
funny last year i ordered a 'monster hunter switch bundle' for $180(Canadian) off Walmart's website from a 3rd party seller which was for my daughter for xmas(she wanted a switch and the price was amazing), the day i was supposed to receive it i got an email saying my order was cancelled, i contacted Walmart and they said it was cancelled by the seller and they would get them to contact me within 48 hours, a day later i received the email from the 3rd party saying Walmart messed up and they would send my the bundle it i would EMT them the money for it, it reaked of scam so i never replied, went to Best Buy and bought the animal crossing one there for $400. I will NEVER buy off of Walmart's website again, lesson learned
Brilliant use of storyline! I’m hooked.
I unfortunately was sent counterfeit Canon ink cartridges that didn't work in my printer from Walmart. I sent them back the next day. Never got a replacement or a refund. It's been half a year, and I'm not getting that refund. It's horrible what they're doing
if you look they are sold by third party, ya they should verify but you can't just blame it all on Walmart.

4:30 That ripped a piece of my soul away with it. I haven't even played physical TCGs since 2013. When Amazon gets the moral high ground you know somethings messed up.
When buying from Walmart or Amazon ALWAYS go to filter results and choose Walmart or Amazon so it's coming directly from them. There's a huge problem with both these sight, ur almost guaranteed to get fake cards if it's not sold directly by them. There are legit 3rd party sellers on both those sites but you have to know what you're doing. #1 rule with pokemon cards especially on websites like those two, if it's too good to be true, IT IS...ALWAYS.

@@RocSandy the thing that always confused me about Walmart is when your looking for something and you don’t know if what you want is in Canada or the U.S.A. Or china
Both Walmart online and Amazon have been absolutely destroyed by third-party Chinese sellers. Both platforms are WAY too lenient with them. They can basically get away with selling anything with no repercussions - and that parent company having an actual partnership with Walmart is INSANE! Also spoiler alert, the source of these fakes are Chinese factories and distributors you can find via Alibaba or Aliexpress. Incredible video Pat, it's really important to bring awareness to this.
This was such a deep dive I was not prepared
This honestly sucks. The only “fake” cards are the custom booster packs who admit they have custom cards that are original (like different pokémons and different art) and they admit.
I would always see these at flea markets And I wondered where they get their supply from. I guess this answers my question. they probably get the full retail value of a box if they can sell to kids and collectors who don't know better.
One time when I was very young and still collected Pokemon cards, got one of these, as well as one for yugioh, was very excited to see cards with ridiculous hp and attack values. Luckily never used them as I just collected never really learned how to play, but yeah, those sat in my collection for a while until I figured out they were fakes and tossed them.
1:33
In case you're confused why a 5 star rating was given to the scam product:
Walmart will show the top voted "Positive" review and the top voted "negative" review.
So the top negative review has "This is a scam" and people upvote it for helpful.
But now the top POSITIVE review also says "This is a scam"
So, when a customer goes to the page, the top voted positive AND negative review say that it's a scam
This is to ensure that the company can't do review manipulation with a 5 star "This is a good legit box" rating.

Selling knock of Pokémon cards is one thing. I have bought a box or two just for fun in the past. That being said, I paid around $14 for the box and knew it for a fake when I ordered it.
The problem comes when they represent it as the real thing and charge real Pokémon prices for it. We all appreciate your work to help remedy the situation.
Funny as a small business card shop owner we have to be careful with our orders because the company can cut us off. Or if we did this we would be labeled as scam artists. But Walmart knowing full well knows what they are selling and nothing is done.
As someone who grew up with pokemon and used to collect the cards even into my teens, this was so sad to see, I hope they got sued.
That ending got me to hit like and subscribe. Great job brother
That's the thing about these "help chats" and such, they just put you through the run around and wait until you give up, 99% of people will and never receive their justice. It's literally a scam by Walmart and other companies. And there should be legal action or something taken against them. This should be illegal.
I guess I’ve been lucky that help chats over the last 5 years fully refunded for me every times. I have no issues with it, and they usually take me 5-15 min to do
If you notify Nintendo they will probably end their whole company
I also bought fake cards, that looked just the same, from aliexpress. They were free because it was my first buy on aliexpress, but otherwise they would have cost me 7,50 for 2 boosters

I actually got scammed once in Spain, I was buying Pokémon cards at like a garage sale or something. The cards where really bad and didn’t look real at all. I was about six years old and didn’t care back then but now I care and threw all the fake cards away.
You should probably be able to report Walmart for fraud on a Federal level.

@@mothh Pretty sure you're joking but I'll bite. ^_^
There is a purpose from reporting Walmart for fraud and it's not actually that hard to do. Just find the correct gov website for it.
Believe it or not, the government will eventually look into it. It probably helps if more than one person reports it. Even if Walmart can prove they aren't responsible, they'll still have to deal with it. It could force Walmart to clean up their market place of this BS and be more proactive in giving refunds.
