I am planning to do Human Body Unit (I got motivated by one of your video were you did a Dinosaurs unit so I am planning to make my own unit 😉), Space Unit and Animals (I am not sure whether I'll try to do it myself or use a curriculum)
Great video! This is how I organize all of my binders, as well. I get white 3-ring binders from Sam's Club, because they're the most cost effective. I, also, put as much as possible into sheet protecters and into baggies. I sometimes use binder clips to clip the top of the sheet protector closed. The binder clips are a bit stronger for the bulkier ones. You can make a half sized "envelope" from a sheet protector by cutting it in half, or cut just the front side in half, then fold down the back part and crease it along the halfway line. That will give you a flap to hold the items in. Thanks for.this video. I'll share it on my FB page.😀👍
I originally found your channel searching for TGTB science videos and I found your space unit study setup. I loved it so much I bought flex binders for all the TGTB science units. I went ahead and bought all the TGTB science units (except chemistry because my kids are still in elementary level). My shelf looks really nice and neat with the flex binders :) thank you for introducing me to them! 🥰
We are doing Mammals this year also. A lot of what I did looks much like yours, however, you gave some great ideas of things I hadn't thought of yet. Thanks so much!
I was actually looking at your binding video the other day. I haven't had a chance to finish it but it's on my Watch Later list and I keep meaning to go back to it. The Happy Planner disc rings pulled me in. I LOVE seeing how people bind stuff. 😂🤓
This year I'm doing The Safety unit and also the Marine Biology Unit from the Good and the beautiful. I'm so excited! I love love to prepare and cut everything from the lessons too. Thanks for Sharing!
Your videos get better all the time. I love love love they way you organized the vocabulary words in those baggies. I hate to fumble when I need those. I will be working on mine tonight. Thank you sooooo much for that fabulous idea.
Thank you so much for sharing this video!!:) i just purchased the mammals unit and when I got it in the mail, i felt overwhelmed immediately, this video really helped me to see that I can organize it easily so that its not so daunting.
You are so sweet. I love this, thank you! I am a sheet protector lover! 😂 I buy them reasonably at target. Girl, my husband bought me bright white paper from Office Depot and it was like Christmas! This is the nicest paper I’ve ever had. I also have that laminator, it stores so easily and works just as well as it did when I bought it years ago (from Target) great investment!
Yes! They're definitely an investment but they have lastest so much longer than regular ones. And I like that they don't take up a lot of room when I'm teaching. 🤓❤ Thanks for watching friend!
I just found your channel, and I'm having so much fun watching your videos! You're a great source of information, as well as joy and excitement for homeschooling! Thank you!
Hi Dina! Love the ideas in this video ... Especially the flex binder. I heard you mention adjusting the activities for you littles and so far that's why I haven't actually bought a science unit, the samples (even the marine biology which is free) seem so over her head. I know they created the science units so that multiple levels could be taught at the same time but I really do wish it had different levels.
I will work on that review! ;) We love it btw! Worth every penny! I'm thinking about getting the Early American History this year when they come out with the next edition in August. :)
We are starting to homeschool this year and this video is super helpful. We got the mammals curriculum too for my 2nd grader and I think the saved videos are genius! Is there any way you can share that playlist? That’s would be sooo helpful!
Love your ideas for setting up this unit. I usually bind our science units or put it in a regular three-ring binder but I may try this for our next unit. 🙂
Yes! They hold up so much better than the regular binders. ❤ Safety is a great one and I hope to do Botany next year. Have fun with those! Looks like you have a fun year of science planned! 🤓
Loved the video. I am currently putting safety and space science together! Thanks for the idea for the flex binder. I have them for the units im working on and love the quality! Thanks again! Always look forward to your videos.
Just found you as I try to put together our first ever 3 of TGTB Science Units. You are so sweet. Blessed my heart immediately I wanted to cry. God bless you and your family. Are you on Facebook as well?
I am so glad I found this video! We are about to start mammals and your video helped so much! For the student journals, do you have all student activities already in journals? Or do they start our with an empty journal and you add to it after each lesson? Did you find the content advanced for your girls' ages?
I will definitely be working on that video. We love BFB btw. 😉 We did the space unit a couple of years ago and we LOVED it! You can't go wrong with those two choices!
Oh, loved this video so much!! Love organizing things ❤️ I would love to see you BFB unit bc we are debating Around the World with Picture Books, but I'm just not sure on it.
Hi Dina! Love all your videos! I currently homeschool my 6 year old who will be starting 1st grade in August! Just wanted to say hi! Enjoy your weekend! Be blessed!
This was fun to watch it gives me lots of ideas on how to organize my science units. We are gonna be doing this same unit but later in the year. I understand what you mean about it being slightly over little kids heads. I hope I won't need to parafraze it too much. Hopefully our littles can understand it.
Yeah. As I was looking through it, a lot of it is activities so I'm hoping that will keep their attention. I'm planning on finishing this before the new school year so hopefully I'll be able to give a more "customized for kids" review like my Space Unit. 😉🙏
Aw that's too bad. A regular binder is just fine. Or you can just not have the cover on it...I know that's not great and probably something I'd try to avoid. LOL! But I keep reminding myself it doesn't have to be perfect...it will still get the job done. :) ❤
Great organization! Will be looking forward to your thoughts on this unit as my oldest is six as well. We have yet to use TGAB science units but this particular one is on my radar :) I like to organize things too! :)
Thank you! Lord willing we'll be able to finish this before the new school year so hopefully I'll be able to do a review on it with enough time to you to plan. 😉
Ahh!! I LOVE your organization! Makes my heart so happy! I’m getting so many ideas from you! Are you a former teacher?! Thank you for sharing all of this!!
Thank you for this helpful video! We are starting homeschool in the fall. I may start a science unit in the summer to ease our way in, and because I've already purchased 3 science units 🙊😊 This video really helped. Are the student notebooks filled up as we go through the unit? With worksheets and such that I'll hand out?
Oh how exciting Stefanie! Homeschooling is a wonderful adventure. 😁 Yes! There will be activity sheets or suggestions along the way. Just have paper ready in their notebooks. 😉
Hi there. I’m new to the good and the beautiful, and this is so helpful! I’m ordering everything to do the same organization for our first unit. I have a question though. When your done with the unit, do you take all the pages back out of the sheet protectors? and then how do you store them?
Hi! I actually just buy another binder and sheet protectors. But you can just take the pages out and put it all in a file folder or accordion file or something like that. It's very easy to store away. 😁
Hi Dina! Off topic from this video but I believe in a past video you mentioned you teach your kiddos Spanish. Do you have a video on this or suggestions on what you use? I am pretty proficient in Spanish so I could do the teaching just wondering if there is a good curriculum that you recommend. :) thanks!
How do you like doing tgtb when all your children are so young? I’m looking into their science as well but I have a 1st grader and a preschooler so I thought maybe it’s best to hold off until they are older and get something more geared towards young elementary. I know tgtb has work that’s for the younger ones but it also has a ton of other stuff for older students which I would not be using so I thought maybe I’m better off just doing something more geared towards early elementary.
I find ways to make it a little more "little kid friendly." But it had enough stuff in there about animals and they could play all the games. But at this age you could really go either way and be totally fine. 😉
I hope you can help me understand this, I'm somewhat new to the good and the beautiful. We've only done one language arts and one math from them so far. I was planning on buying a science unit for the upcoming school year. What's the reason behind you organizing it like this, is it because you want to use it for multiple children? I assume they come binded? I know you can get the PDFs but for me personally the printing myself would cost me more plus my time. So could I just buy the binded and then copy the pages I want to use for my second child? Thank you, I'm new to this.
That's a great question! They actually don't come binded. I use this because I plan on using it again in the future and I personally don't like regular binders when I'm teaching. (My own preference) But binding can be as simple as getting a binder and hole punching the pages. 😉 I hope that answered you question.
@@PursuingPeace ah that makes sense. Thank you so much for your reply! I will definitely be reviewing this video again once I receive my science unit. Thank you again, I love your channel!
Have you bought one of the Flex customizable cover notebooks lately? I think they discontinued the customizable cover which stinks because I want to put the unit cover sheet in it.
I actually bought one recently for our Arthropods unit. Sometimes Amazon stops carrying them from different vendors so you just have to keep scrolling to find one. But they had all different colors.
@@PursuingPeace Thanks! When I looked they just didn’t have the ones where you could slip in a cover sheet but I found one on the Five Star website. I’m putting it together for our Arthropod unit too!
Science is one of those things that I haven't quite found what I like yet as far as the teaching side of things goes. I think we might have to try TGATB at some point. It looks too good!
We are doing mammals this year as well. I have a question. Will you use the same binder again for another unit or will you get a new binder for the next science unit?
Hi Melanie! So far I've bought a new binder every time. But there's no reason you couldn't just use one binder and switch out the unit every time. I would probably just store the old unit in a hanging file or file folder unit we wanted to use it again. 😉
Hi Elva! I'm actually doing this for summer school. So we'll be doing it everyday but that's all we'll be doing. I've done unit studies 2x a week or on our weeks off during the regular school year. 😊 Did that answer your question???
Hi Linda! Since we do these science units over the summer or winter break, we usually do them consecutively. If I were to do them during the school year I would probably only do them once or twice a week. :)
Asking because I know your kiddos are younger, did you do kingdoms of classification like tgtb recommends prior to mammals? I'm organizing mine while watching your video and so much of this looks way over my will be 1st and 3rd graders heads.
I didn't. Mostly because we've touched on Kingdoms and Classifications with CC. I honestly don't think it's necessary to know in order to enjoy and learn in the Mammals unit.
@@PursuingPeace I like that it's introducing microscopes but I think my kids learning the same cell stuff I learned in nursing school, they're going to be like 🤯
I have a binder so each of them and they put them in their binder. Then at the end of the unit study I take all their work out of the binder and put it in the Memory box for the end off the year. 😁
@@PursuingPeace Oh ok! And do you still use loose lined papers in the kids science journal binders or a notebook? Trying figure out the best way to set it up..
Does the lamination hold up well after the sides have been cut off? I always cut out, then laminate, then cut again and it’s such a pain. I didn’t know you could laminate a whole sheet and then cut out!
Yes it works well to laminate then cut. That's the only way I've ever done it. But get the Scotch laminating sheets. The other brands I've tried don't stick very well without the edges sealed.
It's perfect for my 2nd and 1st grader so far. Even my preschooler does it with us for a bit. But she will usually go off and play half way through the lesson. 😉 It's got some great activities and explains things very well! ❤
Ignore this comment if you’re a loyal Walmart shopper (insert my mother 😂). Sadly, a lot of things sold at Walmart are bottom of the barrel…sorry. That’s why things bought there are a little different or don’t last as long as the ones you buy on Amazon or at target or Office Depot. There are always exemptions though. Name brands sometimes are equal to other distributors but not always. Sorry. 🤦🏼♀️
I think everyone who shops at Walmart already realizes they're risking quality for price. Although I've had a trash can, laundry sorter, crib and changing table that have lasted 8 to 14 years. 😃 So it really is a toss up. Lol!
@@PursuingPeace, I think that is the perfect way to put it! I bought snake traps there, it’s a long story, and they didn’t even keep the snake trapped! 😆😂
What are y'all doing for science this year? 🤓❤
We are doing MasterBooks Life Science for Beginners to start and will probably do a few G&B units next semester, but haven't decided which ones :)

@@PursuingPeace Oh ok! And do you still use loose lined papers in the kids science journal binders or a notebook? Trying figure out the best way to set it up..
I like loose paper because I can give them just what they need and not have a lot of extra. 😁
@@PursuingPeace okay, I have the Amazon brand right now. I’ll have to get the scotch ones then!
Just curious how long on average does it take for 1 lesson?
It has been taking us anywhere from 1 hr to 1.5 hrs. 😁 But if you have older kids I can see it getting done within an hour.
@@PursuingPeace one hour to do the lesson in one sitting or the total time you spend on it during a week?
We did 1 hour lessons. But that's including reading a book and probably watching a video. So it's not 1 hr of sitting at the table.
Do you find this unit too advanced for littles?
It's perfect for my 2nd and 1st grader so far. Even my preschooler does it with us for a bit. But she will usually go off and play half way through the lesson. 😉
It's got some great activities and explains things very well! ❤
Ironically I was cutting out curriculum as I watched this video 😂
Nice!!! 🤓❤
Cutting is therapeutic! 😂
What is the 'science journal'? Could you go into a bit more detail?
Hi Kayla! It's basically just a binder with blank paper. When they do any activities from the Science unit, this is where we keep it all. 😊❤
@@PursuingPeace Thank you :) !
Super helpful, thank you!
