Hi Conley, sometimes you just have those days, 2 steps backwards for 1 step forward. Hope that you and your family and all here had a great Thanksgiving !
I have had bad sensor beep syndrome with our Claas combines. A pair of ear defenders works wonders while the sensor is on it's way. In your situation, you could roll up a piece of cotton for each ear and fill the void in the ear defenders with more cotton so you can keep going and not go insane! Anyway, its nice to finish that last field of cotton.
I loved the tour of beautiful downtown Dell City! That "river" flows all the way across the Van Horn highway. Your dusk view of the mountains is beautiful. Have you ever seen a Blue Origin launch while you were working? Is Jeff Bezos a good neighbor?
Noticed you were still running autotrac. To get rowsense to work you have to go into guidance menu. Change from automatic to manual and then select rowsense. Our pickers will go back to autotrac every time you shut them off. If you don't select manual it will tell you you need a subscription. Hope it helps. Drove me crazy until i figured it out
Howdy Conley, just wanted to make a comment about the cleaning process. I’m over east in South Georgia and some people do use air compressors to clean the machines but the most common practice I’ve seen is using the big backpack leaf blowers. They’ll still clean the machine and you don’t have to rely on having an air compressor handy. Just washed to share that idea
I really enjoy your videos, I have learned a lot about cotton and strippers and pickers. We don't have any cotton grown in the part of Tn. where we live. Do you mind if I ask how many total acres you all farm?
One round bale can weigh up to 5,000 pounds and contains about 3-4 ginned bales depending on if it was made by a picker or stripper. A ginned bale weighs 500 pounds and can make about 215 pairs of jeans
Hey Conley, Love all of your videos. Just wondering. I see a lot of land next to your cotton field and on your way to it. I see it;s not farmed. Any reason for this? Thanks
The main difference is that a picker just picks the bowls off of the cotton where a stripper takes in more of the plant and seperates the straw from the cotton in the stripper.
Pickers harvest a cleaner cotton which means more money for the product usually. Strippers harvest dirtier cotton but tend to harvest faster. The old school cotton pickers would have to go over a field several times to get all the cotton, I’m not sure with the new machines.
Not necessarily dirtier cotton but yes they do pay more for picker cotton than stripper cotton. And in good cotton I’d say pickers are faster. Main reason why we use strippers is because a lot of times we’ll end up have short cotton and that’s where the stripper thrives and the picker can leave up to a bale on just the bottom of the plants. So that’s why we have both machines. But you could talk for days about this subject there’s many reasons why you’d choose one over the other

Thank you and to you as well. Yea Sometimes it’s just like that but you gotta stay positive even when you feel like your moving backwards
It's always the first day and last da that give ya fits. Thanks for sharing
Definitely

Haha all great ideas but I’m just glad it wasn’t me lol. Even the noise canceling ear buds work great

Thank you. I’ve never seen a launch but I would love to
Wow, the advancements in agriculture technology showcased here are mind-blowing

Yea there was an underlying issue with the motem and we swapped it out and now it works

Yea I did that last year and it was nice but I think I still prefer the big air compressor more air
At least you finished up, breakdowns can be quite a challenge
Boy that's a long day , it's nice to know you're done for the year . btw , what time did you finish up ?
Around 1 o’clock
Excellent video Conley, thanks for making it for us.
That is a nice cotton crop.
Are those the Guadalupe Mts to the east of you-?
Thank you and yes they are
@@conleybanman Thanks for your reply.
Pretty good burgers down at the Comudas Cafe. Kinda pricey though.
nice❤❤❤❤❤
Happy County, was that what that sign said Conley?
It said dell city

I don’t usually share acres but we have an average size farm for our area
Howdy Conley
Where are you harvesting cotton?
Guadeloupe mountains
@@conleybanmanIs it close to Dell City?
Yes

Nice "essentials"😂😂
Being a cattle farmer in Va I know nothing about cotton. What does a bale of cotton bring?
One round bale can weigh up to 5,000 pounds and contains about 3-4 ginned bales depending on if it was made by a picker or stripper. A ginned bale weighs 500 pounds and can make about 215 pairs of jeans
@@conleybanman Thank you.
It seems there is quite a bit of cotton left after stripping it.
Similar loss to the loss of harvesting corn. Cotton loss just tends to be more visible
Seems we have more problems with sensors than anything else on our combine.
That is what keeps John Deere in business.
Hey Conley, Love all of your videos. Just wondering. I see a lot of land next to your cotton field and on your way to it. I see it;s not farmed. Any reason for this? Thanks
Everything in our area is irrigated we only get about 4-8 inches of rain per year so we can only farm what’s getting irrigated
