The thing about this choreography is, although "simple"/minimal, it relies very heavily on the movement quality of the dancer to sell it. Many people have covered this choreography, but very few have been able to replicate Taemin's movement, or display their own (like Koharu here) in a way that really portrays this feeling.

In the Duo version it is indeed his choreographer.

The creator of Move LOVES Taemin, he can't stop gushing about him all over Twitter. he said that he wrote more songs that are just waiting for him.

Yes, the female dancer in #3 is the choreographer Koharu Sugawara, known for fusing modern Japanese dance styles with western hip hop, the hyper-controlled motions in “move” being a prime example. She is very famous in Japan, XG Jurin cites her as the main inspiration that got her into dance. For Taemin’s first tour they had to hire mostly Japanese backup dancers because few Korean and western dancers have exposure to the avant-garde dance theories like Butoh that are integral to Sugawara’s choreography.

The androgynous nature of this song really adds to the intrigue and makes this song more exciting, of course it is Taemin, and he always delivers the goods in spectacular fashion.

Honestly Taemin just as a soloist is in his own lane. No one does what he does in KPOP.

Move… first song I ever heard in pop.. how I discovered Taemin.. I had the same reaction as you, speechless, mesmerized, blown away… now I‘ve been into kpop for over 7 years - just to discover that I had started with the BEST.. honestly I would even not see Taemin in Kpop. He is another genre on himself.. since then the first song on my kpop list would always be „Lucifer“ from Shinee and second „Move“ from Taemin.. this has never changed.. for me Taemin is a world class performer on same level like MJ, Prince and David Bowie..

Taemin, SHINee, MJ, Prince and Bowie, your taste is impeccable (in my humble opinion) 😄

The nowdays using of the term 'cultural reset' actually came from this song. This was THE cultural reset in kpop. The storm that this song was caused, you can't imagine... Also, there is a legendary fancam where Taemin performed this song with his dancers at Seoul fashion week, just BEFORE its release and there were young idols in the audience, and they were so shocked omg, they sat there jaw-dropped... 😂 But honestly, the whole kpop industry and kpop fans were shocked by this song. ❤🎉

I’ve said it million times but Move is the song that single-handedly made me fall in love with Taemin. Actually it made such a huge impression on me it shook me to my core and made me instantly check out everything that was out there about Taemin! Basically within minutes he became my favorite artist and it never changed. If anything I only got reassured that he’s indeed a genius artist, someone who never disappoints, someone I will support for life! He has countless songs I truly love, so I don’t know if I can choose the favorite one. But Move is definitely there in my top of the top list of Taemin songs - along with Want, Advice and Criminal and recently also Guilty.

This song is fantastic but the song itself isn't the reason it's so iconic. Taemin embraced his androgynous side. Not just with his looks but he had all female dancers and was doing dance moves that were seen as more feminine instead of powerful moves which wasn't really done with male kpop idols. Everyone tried to copy his slow moves that seem simplistic, but no one could dance it like Taemin. The female dancer was the Choreographer Koharu Sugawara. She also choreographed Taemin's Sayonara Hitori, Flame of love and Criminal as well as SHINee's Good Evening. You should watch Taemin and Koharu's winning performance of Sayonara Hitori on Hit the Stage.

2017 was the year I got into kpop, and so much amazing music was released that year, but this song was my number one. It's just on another level. I'm also not a dancer, but I've heard from dancers that the choreo to this song is incredibly difficult. Not because it's fast, or there are a lot of movements, but because if you aren't super skilled, you will look like a floundering fish.

    • @kathy3459
      @kathy3459 8 месяцев назад

As a non dancing audience member, I think it's easier to hide mistakes when dancing fast/flashy choreo as part of a group. But in Move, Taemin is solo, doing slow and subtle movements. If he makes a mistake, there's absolutely no place to hide it. That floundering fish comparison is great 😆

I used to have a ranking and I shared it, but after the third album it stopped working, because basically if your mood changes, your list changes, that's life.
I'll wait until you listen to all of them and see 2 concerts, and I'm sure that something you don't expect will strike you differently and change your assessment forever.

I know it's greedy but i wished you'd checked out the dance practice. For me, it punches more than the vids. The practice room is white so every single move by him and his dancers are captured - its epic. And when he performed it on the runway - again, epic. But like i said, i'm greedy. Love that you loved Move, thanks for your reaction.

You're right, Move is iconic! It's a gorgeous song and one of the reasons why Taemin's discography is so special. I struggle to choose my favorite Taemin song because there are such amazing ones to select from. I love his vibe! 😅
I think you missed reacting to "Door" which was on the last Taemin album you reacted to.

Taemin has left SM Entertainment. That surprised me. I guess SuperM has now lost both Lucas and Taemin. Best of luck to Taemin at his new entertainment company: BPM Entertainment!
