They picked the best actors to play the gang. Despite being mostly over a decade older than their characters, they really convince as angsty teens, and their chemistry really sells it!
the script really helps too, lisa mcgee is a genius, these characters say the dumbest things it’s so easy to believe they’re teenagers lol
Season 1 & 2 are funny but season-3 is failure. Why ALL actors in Season-3 acting like they have a significant distress an ongoing anger pattern? Everybody is stressful in the same way - anger, and there are no individual characters, that signify each person.
There was a show called Facts of Life (in the U.S.) a bit similar to this show and the cast was twice their characters age.
@@algoodmonin2172 this show takes place during the Troubles... I'd be constantly stressed and angry too
It's a credit to both Mcgees writing but also the actors the stupid shit they say the actors delivery it really well incredible show
- "I'm actually a boy."
- "OK love."
Xoo,ccpo
Pc mo😅
“Protestants hate ABBA” actually broke me 😂
No we don't. But the English are savages!
Its tge pronounced " hate " that got me.
Aren’t they Swedish, and Sweden is a Protestant country lol.
@@ESCFansUnited The writer was interviewed recently and said that the most contentious thing about the whole broadcast was saying that protestants don't like Abba. Not anything else about terrorists or sectarian divide. Just that protestants hate Abba! We are human.
@@andrewmcilwraith1997 lol, surely not all of them.
The whole Sister Michael hating Father Peter bit is always hilarious to watch 😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
And yet their final scene together is so great, sipping whiskey and chatting
“The hairdresser certainly did” breaks me every time 😂😂😂 gotta love a sister with the sick burns
I loved how James chose mutually assured destruction and destroyed the tickets.
What episode is that scene from? I don't remember it!
@@m.s2912 It's from series 3, episode 6, _Halloween._. The final episode (not counting the special).
In The Derry Girls I liked season 1 and 2, but the season-3 was a disaster. All Season-3 episodes are not realistic and not funny, every actor lost their own character and all actors only doing face shaking when they are speaking. What has happened with Derry Girls season-3?
@@algoodmonin2172I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought this. The ending just felt unfinished to me. I still love the show though
@@Khuyaynunacafethere’s a good chance they do something with it again, at least that’s what the creator said
Some people wake up and choose violence.
James wakes up and violence chooses him.
something about the sister michael and uncle colm scene kills me every time 😭😭
😂😂😂😂
“Sister George. Michael.” 😂
I didn’t get it
"I'm actually a boy"
"Okay, love"
My favourite dialogue “Miss Mallon, please. Raise your hand if you want to ask a question”. The penguin lady is my favourite character.
PENGUIN LADY!??? HAHAHAHHA
I just binged this entire thing and I'm so Glad I had this series during a sad Christmas season. The detention scene in episode 1 had me dying
+Rohan Lawrence when James weed himself because the girls school didn't have a boys toilet.
Had Sister Decoan dying too..
I thought I was going to throw up I laughed so hard the first time I saw that
I _would_ like to state (for the tape) that the scene with Colm coming to the R.U.C. as the girl's (and James') adult should have been included. Also, for the tape, the "funniest scenes" from _Derry_ _Girls_ is essentially the entire programme.
That part with Uncle Colm KILLED me!! I wish I'd had a Colm when I was that age and getting into shenanigans😂
There is no tape
I love uncle Colm! 😄
Michelle's smug face with one arm on Colm's shoulder is one of the best bits of the whole show
There is no tape.
Love that they got Liam Neeson to guest on the series 😂
Ill never not think about nicola channeling Nadine Coyle caught lying on camera to get into character 😂
Nadine Coyle should've been in DG.
"I do enjoy a good statue it has to be said" 😂😂😂
Erin : “Are you denying your organisation is prejudiced?”
Tywin Lannister: “Categorically.”
"I'm not sticking a scone up me hole, Orla, I'll tell ya that for nothing." 🤣🤣🤣
"The hairdresser certainly did." The actress playing the Protestant woman looks like she's trying hard not to laugh at that moment.
"Protestants hate abba" always makes me laugh 😂
Who is that
I just binge-watched this whole show. I’m so sad to have finished it. It was hilarious!
"What you do with my razor?!"
I swear to God if my husband could talk to me after I died this is what he'd be saying 😒😒🤣
I don't usually get emotional but several episodes of Derry Girls just broke me up. Maybe because I grew up during that same time period and was aware of the terrible conditions. It must have been so difficult from the teens' perspective when just getting to adulthood is difficult enough without a civil war. Kudos to everyone involved in the film.
“Ok love”
😂😂 complete disregard
Kevin and his mother need their own spin off show
Holy fecking shite! They do! I can’t wait for season 3 to be released on Netflix. 😹😹
“This job pays for your FECKING gambling habit, YOU UNGRATEFUL OLD BAG!”
@@FirestarTTR2000what is it
This show deserved so much more
"The hairdresser certainly did" and "For this to be over" will truly be the best lines of this show
Liam Neeson 😂❤🎉 was not expecting him in this show
It made my jaw drop, but then again he is from Ireland.
@@philipdefibaugh5683 Northern Ireland
currently rewatching this show for the third time!
one of the best shows ever
One Day I put this on for literally no reason at all other than to have background Noise.
And for whatever reason like 4 episodes in I started paying attention and now this is like my favorite show
It's soooooo funny
Same thing happened to me 😂 just wanted something to help me sleep and I ended up watching it all night 😂
I love how Sister Michael doesn't take shit from anyone at all and won't hesitate to roast any and everybody 💀💀
I absolutely loved Derry Girls. Wanted more of it!
COLM IS LITERALLY MY FAVORITE PERSON EVER 😭😭😭
Wait, you cut it off before Uncle Colm came to the rescue with Liam Neeson!
"There. Is. No. Tape."
I love their accent so soooo much 🤭
If you have had a shity day watch this its hilarious love the actors 🤣 sooo good 👍
It's a bit depressing that several of them are in their 30s, I'm 38, and there's no flippin' way I'd EVER be cast as a teenager😅
I know how you feel, I’m 38 as well and there’s no chance 😂still feel like a teenager though.

@@algoodmonin2172 Well, I believe you're in the minority; I don't think I even understand what you're talking about. And season 3, it WAS funny but it also took place during a time of major political history (the Good Friday Agreement) coinciding with everyone coming of age. I think they did an excellent job of portraying being 17/18, which is a confusing time, and how they were beginning to make decisions on their own that affect the rest of their lives, not to mention the voting episode which affected everyone in the country. Your whole life is ahead of you at that age, which is exciting, but also reality sinks in and you start to see the world not as black and white anymore, but shades of grey. Derry Girls wasn't meant to be just a sitcom; in it's core it's a coming of age show and I think they really hit the nail on the head.

@@algoodmonin2172you're all out here hating on season 3. You're replying in every comment. And you're just repeating everything. Maybe the show is not for you because it has somehow deep meaning in it. You want all rainbows
This is my favorite show of all time! I wish there were more episodes!
My favourite 2 will always be
1) Them being caught stealing from the Dead Nun while James pisses in the corner
2) The Sister on the bus laughing at her book, which is The Exorcist.
Im sad that this show only has 3 seasons but some of the best comedy shows only have 2 or 3 seasons father ted, fawlty towers, the inbetweeners, end it while your at the top of your game and thats what Mcgee did fairplay to her shes a brilliant writer and these character are fecking brilliant 😂 👏
"...the headmistress, one Sister George Michael-"
"-George Michael!?"
(Ron Howard's voiceover) Hey!
😂😂😂Two absolutely fantastic shows
Most of the cast were previously unknown, yet the viewing figures were high for every episode. The Inbetweeners took two years to become popular & Friday Night Dinner took seven years to do so. Peep Show has never had mainstream success. What made DG immediately very popular, but not the others?
I don't know about Friday Night Dinner, but the others are quite.. male-centric, aren't they?
I'm not really up to date on tv now, but I remember as a teenager I found it really difficult to find series that appealed to me with women in the lead. Could it be that there's still a larger output of British comedy shows with male leads, dividing potential viewers, while there're less comedies with female leads, meaning everyone interested in that is going to be watching DG?
I remember there was a similar theory floated about the success of Wonder Woman, even beyond the objective quality of the movie. There being a lot of superhero movies but still only a few focusing on a woman.
As I said, I'm not really up on current tv shows so it's just a theory.
Peep Show has cult status
I.T. Crowd started small but gathered a massive, international following
@@BeautifulGoodbye13 All three of the main characters in the sitcom Drifters are female, but that's never been popular either.
I looked up 'best British comedy series' after writing this comment, and 8 of 52 results seem to be female-led, 28 male-led. Even the ensemble shows don't have an even distribution, don't get me wrong I love IT Crowd and Black Books but they both have one woman each and even most of the supporting roles are men.
It's probably not the only factor, but I still think it's a factor nonetheless.
Orla mccool best character ever 🤣🤣🤣
So much love for this show!!!
I am so glad I watched this show!! It was freaking amazing
I can’t believe they’re all 30 irl!
The one of the funniest on earth that's still alive whoever wrote this
It took a long time to get into this show. I kept meaning to have a look and then forgot about it, but I finally started a week or so ago.
Now I'm just sad that it ended.
Funny, poignant, nostalgic, eye-opening and a load of Northern Irish accents phrases...so there were. I've totally saved 'who put 50p in the eejit'.
Uncle Colum is my fave 😂
I was at a wedding recently,I met a real Derry Girl…she was off her head, but funny as fuck.
For me nothing will ever top “HI I’M A LESBIAN”
That was sooo funny
'Catholics watch RTE' had me howling. 😂
I binged all seasons in just 3 days!! Man this is the best thing I’ve ever watched, I wish there was a way to erase all I know so I can experience this again.
I'm with clients, mother, you're scaring away the spirits mother...😂😂❤
The hairdresser certainly did....
The wedding is the absolute laugh fest 😂😂😂
Top should obviously be uncle Colm and Sister Michael. And where's Clare calling Jenny's mum a drunk?
I love the drunk Clare scene.
‘Your ma is inappropriate’ 😂
@@Beneaththeboughs lol yeah. Solid delivery.
So good!
Sister George Michaels sent me
Absolutely brilliant 😂 👍 👍 👍
Took me an episode or two to understand what people were on about, but this series was fuckin hilarious.
"There is no tape" haha
"Sister George Michael." Bwahahaha. 🤣🤣🤣
My dad the same as sarah with the collection lmao. Put in a tenner went to take change and my mum told him absolutely not
😄😅
Hahaha..that's brilliant.
Absolute ballhooks !!!
The bully’s scream 😆 1:21
I need new seasons 😭😭
The wedding scene killed me
Just finished it all today laughed my ass off Clare is hilarious
What a fcking masterpiece!!
i do enjoy a good statue 😂😂😂😂
Mad Stab really wanted those tickets
The wedding scean is morethan funniest man it is Classic it art man
Being an old fuddy-duddy I hate swearing in tv and films but with dialogue this good it seem sacrilegious to use the bleeper.
"Protestants love soup."
Class ❤
I so love the thumbnail
3:39 👍🤣♥️
UNDERRATED
I love Liam made an appearance!
Such a funny show
"is this my wake?"
haha heee this was funny
We would like to speak to a solicitor please!
why isn't this on dvd?
What was the wedding scene from?
Which episode is with the medium pls?
I'm sad they won't make season 4
Sister George Michael. They really took a steaming shit on her character. It’s great.
Did they not know her full name until that moment? 6:13 lol
I can’t believe they excluded Janette Joyce formerly O’Shea from this compilation!
We need a crossover of Derry Girls and the Inbetweeners.
Liam. There's is no tape.
Omg
I will f watch this
'hate abba' fucking lost it
😂😂😂
Barry Welsh funny and offenders you recognise this voice
Varys?!! @1:54
I'm ulster and this series is hilarious but sometimes I have no idea what they are sayings ala my grandfather and grandmother actually pop and Nana/ actually my gay cousin Austin was from Derry and when he came to the states he went down to the jersey shore telling this guy about where he lived in Derry / so the guy asked so what part of New York r u from 😂
