  • Matt Swaim, Ken Hensley and Kenny Burchard continue their series on Dei Verbum, the Second Vatican Council's document on Divine Revelation.
How does God reveal his Word to humanity? How did the Holy Spirit work through the human authors of Scripture to transmit the message of salvation? By what means has this revelation been preserved and handed down?
And how does the Catholic understanding of all of this compare to the Protestant worldviews that Matt, Ken and Kenny were formed in?

Thank you for presenting "Dei Verbum"!
1:01:40 "It all makes sense," Ken says. The Judaizers that the Church had to deal with in that first Counsel reported in Acts 15, were clearly Bible-believers! They were the best Bible readers -- they were Pharisees, who believed what their Bible taught -- a man had to be circumcised to enter the Temple. If Jesus is the Temple we enter through the Eucharist, then clearly circumcision was necessary.
It needed the Church coming together in the Holy Spirit to read the Scriptures through the eyes of the Living Word Who is The Gospel, Incarnate in Jesus and continuing in the Body of His Bride, the Church.
    I love this document!

I always think that illiteracy should be mentioned alongside Sola Scriptura!

"Providence"? Me too. I didn't think about how God made sure these were the Scriptures, and no others. I just knew they were.
