Love my PRS Standard 24! Bought it new in 2020 for $500!! Great sound and playability. Lube the nut and it stays in tune well. Just for a project, I swapped out the pickups for Porter Gatekeepers. One week later I swapped them back. These 85/15 S pickups are really amazing for the price of this guitar. Bright and articulate with delay and warm when you need them to be. PRS has designed these guitars with a “treble bleed” in the volume pot. Roll off the volume for crystal clear tone. Really nice for worship songs! The neck plays great with rounded edges and no sharp frets! I don’t split the coils much as I like the sound of the humbucker mode better. Great guitar for Worship and many other styles. Thank you guys for the great Worship videos!

You guys probably realized by now but the SE does indeed have the treble bleed installed. The pups sounds pretty much identical, the biggest difference here is that the SE has a maple neck vs the mahogany of the core, as well as a steel vs brass block on the trem, which could be swapped if desired. My SE is the Floyd Rose model which I love, I have contemplated getting a brass block, but it sounds killer as is. Four years of playing and the setup is still perfect, it hasn't been touched by a tech since I got it, not even a truss adjustment, fret ends, nothing, and I live in an extremely dry climate.
Sold my Dave Navarro PRS for a mex strat pre-covid which was more ‘worship friendly’ but this looks like a great middle ground with the options between pickups and versatility of tone. PRS quality coming out with the goods once again. Thanks guys great insight as always
At one point, you guys asked about any upgrades worth doing on the SE Custom 24's. PRS now has cost-effective locking tuners for these. 18:1 ratio and are a drop-in upgrade that gives you the same functionality (and similar appearance) as the core second-gen/third-gen locking tuners. I have them on both of my SE 24's, and the upgrade was well worth it!
I was wavering between those and Kluson Revolution. I had an actual Graph Tech nut installed on mine, but I think the strings haven't settled in yet, because I'm still having some tuning issues. Or, it could be from me resting my hand on the bridge when I play.

Thanks for posting this vid. I needed to see this presentation, very timely the way it came onto my YT homepage list. Had the best mage of an electric guitar came to mind and it looked just like this one.
So helpful thanks! As a lefty I’ve been shopping around for ages for versatile guitar which will Allow me to genuinely find tones from grunge to metal and back to blues. I’ve been seeking Jaguars Mustangs even the Jack-Stang but today I found a secondhand, left-handed version of this guitar and after watching this video I’m heading down to the seller to trial it tomorrow! Much lov and subscribed !
As a lefty myself, I feel ya. You might want to give the Gretsch Double Jet a try. I love the tones I get out of it. The only thing I have yet to come to grips with is the lack of fret markings on the board itself. The markings are on top of the fretboard and I haven't gotten used to that yet.
I have a SE Standard 24. I've been a fan of PRS since about 2009. I just LOVE everything about them. I want to have so many of them (SE, S2, and Core) cause it really fits me so well and i want to just be myself at all time so PRS is the only brand that speaks to me the most. I shred on this thing, i would play lead lines on it, i would play some rock chords with it, maybe jazz lines through it, and ,of Course, be on a church stage with it as well. I would just honestly have tears of joy that those guitars really is for me honestly. Getting another one as my main one needs a buddy.
I have a PRS SE Custom 24 in a Tobacco Burst which was made in Korea which I bought new and totally Love it!! The only mod I did was I installed some PRS style locking tuners which I purchased from John Mann’s Guitar Vault USA. Awesome video, one of the best one’s I’ve seen in a long while!!!!
I was immensely impressed when I played one last year. The fit, finish, playability, sustain, and sound were all outstanding. PRSs often have a bell-like quality to their sound, and this one was no exception. But I'm a snob so I got the S2 Custom 24 instead...
@@super90girl47 Thanks! I sold the S2 after getting a CE 24, but all in all it was an amazing instrument. You cannot go wrong with PRS on any level. They just make wonderful guitars. Enjoy in good health, and may God bless you with peace, happiness, and long life!
You guys should check out their SE 245. I bought one after trying out both that and the 24, and I loved the sound of the 245 a lot more. It's shaped more like a single cut LP and is beautiful.
My 2016 Zach Myers SE super mod project (with Cremas) was actually inspired by you guys (circa Epi Goldtop). It's amazing to see that the PRS sound in 2021 is pretty much all we need starting out. I'll plug a SE to anyone these days.
I'm totally sold on such a beautiful guitar. Been playing for 40 years and never owned a PRS but it's a guitar I've always wanted. The sound and versatility of this guitar really rocks. I'm the music leader in my church and own a Maton (Yes aussie) acoustic and gopherwood acoustic. So would really love to add this to me collection. Please.
After the comparison, I preferred the SE and thought it sounded brighter, especially on the clean ambient sound. They were almost indistinguishable when playing the saturated sounds. The core sounded more polished, and less noisy overall. I was saving to buy a Chapman ML3 Pro Traditional next year but now I will have to take a second look at these PRS SE models from Indonesia.
I was literally just watching your previous PRS videos, wondering if you were going to try out a SE Custom 24. I recently purchased one and was considering doing some modifications (neck pickup sounds a bit dark). This is awesome. Thank you so much for your videos.
Up till now I was shopping for the SE Custom Fadded Blue but.... I saw this "sunburst". It is The PRS look and it is gorgeous, it is almost like dark caramel with the glossy body. Anyways...now I'm putting my Strat out for sale to get this PRS SE Custom in this beautifull Black Gold finish. Man, since i first saw Santana in the '90s, Tremonti and Opeth at the later days I wanted to be a proud owner of A PRS. Great guitar! Thanks for the honest review guys.
Love my PRS SE Custom 24! I would love to know what settings you guys would tweak on your AC30 or Matchless patches to help EQ the tone for this specific guitar.
I have an Elite Strat and a Player and a Squire Classic Vibe and a early 00’s Squire Std and I used to have a 96’ Fender Std. They are all pretty close tbh. You notice a difference but it’s not huge. The biggest differences are the saddles and the electronics.
You are exactly right on the 85/15s pickups. I have an S2 Custom 24 and they're a lot smoother than a PAF style humbucker. One thing I hate about a Les Paul sound is the humbucker bark...it's very midrangey without the clarity. I have a Carvin CT624 and it feels very similar to the S2 but I put high end Dimarzios in it and I prefer the 85/15s pickups.
Gibson makes several pickups, the 490/498 are mid-rangey but the burstbucker range are a lot clearer and brighter. Classic 57’s also sound nice, somewhere in between the 498/burstbucker pro’s. They also make the dirty fingers pickups which Metallica used to help get that master of puppets tone (Tony Iommie of Black Sabbath also uses them I think). I picked up one of these custom 24 earlier this year with the 85/81 and am happy enough that I don’t feel the need to change them. Very nice guitar for the money.
Good to hear the love for the 85/15s I've got a 2022 S2 Custom 24 while it's made in USA the pickups are 85/15s and I've come to absolutely love the Tone they give. The guitar itself is absolutely stunning and plays, feels incredible too. I also have a 2021 Gibson Les Paul standard 60s in Bourbon burst which has Burstbuckers. Yes it has more punch weighs 9.5lbs so it's got great sustain and killer tone for sure. But since getting the PRS S2 Custom 24 for Christmas last year I've not played the Gibson barely or my US Strats. My main gigging amp is a 1973 Fender Bassman Ten Silverface housed in a custom 1x12 enclosure with a Eminence Swamp Thang speaker. Best Tone ever 🔥 Pedalboard Jrocket Boing - Boss DD500 Delay - Fulltone custom shop Deja vibe - Fender Pinwheel - Boss Dimension C Waza - King of Tone - Nobels ODR1 - Boss Tu3 So next I want a Core PRS Custom 24 🤤
Agree with ALL points! The SE line is a hot commodity. Im definitely goin Core next time round. Im gettin old and picky. The S2 series is another Steal. Great playing guys!
the SEs are killer. picked up a used 22 for $300 which was near mint. i did change the pickups to low output covered tyler pickups because i like very low output pickups in anything gibson-esque but the stock pickups were just fine.
Yall are so crazy 😂😂 I've been a subscriber for a long while, did NOT realize you made this video. I'm trying to decide between the Goldtop DGT SE or the Custom 24 SE. Man, I think the DGT SE sou is a little better, and, it has independent tone pots for each humbucker, and the coil tap. Thanks for the video guys!
I have a 2020 SE Mark Holcomb signature and that guitar is absolutely phenomenal. I sold a Goldtop Gibson Les Paul Traditional to get the PRS and I haven’t looked back. I did need to change the nut as it was terrible out of the box, but apart from that it’s perfect.
I am blown away how similar these pickups sound. I mean, dont get me wrong, I have a set of Crema's that would immediately get installed, but the pickups sound very close to one another.
The Squad: Why do these entry level PRS guitars feel so good? Because whatever you say about PRS, the one thing that is known for certain is that their quality control at all levels is absolutely impeccable. I am sure there is someone somewhere who can say otherwise but I genuinely don’t know a single person who has bought a new PRS who has had issues with QC
I have 3 (2 SE and 1 S2) and they are were all great before I even set them up. I have a 35th anniversary SE24 and it is fantastic. The 2 toggle switches to split each pickups is really smart.
I got this guitar after watching this video. Good guitar but I did end up putting in some Lambertone Cremas. The only flaw I find with it is the nut. Even after lubrication it keeps binding. Going to get that sorted next.
As myself being a owner of a custom 24 SE, yes they are great and very versatile. But my only problem with them is the pickups, I feel like they are too muddy and dark, so that is why i will being switching them out but otherwise they are great
Do you have a newer one with the 85/15s pickups? I used to feel that way about the SE pickups, but these new updated ones are really good. Tons of great after market options though.
i have compared my pickups, to a CE model, with the same effects exactly. And there is a slight difference in tone, with the CE being more bright to me
Funny. I am a huge guitar fan and just found out about your channel. Great. :-) This PRS might be something for me. Somehow quite many people dont like PRS...dont know why. I play since 35 years and own quite a few guitars already. :-)
I’d like to see yall do a video on Yamaha Revstar guitars. They have their mid range standard models for the same price that i hear so many great things about.
Do you guys think the PRS SE 245 (vintage, not standard) is as good as the SE custom 24? Curious about your thoughts. Thanks for the detailed overview of the custom 24!
I keep gravitating towards Fender and Gibson because all my heroes played them. But man, I don’t think I’ve come across better quality than Paul Reed Smith. I currently have an SE Zach Myers and it plays better than the Gibson Studio I have. I sold a PRS S2 Standard 24 to get the Gibson. And I have to admit the PRS played and stayed in tune better. I have been a Les Paul guy all my guitar playing life because Slash, Jimmy Page, Peter Frampton and Ace Frehley play them. That’s the only reason.
I played one at a Guitar Center, and OH MY GOSH, I fell IN LOVE not just with the looks, but also with how smoothly they designed it to where you can go up and down the fretboard!😍🙌
When doing the Demo of the humbucker and coil, around the 24 min mark, I heard a fairly distinct VOL change, being a lower volume on the coil settings. THAT is also prominent in my GTR, for which I have the Burled Ash model, and to me, I find that a bit annoying. Also my only negative point with this Gtr. A "long time ago", I bought one of the original PRS Gtrs, when they had the patented "fast string change" lever on the tuning heads, to me the earlier version of a locked tuner. It was the same blue/black front as was on one of PRS' original brochures, when they printed those back then! TOO Bad I still dont have it. Sold it when I moved in 1999.
I really want the Trampas Green lefty version of this. The only ones I can find are black gold or blue burst so I'll probably end up settling for one of the two. But either way I'm 99 percent sure I have found the right first guitar for me.
Thanks! I just bought this guitar used at Guitar Center, waiting forp delivery. Just one question. It's 2 years old. Do I need worry that anything has changed in that time?
Great review.... i got one myself today and its a fantastic guitar. But PLEASE, tell me, how do you get that ambient Delay/Reverb sound at around 28:07...just adding lots of reverb and delay doesnt even sound close to what i hear there... best regards. ;-)
Hello. Thanks a lot for this helpful for this helpful video. Seems like the perfect guitar for me. Somebody in my area is selling one for a very good price. But it's the older modell made in Korea, not Indonesia. Are there any differences?

I have a 2018 SE, and the characteristic that keeps popping up to me, is “home.” It just feels so natural and effortless to play.
I was sold at your opener. Those pickups sound great!
Mission accomplished 😎
I was immensely impressed when I played one last year. The fit, finish, playability, sustain, and sound were all outstanding. PRSs often have a bell-like quality to their sound, and this one was no exception.
But I'm a snob so I got the S2 Custom 24 instead...
Good for you, this video is for the people that can't afford an S2. Enjoy yourself, snob.
I have a SE 245, and just love it. It's an excellent worship guitar. I also have a SE 24 standard and love it.
I’ve found prs se models to be pretty exceptional especially in their price range
Please.
Playing at the beginning was beautiful.
Great demo! Thank you both!! I’d love to have one of those guitars. One day I’ll get one.
I have the same, except mine is a few years older, but specs are the same. Absolutely love it! It’s quite fantastic!
Love my PRS SE Custom 24! I would love to know what settings you guys would tweak on your AC30 or Matchless patches to help EQ the tone for this specific guitar.
We use the HB settings!
I've owned 2 PRS SE guitars (currently own a se customer 24) they are amazing guitars, with great feel and playability.
Good to hear the love for the 85/15s
I've got a 2022 S2 Custom 24 while it's made in USA the pickups are 85/15s and I've come to absolutely love the Tone they give.
Best Tone ever 🔥
Pedalboard
Jrocket Boing - Boss DD500 Delay - Fulltone custom shop Deja vibe - Fender Pinwheel - Boss Dimension C Waza - King of Tone - Nobels ODR1 - Boss Tu3
So next I want a Core PRS Custom 24 🤤
Wow, I'm definitely looking to add one of these to my Christmas list!
The SE's are great, even better with some Lambertones! From experience, I love the Grinder bridge/Crema neck combo.
Can you please review the PRS 277? great content!
Just got mine SE 24-08, it sound fantastic especially the sweet top end..
Such a nice review. Thanks guys. You literally convinced me to get one as soon as possible haha
OMG. I love you guys, I love your channel and I cannot wait for this giveaway, as PRS is my dream for at least 15 years!
I love PRS guitars. I currently own a PRS SE Paul's Guitar which is beautifully built.
I am blown away how similar these pickups sound. I mean, dont get me wrong, I have a set of Crema's that would immediately get installed, but the pickups sound very close to one another.
Hello, could you be more specific about this model? I have the same guitar and will have a look at those HH. Thanks
Then explain why mine (brand new) came with the neck pickup installed upside down? Now you know a single person.
I got this guitar after watching this video. Good guitar but I did end up putting in some Lambertone Cremas.
The only flaw I find with it is the nut. Even after lubrication it keeps binding. Going to get that sorted next.
Thanks for your video. Helped me be confident in purchasing one! Blessings!
@@worshiptutorials Where would i check the pickup number out? I have a 2019 model so i suppose that they are the newer 85/15's
i have compared my pickups, to a CE model, with the same effects exactly. And there is a slight difference in tone, with the CE being more bright to me
Interesting, on my SE Custom 24, my first impression was that they were insanity BRIGHT. I had to roll back the tone on my amp
@@David_Perez06 I think you need check your amp settings bud. I have 2019 SE Custom 22 and I love the pickups I have in mine
Really nice colours and sounds
Funny. I am a huge guitar fan and just found out about your channel. Great. :-) This PRS might be something for me. Somehow quite many people dont like PRS...dont know why. I play since 35 years and own quite a few guitars already. :-)
Hi what are you playing through through sample 1? Sounds absolutely stellar
I am getting ready to buy the se custom 24 thank you for the great review,,
I’d like to see yall do a video on Yamaha Revstar guitars. They have their mid range standard models for the same price that i hear so many great things about.
Oh hey Bradford didn’t expect to see you here lol. Long time since Campus East. Love my SE Custom 24, great review
Who is this?? Your handle doesn’t help me. Sorry 😂
Been playing a fender strat for 10 years now and wanted a prs so I picked this one up today and it’s freakin awesome
Man I wish the SE came in that fire red color like the CORE
Can confirm! My SE Custom 24 in Trans Blue came in a couple months ago and I just cant put it down!
Loved the demo, I have 2 se models a tremonti and a semi hollowbody both beautiful guitars, both bought used both sound awesome
I have that exact same guitar. I love it so much. It’s getting a new nut in the next week or so. Also gonna throw in some pickups soon!
I love the 35th anniversary s2 for the independent coil split toggles. Such a great guitar
Great vidoe. What pedal did you use? TIA
Please tell me what I have to do to get my hands on that guitar
The prs ce demo please
what chords were those? that sweet gentle reverb and delay clean sound.
Please tell me there’s a semi-hollow version of this !!! 😩😩😩
I’m gonna get the faded blue soon! Can’t wait! 🙌
🙌🏻 indeed
Those are lovely guitars! Looks great and plays great!
Thanks! I just bought this guitar used at Guitar Center, waiting forp delivery. Just one question. It's 2 years old. Do I need worry that anything has changed in that time?
What pickups are in the Real Deal ? Im going to upgrade as soon as my SE arrives 🤟
What's the name of that beautiful Reverb/Delay? Is it a pedal or post?
Great review.... i got one myself today and its a fantastic guitar. But PLEASE, tell me, how do you get that ambient Delay/Reverb sound at around 28:07...just adding lots of reverb and delay doesnt even sound close to what i hear there... best regards. ;-)
I have a custom 24 core model and its beautiful
Hello. Thanks a lot for this helpful for this helpful video. Seems like the perfect guitar for me. Somebody in my area is selling one for a very good price. But it's the older modell made in Korea, not Indonesia. Are there any differences?
They sound great i would love to have one and that pedal effect as well
I just bought one of these with Fishman pick ups installed, I kind of want to try the stock ones in it after watching this? Would it be worth it? I'm not a guitar tinkerer so should I try them out or keep the fishmans in?
