I served in the Marines back in 1979 to 1983. I worked in the defense industry my entire career and help to develop some of the radar surveillance systems they are using today. I was RADAR tech and still work in that specialty area today as a manufacturing engineer and manager. It sure makes me proud to see what these young Marines are doing. They conduct themselves with such honor and pride. Its true when they say once a Marine, always a Marine. I still feel a connection to these guys. The Marine Corps still lives in my heart and soul.

We have the smartest, most tactical, ruthless, and mentally tough war fighters in the world. So proud to have served but even more proud of these types of warfighters. I was in logistics so a lot of their supplies came from units like us. So proud to have been surrounded by these types of guys.

@@ronpelton2590 yes it can if it hits you but it is far more likely gonna be used to keep the enemy pinned in one position so that other groups of taliban in this case can manouver and try to encircle you or get you to move to some lace where they have planted IEDs (the Taliban are mostly experienced fighters,they know basic strategy and are smart and adaptable to any terrain in Afghanistan and they also know small unit tactics pretty well) so a PKM or any other MMG if used properly can fuck you up worse than you think

Intentional, the sound / echo prevents the target from ascertaining the location of the other Marine laying down suppressing fire & pinpointing his location.
This is the most dangerous task. I encomend the soldier for that! You got to have courage and determination to do what they do. My prayer are with them.

One thing always comes to my mind when watching these combat footage from Afghanistan or Iraq.. The temperature is around 100 degrees and these guys have tons of clothes and gear on them. Now imagine fighting in that condition? I red somewhere that guys tend to loose up to 10 pounds on a longer mission. Brutal..

@@February_ in order to lay cover you have to have sumn yo fire at...so when I said prolly shooting at guys that were shooting at them and you said layin cover fire...we pretty much said the same thing ring...ok I understand we have a gun that holds more of the same bullets so sure fire that cause its going to take you longer then me dropping a mag and slappin in another and slapping my bolt release vs you pulling this back takin this big ass box off grabbing a belt of rounds loading one single one in the chamber pull this back down pull this back chamber a round yea I understand how battle works bruh
