Hope it works well for you. I was pleased with the results but as with all things Astro there’s always more than one way to get the job done. Clear skies!
Thanks Aaron!! Great video The light pollution removal tip was great, I've been using avg blur subtraction (think from your recommendation previously)... targeting the specific color is much better. I use screen blending mode for bringing the stars back in, instead of your masking method It's always interesting to me how many ways there are to get things done Great image!
Very interesting video Aaron, but a few questions. If you do the comet stacking in DSS than shouldn't you mark where the comet is on all your light frames ? Another question, you did comet only stacking, so how come there are no star streaks visual in the stacked image ?
Hi Seigfried, with this method since your masking two copies together it’s really not necessary. I did both ways off camera and the comet looked the same. Comet mode ignores the stars and star mode ignores the comet. Clear skies!
Just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. They have helped me a lot and I hope you will continue making more in the future.
You’re welcome. Glad you find them helpful. Hoping to put out a new video in the near future.
Nicely done Aaron. Really enjoy your videos and they have helped me out a lot. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Vince!
really happy you posted this. I tried this processing in APP but it left the star trails. I will try this masking method you've shared.

Perfect! Worked well for me. Thanks Aaron!
