    Christmas in your homeschool (morning basket, books you read, etc.), decorating, Christmas outings, Christmas food haul (like your Trader Joe's fall haul), winter clothing haul (kids too), maybe holiday outfits, if you do any kind of Advent activity, what you got your kids for Christmas. 🎄🎄🎄

    I would love to see videos on what you’re getting your kids for Christmas, how to stay on track with health during the holidays, and maybe a Christmas decor tour!

    We have "envelope" checking accounts. So we have a portion of my husband's paycheck that goes straight into the Christmas account every 2 weeks so after a full year we have all the money we need and we don't have to stress about it. I usually start shopping in October and done by Thanksgiving because I hate shopping when everyone else is lol

    Oh, and I wanted to add that I also don’t do “junky” stocking gifts just for the sake of filling the stocking. Honestly, stocking gifts can range from a couple dollars up to about $20. A good way to use up space is with a piece of clothing stuffed in the bottom (tshirt, fuzzy socks or slippers, etc).

    I love the 4 present plan, but struggle with budget friendly ideas for those teen years. My 14 year old son and 12 year old daughter are tough this year.Yes, we love to travel with the kids. It's sort of the gift that keeps on giving. And doesn't clutter. :-)

  • @bridgetbetler5356
    @bridgetbetler5356 5 лет назад

    We do the 4 gifts as well: something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read. My kids know that the “something to wear” is always Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve. I collect books throughout the year for the “read” category. Also a part of this category could be a leap pad, leap pad cartridge, kindle, boogie board, writing pad, etc. We also pick names and everyone secretly buys a gift for the person they chose. I also fund these gifts, however, my children are expected to help out daily and don’t receive an allowance unless it’s an extra/above and beyond chore they do (usually in the summer is when they have time for these extra chores).
    I would love to see a daily video as I watch while I exercise! However, please just do what brings you the most joy and peace!

  • @britnygoodwin9207

    Yes, please do vlogmas! 25 days would be nice but don't worry if weekdays only work. Whatever is better for your family.
    For Christmas we stick to a total of $1,000 for all gifts. Throughout the year we will buy gifts on sale or clearance and try to finish up with Black Friday sales. We started doing the same system as you do with gifts about two years ago now, best decision ever! We also only do white elephant gifts for the adults on both sides of the family, saves a ton of money. My children save and buy gifts for siblings, $5 limit and they usually go to a store called Five Below. They love doing that! As a family we pick out two items to donate at our church for their toy drive. It's up to my oldest two to find the best deal on the items during the Black Friday sales.

    We divide the amount we want for Christmas by 11 months and put some away each month starting in January. It allows me to start shopping in August and avoid shopping in December because we have crazy shops and even crazier weather then. I don't watch the vlogmas videos just because of time but its always fun for record-keeping for yourself!

      The Amazing Slim Down Excellent ideas! I think I want to take December off and do unit studies. We use TGATB for pre K / K currently. Two years ago, we asked our kids a similar question- if you had a choice, would you choose to rescue a greyhound and receive no gifts, or receive gifts? They both without question wanted the dog, so we adopted a dog! Of course they got a few little things, but definitely less than usual. Neither have regretted it, and always ask if we can do the same thing again. 😂
    I would love vlogmas, and have no idea about the weekends. That's a lot of work, so I'd say if you do it, do what you can handle without stressing! You want to be able to enjoy the holiday season. 😃

    We set aside a small amount all year and put it into our Christmas "bucket" ( we use YNAB for budgeting so we just assign a line for christmas and a dollar goal for the year). I tend to do three gifts each plus a shared gift and stockings. I have 2 boys so the shared gift is the easiest one usually. We also try to do a family getaway in the winter.

    I do an envelope for holiday shopping. I start in January, so by August the funds are there. I like to get done by October 1st. This year each kiddo gets 4 gifts (2 from Santa, 2 from mom and dad). And we don't buy gifts for outside of the household (if that makes sense). We do crafts and baking as gifts, those are great. Oh, and gifts for the pets of course. This year they are getting new beds and harnesses. Do you do baking for Christmas? A video on that would be awesome, love seeing how and what others bake.

    Vlogmas is fun to watch. I don't care if you do it on the weekends or every day. Be present with your family first. We do the same thing for giving our kids gifts. Sometimes, like this year, when we are tight on money, we give a board game or flavored cocoas and thrift store mugs to friends/family for gifts. It's actually a favorite gift too!

      @@GraceandGrit I was just about to ask this too! My kids are 2 and a newborn and I have been trying to decide how to do Christmas gifts. My husband and I like the 4 or 5 rule on gifts. But he doesn't want to do Santa gifts at all, but growing up I loved Santa gifts even after I was too old I thought they were fun. I like the idea of doing one gift from Santa, I also have a friend and they do Santa takes care of the stockings at their house. Just trying to figure it out. I think gifts are fun but I definitely want to keep the "stuff" and the spending to a minimum and really make Christmas about Christ and not the gifts. Thanks for sharing!
