Purandaradasa keerhanai in Abohi the start by Sri. K k resembled absolutely the voice of Dr. MBK. The Tamil of Sri.K K and that of their daughter are normal and that of sister Binny is really enjoyable.. These apart the programme is a great treat and useful for Karnatic music learners.Being a follower of Karnatic music I totally enjoy these episodes.

Dear Sir, Ma'm, Solla vaarthaiyae illai...Evvari Podha in Abhogi and Valaji was just mesmerising. I always believed that learning as many varnams would create a very strong foundation in understanding a ragam for a musician. You have taken it to the next level by using multiple ragams in the same varnam thereby creating a new way of learning music. Young, budding musicians watching your video are the luckiest in the world, I guess. Please continue this service to music. Kudos from Australia!

Aabhogi cannot be spoken about in twenty minutes.....you both could do thesis on aabhogi....konchamaa eduthu paadi kaatina aabhogi is outstanding..aththanai ramyamaana raagam......aabhogi maathri raagam we have to speak for days and months to cover it..but nice that both of you fathomed the ocean called abhogi in short span of time..brilliant

Once again.. loved this session too. I really got excited to hear the composition that was in my mind, Mayooram Vishwanatha Shastri's 'Mataa Sadaa Avtumam'. Personally it is one of my favorites in the raga Abhogi because it is rich in swarakshara prayogas..❤️. The grahabheda pair Abhogi-Valachi is also worth exploring. I remember hearing Balamurali guruji's dual raga-Ragam Thanam Pallavi in Abhogi-Valachi.. what a treat!!😍😍. Eagerly waiting for more on this Raga Vidya series. Lots of love and prayers chechi and cheattan. 🥰🙏

Your range of knowledge about krithis, about the relationship between ragas, about the histories of both ragas and compositions, and above all, about the genius and creative output of Balamuralikrishna make of these videos a precious archive of musical knowledge and performance.
The constant appearances of your students as performers is a reassuring reminder of your work as teachers and torchbearers of a glorious tradition of music.
I would only make the suggestion that you also make some helpful remarks about the nature of the notes/swaras of the ragas you discuss: it would have been helpful here, for instance, to know how the Abogi Ri differs from the Ri of its 'parent' raga. Closer to the Ra than the proper Ri? Please also comment on the nature of the gamaka prayogas of specific notes in specific ragas. I know this will make for much longer episodes, but why not?
I must also thank you for closely tracking the career of the ragas you take up for examination in the Indian film industry. The Hindustani-Carnatic interplay is also greatly appreciated: please make sure you do more of this--it would have been wonderful if you had done it for Abogi here, for example.
I ask for all this because it is not a lot of people that have both the knowledge and the singing skills, and if they had this winning combination, they may not have the goodwill or the opportunities to share that both of you have in such obvious abundance.

@@BINNIKRISHNAKUMAR I forgot another point: your discussions make CM truly South Indian. All the various compositions you discuss or sing or allude to are from all over S India.
I only wish you would also make it possible for someone from Karnataka, for instance, to be able to follow what you say. Technical details could be given in multiple languages, or at least also in English--which you often do anyway, almost instinctively. Please do all this a bit more systematically and consciously.
It would be wonderful also if you could talk about the Telugu/Kerala/Tamil/Karnataka styles of singing Carnatic Music. You are both conversant with all these traditions (not sure about the Karnataka part, but surely you have studied this tradition carefully?), so you are best placed to do this. I can't tell you how deeply I appreciate your work.

Thanks a lot to both of you...for bringing out the various nuances of the bright, symmetric Raga "Abhogi". It is delightful to learn from this episode a striking feature of this raga Abhogi , its transition from Dhaivata to Sadja and vice-versa. The Nishada is completely avoided and the glide is carefully executed, lest any other allied raga like Sriranjani could creep in. Both of you have a clear diction and articulation in the delivery of your voices. In this connection, i wish to add a lovely old classic tamil song sung by the veteran M. Balamuralikrishna, along with P Suseela, “Thanga radham vandadhu” from “Kalai Kovil” in this raga. With Veena maestro Chittibabu’s electrifying playing, and Viswanathan-Ramamurthy’s ingenious composing, this song is cherished even today. Look forward to learning a lot in this journey😊
