I have been going back and forth with SOFI and Ally Bank for my online bank. Decided today to go with Ally Bank. Guess where I am old, I feel more comfortable going with Ally whose be in business long time. Just feel more comfortable with them.
I went with Ally about 12 years ago after 5th 3rd drove me crazy. At the time they offered 2% on savings vs 0.00000003% at 53rd. Everything was smooth, seamless, better, and they never tried, hell they CAN'T, try to herd you into a side office to have a professional suit-wearer figuratively bash you over the head with a forty and take your wallet and phone. In the electronic age brick and mortars serve no good purpose.
Andy, I’ve been looking at switching from SoFi because SoFi doesn’t allow accounts titled in the name of a revocable living trust (RLT). Ally says they do. I guess I’ll find out when I sign up. Since, as I understand it, more and more people are starting to use RLTs as one of their estate management tools, I’m surprised at the number of online banks that don’t support this. Any thoughts on this point?
Ally has the most features by far. Marcus wins on APY, but is VERY feature light. Citi is nice mixture of both and has a couple of decent card choices. If you are JUST using it for HYSA, then Marcus does win... but just barely. Unless you have massive amounts of money in the account, the difference of 0.05% APY between these won't be noticeable.
I only wish Ally allowed credit card applications vs hoping an invite would be sent. Though thankful they don’t need 5 business days for cashing checks.
Well, I'm not trying to convince you to give them a try. I'm just sharing their features and my own experience so far (which has been very positive). But I will say that most banks when they get big enough, have that. Chase for example has 4.5K complaints with BBB, which makes Ally's 500ish seem small. Chase has their share of class actions. Sofi, another bank I am a fan of, has 1700 complaints. It's tough to find a bank that has been around for a little while without any.
You can also use Zelle. I use it to transfer money between my Ally account and my local brick and mortar bank. Money is transferred within minutes with no fees and no wait. Both financial institutions have to be set up for Zelle for same day transfers though.
If you mean for depositing cash, then you'd need to do it elsewhere. Local credit union for example. Go in with cash, use it to get a cashiers check, then use the Ally app to deposit that check into your account. If you are asking if you can get a cashiers check from Ally, then yes, you just need to call them and they mail it to you.
No sorry. I thought they had said they were going to enable it since some Allpoint ATMs CAN support that AND they do list that under ATM features on some of the ATMs on their map. However, there is nothing official saying they will (yet). I removed it from the video since that's incorrect right now.
What the F happened? Ally bank no longer has a mobile app. It just told me to update to a newer version but there isn't one. Sh@t, now I have to use my PC to log into my account from now on? I spoke to a customer service agent who want even aware of this, as usual i was referred to a different department. Not even given a warning. I've had it with this stupid bank.
@@rjones7276 I just spoke to tech support. They admitted that the app only works with Android 10 or above. its doesnt work with earlier android. versions.

Both are great choices! Ally is my day-to-day bank of choice personally.
@@yourfinancefriend Besides Ally as your main banking, do you deal with SOFI for banking and investing?
@@johnhenderson7081 I use Sofi from time to time, but Ally is my daily driver. I like Sofi's investing product better than Ally's

Thanks for sharing! And I agree.
love the style without cap and glasses super cool brother !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello SoLM! Thanks for checking the channel out!
Ally invest and banking is awesome. Best customer service to date
I'm pretty happy with Ally banking for my day to day
Do you use Ally Bill Pay? It seems slower than other bank’s bill pay.
I haven't personally used it. I've actually never used a bill pay service/feature. Thanks for the feedback on Ally's.
Super well done and informative. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
the only downside with ally is slow transfers. i do like the savings accounts though
Thanks for the feedback

I am torn between Ally, Marcus, Cit Bank for a HYSA.

Consider My Banking Direct. They offer 5.55% interest.
Are the 10 withdrawals limited to the overall accounts or each bucket?
The overall account.
I only wish Ally allowed credit card applications vs hoping an invite would be sent. Though thankful they don’t need 5 business days for cashing checks.
You don’t need a credit card, just use your own money. Save the same amount you would like to see on your credit card, 💥you have a credit card.
@@annadavis6361 The protections aren't the same, especially fraud-wise. To each their own.
Yeah, I'm not 100% why they do it that way.
@@annadavis6361 what about building credit
Does Ally offer 2FA?
Absolutely!
How to withdraw let’s say if i need 15k cash to buy a car if there is no physical location?
All points atm are free withdrawals with ally
@@cronbtc5680but i assume you can’t take that much out from a atm correct?
I’m sure their customer service can point you in the right direction.
Can it be use internationally
Ally is US only unfortunately.
@@yourfinancefriend thank you so much for getting back to me
You could use an Ally debit card or credit card outside the USA, if that's what you mean.

How do I transfer money in and out of alley from one financial institution to another?
Simple ACH transfer. Just add your other accounts in Ally.
You can also use Zelle. I use it to transfer money between my Ally account and my local brick and mortar bank. Money is transferred within minutes with no fees and no wait. Both financial institutions have to be set up for Zelle for same day transfers though.
Really easy once accounts are securely linked.
How would one go about obtaining a cashiers check with Ally?
If you mean for depositing cash, then you'd need to do it elsewhere. Local credit union for example. Go in with cash, use it to get a cashiers check, then use the Ally app to deposit that check into your account.
If you are asking if you can get a cashiers check from Ally, then yes, you just need to call them and they mail it to you.
Can you actually make cash deposits? I have an Ally account but always thought no cash deposits can be done. Even says it in their website

“Ally offers FDIC insurance….”
Considering FDIC insurance is required by federal law in the US, I’d be REALLY surprised if they didn’t.
People will ask about it if I don't mention... so I keep mentioning it :)

Have the app on my android phone right now. It works fine. Always has.

Probably a Wells Fargo executive trying to run a psy ops here.
@@yourfinancefriend Tech support confirmed to me that the app upgrade only works on Android 10 or later, so your wrong.
