We don't believe in bothering people we don't know if we don't need to, we don't believe in offering unsolicited advice or help that isn't asked for, and we don't believe that force-feeding guests beyond their appetites is the measure of a host's hospitality. That might make us come across as cold to you but that's just our way of doing things. I used to find Chinese people to be a bit pushy when I first went to China, because people I barely know were always giving me advice about drinking too much cold water, not wearing thick enough clothes, not getting enough sleep, and other aspects of my life as if I don't know how to take care of myself, but I quickly learned that it's just a different culture and a different way of showing respect.
@@hexkobold9814 Correct, actually, west people would like keep a certain distance from others. I don't think it's cultural difference. because human beings are social animals, they all want to be recognized and cared by others. Distance should be one big problem. west people are human being too.

Americans value "service with a smile" (which my Chinese dictionary app translates as 微笑服务) in which people in the service industry are encouraged to smile and engage in casual small talk with customers. Some cultures find that fake and weird. When Wal-Mart first opened in Germany, cashiers were taught to interact with customers the American way and German male customers interpreted the behaviour of the female cashiers as flirtatious. Sometimes I see this style of service in American-style fast food restaurants in China but usually servers and retail workers and flight attendants there are just devoid of emotion.
Another thing is that Americans love saying "thank you" almost habitually, even in cases Chinese people might find tedious such as to the bus driver when exiting a bus or to the cashier handing you your change after a transaction is completed. It's a small thing but I find it warm and conforting and miss it when I travel.
One thing I admire about Chinese culture from what I've observed during travel is the ease with which Chinese backpackers will connect to other Chinese backpackers they run into along the road. There's this sense of community that doesn't exist to as great a degree in Western cultures, which tend to ignore other travelers unless you're thrust into a situation in which *not* interacting would be awkward.
中美人民很多都生活在幻想中，中国人幻想着美国是天堂，美国人幻想着中国是地狱，哈哈。但是基本道理是一样的，天下的乌鸦是一般黑，各有各的好，如果你很有钱，美国也许是更自由，资本主义，只要有足够的钱你可以做任何事，任何，这在中国是不可想象的。如果你一无所长只有一副好身板，美国也许也是更好的选择，毕竟中国人有天然优势，吃苦耐劳肯干，也是可以有机会赚一笔回去 养老的。中产就算了，旅个游看看就行了，美国对中国的优势，除了地广人稀空气好，现在也就只剩下1：6.5这点事了 。
美國人多數人寧願堅持本性也不想賺錢 讓我有點意外。

Many ways, they are so insular that anything OUTSIDE of that 'town' is considered to be way too foreign for them. Not many would be able to even assimilate properly or even want to. The Chinese speaking guy reaction was the most interesting. it was like he didn’t understand what you were doing, even in Chinese. Gave me the vibe he thought something was something wrong with you. A bit passive aggressive. I don’t think this reaction would be uncommon when one discusses politics with people from Mainland, especially when trying to use humour and satire. Yet in the west it’s perfectly acceptable.
One of the first things communism tries to kill in a country is satire. Doesn't surprise me that after 3 generations or so, it's hard for mainlanders to understand the concept let alone know how to handle it when they don't agree.

台湾人也会么 。反正刚接触外网的时候 我觉得轻微有些不适 ，不适原因是因为有些评价太过极端 ，有失偏颇。但现在无所谓了， 一个政府不能只接受赞美的声音 ，就应该 同时接受批评 ，哪怕是诋毁 。都是应该的 。如果这都承受不了 要变本加厉的控制人的思想。证明这政府不堪一击 ，还不如迟早倒闭算了 。别整天喊着什么自信了。
