i love these big old classic radios you have the skill and expertise to make it new again now that im older i dont think id have the paitence to work on them just like the song your hearts a stereo ur hi fi fix it master !
I had this Boombox back in the early 1980s and after a hard breakup, I went home and turned it on and was, even more, saddened because it was tuned to 106.7 love song station and all the songs was about breakups which made me go into a wailing mode!!! LOL!!! Fond Memories!!
Awesome job done on this respectful piece. always loved how tape players units were competing in inventions. just for an auto-stop mechanism I've seen many great ideas and many dumb ones too :D . the smartest were simple , defeat time and friction. besides I'm a big fan of yellow/orange LEDs instead of the blue one, but that's only me (nostalgia) :) keep it up mate! your channel is awesome.👍
I wish I could buy that stereo. You have love these kind of stereo systems Sanyo and Fisher and Sony and Panasonic and etc. if you know what I mean I have a classic Sony boombox Sony boombox I have to figure out the exact model number, but it has a CD drawer boom box. But the CD 💿 Len’s needs to be replaced but other than that it’s the very very first one I believe that had mega bass and I opened it up. It has huge magnets on the woofers and that’s quality just like your stereo you have in this video absolutely beautiful Stereo vintage stereos like yours and mine. It’s worth keeping because it’s going to be worth lots of money because it’s vintage and people will buy it for real.
Hi Teddy, having viewed your re-refurbishment of the Sanyo M9994 I was impressed by this. I recently bought a Sanyo M9994LU which had some issues and I completed 85% of the work displayed in your video. (over 4 days) I have one issue if you could kindly help me with. I installed the LED lights and took the earth from the Radio PC board and the (positive) from a Blue wire plugged into the top of the main Green PC board located to the right of the radio board. This caused the tape to stop playing when I switched on the lights - I presume this was a result of the lights draining the feed from that source. I then took another live feed which seems to be fine but when I put the lights on - naturally the current from that feed drops considerably - however it doesn't seem to be effecting any functions . Could you please tell me from where you took the (live feed) to supply to the LEDs... I could not see this on your video and I have no wiring diagram for the unit... Many thanks... Alex
Actually, you shouldn't. The drivers used in these boomboxes had a very low impedance (around 3.2 Ohms), and they were rather stout. A new woofer of the same size would be much deeper than the original, and they would hit the circuit board.
Hi Teddy, good job on your restoration work. I have had a lot of fun with your work. Can you tell me what paint you used for the speaker membrane, thank you, best wishes. greetings from Spain
Now that is a nice one Teddy! Just wondering if painting the speakers change the characteristics of the speakers because you adding some weight and tighten the fabric. Did you notice some sound quality differences?
Hi, thank you for the question. What I have been doing is not painting, but dyeing. The painting will reduce the quality of the sound source, but dyeing isn't.
this is really great stuff! How much would you charge to do this restoration on an old boombox? CLEANING, BELTS, BLUETOOTH, LEDS !!? I'm looking on Ebay trying to find a decent one in great shape first.
Thank you for your compliment on my work. I know the difference of the M9990 and M9990K. As you said that radio stations of the 9990 is 3, but 9990K is 5. And I checked inside of the amp board as well as tuner board. Both looks same but it seemed like for me that 9990K is much more sophisticated than 9990. Probably M9994 and M9994K difference could be same.

I have small one that are waiting for the restoration and listing on the online. But I do not have time to restore mine, I am working entire my time to restore my clients these days.
Az 5 voltos tápot az USB-s Bluetooth-hoz egy LM2596HVS DC-DC modullal oldottam meg. De ez se rossz megoldás hogy közvetlenül a hálózatról veszünk tápot a Bluetooth egységhez.
I had been selling boomboxes online, but these days I do not have time to list them. I have been working with many restoration work. Once I am settled, I will start listing mine online.
You can do it by yourself. All I do is remove all parts carefully, clean all contact of the pods and switches, and clean the cassette deck with new belts.
Can’t make up my mind what to love - your skills at rebuilding these wonderful boomboxes or the style/format of your vids! Well done either way!
Thank you for your compliment on my work!
I can watch these Boombox resto's ALL DAY!!!!! Great job Boombox whisperer!
Thank you Miguel for your compliment.
Hey teddy good to see your back. Awesome video and restoration love the way you painted the speakers. Great job

This was one of the highest quality boomboxes ever made. Came out in 78 or 79 I think. The feel of the controls is amazing.

What are you using for the speakers (the black paint) ? THX In Advance great video, I own one M9994K, and I am planning to restore it as well
I could never have one in my adolescence. I still dream of having one like this.

One word: perfection. And while you are at it though, you should change the speakers.
Thank you for the compliment. And thank you for the advice for replacing the speaker to the more good one.

hola TEDDY excelente tu trabajo felicitaciones , pero porque pintaste los speakers ? no pierde calidad de sonido ?
Hi, thank you for your compliment. The speaker color, it was not painting, it was dyeing. So there is no affection to the speaker sound.
