  • Join me as I show you how to make stud earrings, with or without a Cricut or other cutting machine. Stud earrings are so popular nowadays, and so easy to make! These DIY stud earrings are a great way to turn scraps of faux leather and genuine leather into stud earrings that are fun to wear, and easy to sell.
    I'll show you step by step three different ways to use your scrap materials to make stud earrings. If you do want to use a cutting machine, I have a free circle template SVG you can download from my blog to get started right away making your own stud earrings. Use a Cricut Maker, an Explore Air 2, or even the Cricut Joy. You can also use a Silhouette Cameo or any other cutting machine that uses SVG files or DXF files.
    If you want the circle template for this easy DIY stud earrings project, it's Design #170 in my Free Resource Library. Get the password here:

    This an amazing video. How would I go about sizing the circle for 15mm?

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  Год назад

      Thanks for your comment! When I'm sizing, I Google the mm conversion to inches. Just search "15mm to inches" and it will pop up. 15mm is .59 inches. Then I create a circle in Design Space that's .59 inches wide and make a test cut. I adjust the size a little as needed and keep test cutting on scraps before I start cutting a lot of circles in the new size. :) Let me know how that goes!

    Hi Amy, thanks for this tutorial! Super cute and fun! Question...how do you store your faux leather? I love your vinyl wall hanging organizer you made, but I have a ton of rolls of faux leather that don't stay on the roll once you start using them, and I have also ordered it by the sheet before, or larger roll, but there's no cardboard tube or anything so it wouldn't work to hang on the wall!! Thanks for any ideas you might have!! :)

      Hi, Karla! Thanks for your comment. I store my faux leather in an IKEA Alex wide drawer cabinet. I sort them by type (holidays, glitter, solids, etc). I then store scraps in an IKEA storage box. Nothing fancy!
      If you do want to roll your faux leather, have you tried using slap bracelets to keep them rolled tightly? I use them for my vinyl rolls and I love them.

    Do you put the little glass pieces on top of the faux? I have the studs like this, and tons of scrap pieces of faux but I can't get the glass pieces to stay. They will pop into the cabochon tray without anything in it but not with anything in it? What is the best way to do this?

    • @AmyRomeu

      Hi, Bridgit! I only put the glass cabochon on top of a paper circle with a printed design, not faux leather circles. For faux leather I just leave it uncovered for a natural look. For designs I cut from photo paper, I use yellow cap Gorilla glue to glue the glass cabochon on top.

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  2 года назад +1

      Hi, Jeanette! I am using a Cricut Maker. It's an electronic cutting machine that works with a computer, phone, or tablet. It works with a design software called Cricut Design Space. The Cricut works when the user uploads a cutting pattern called a SVG (scalable vector graphic) to Cricut Design Space and then sends the digital pattern to the Cricut cutting machine to cut out the pattern.

    Do you put the clear dome over the ones you did the faux leather on?

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  2 года назад +1

      Hi, Katie! No, I didn't. If the faux leather is pretty flush to the top of the stud setting, or I just want the texture and look of the faux leather to be the focus, I leave the faux leather uncovered. If there's a lot of room between the faux leather and where the top edge of the stud setting is, I'll pour resin in the setting to fill the gap. This works really well when using chunky glitter faux leather because it enhances the sparkle of the glitter.

      Hi, Julia! I've seen anywhere from $6 to $12 for 3 pair. Genuine leather ones can go for more. It depends on where you are selling and how you price your other items, too. If you're already selling earrings, you can offer a set of 3 as an add on bonus purchase for a lower price, let's say $6 for a set of 3 or $10 for 6 sets. They are a good way to bump up the total order price!
