Sir what I think both are different fields so we can't compare each other . One is production and other is design as I watch you now cnc programmer(metal cutting operation ) but in design you have to gain lot of knowledge as compare to cnc programmer . To become a designer you have to know material suitable for product mechanism which is required according to mechanics and materials you cal. Size and many other thing . So choose wisely cnc programmer is a process of production but designing is a much higher than this .
