It sucks that there are people out there who help themselves to others property. Unfortunately it is in campgrounds I guess, as well as stick & bricks neighborhoods. Sure do miss the "good ol' days" when we could trust our neighbors though. Safe travels and I sure hope things start turning around for y'all!
Tell me about it. I live in a nice neighborhood in a (comparatively) good city and at least twice a month a couple thieves can seen being on camera in the middle of the night checking door handles and the back of pickup trucks. I've also had a large job box stolen out of my truck that was locked and probably weighed 300 lbs. 5 am, 10 minutes and all on camera. Bold as heck. Cameras won't do it, lock it up. My dad told me years ago that locks only keep out the honest people and to do what you can, but expect theft at some point. It's a fact of life. Not worth letting it consume you basically, but don't make it easy either. Miss you dad. Thanks for all good the locks!
Thanks for that insight. I live in NYC and what I came to realize is that it’s not that people are thieves. But when they see something that’s easy to take there minds tell them, it’s easy let’s go for it. I just brought a class A and before going to sleep I make sure that my bay doors are locked and things that can move or walk away on it’s own I store under lock and key. I am glad that it wasn’t paranoia because I really felt that way. Thanks again and sorry for your loss.
@C. W. Sayre Yes, it's a crime but I think you're missing my point. Why make it easy or tempting, thus increasing the odds of someone that might not normally be a criminal as you put it, but it's just too easy so to speak. You don't think human psyche plays a role, risk vs reward and morality that some people think if due diligence wasn't taken to lock up or whatnot somehow they deserve it being stolen. That or 'someone else was gonna take it' mentality. Not everything in life is as simple as black and white. No lock is theft proof for someone determined enough, but locking things up greatly reduces the risk of it dissapering, why is that? 🤔
I was camping in near Rushford Minnesota and dropped my wallet in the park. I realized it after riding back to the camper, I rode back the same way but no luck. I immediately canceled all my cards. So I spent the next week looking for cheep or free things to do. I was dreading the hassle of getting a new driver's license, so I was dragging my feet on that one. After a few weeks I received a package in the mail with no name just a return address. When I opened the package I saw my wallet with the 150$ still in it they didn't even take money out for postage. Things like that renewed my faith in humanity. Unfortunately not everyone is like that. Sorry for the trouble. And sorry for the loss of your brother.
Exactly, excellent comment! I was thinking the same thing. God Bless and we must employ a better and much stricter government like in Dubai. Dubai has practically ZERO crime rate due to very strict rules. Also Singapore. We here in USA need total reform of crime laws and punishment.
Police doesn't look for recreational items, sorry. What needed to happen was a tracking device (it's tiny, within the bike and can't be removed after placed) would tell police exactly where they are, and the felons would go to prison.
@@tomd6588 Of course, the police we currently employ here in USA are lazy fat unhealthy morons who really don't care. They harass innocent people trying to keep healthy and support and protect the corrupted, evil government. They care only when it directly affects them though, as many people will only care about something when it effects their own.
I couldn't agree more! I bought brand new high end fold up Bicycles and I was going to mount them on the back of my Rv (locked up) and the owner of the store told me "you're asking for trouble! " He said don't attract thieves by ADVERTISING your high end gear. Cause they will definitely take your new bikes. I agree its not your fellow campers. Its a group working the area (and Ill bet they're friendly! )
One of the points of camping is to get out of the routine of city living and the shit you have to worry about. I totally get not locking up their bikes, they have nothing to be embarrassed about, I would have had the same thing happen if I was them. When you start worrying about locking things up all the time it sours the experience, they were not doing anything alot of would have done or not done. They are on top of things, just hope the feeling doesn't linger for long for them, love that they are looking at things on the bright side, something we could all learn from
Different times indeed. Everyone needs to know the highs and lows of this lifestyle, which mirrors life in general. Thanks for sharing! Next ebikes, place a hidden tracker like Apple air tags. That’s how I recovered my bike. Good luck and keep up the great content.
This has been going on for a long time people are only now becoming aware of it. I live in a blue collar area where there is quite a bit and growing amount of poverty and I’ve seen people getting ripped off for decades. Between the leniency of the courts and the huge drug problems we have in the country criminals are getting a slap on the wrist and go out and rip off more people.
@@larrybe2900 Liz’s bike doesn’t have a serial number. Luna’s a small boutique company. But I’m sure they have proof of purchase - not to mention adequate documentation with their many videos.
@@chrisgeezvlog7349 I think they had. At least her first Luna did. They mentioned in the theft video 1.0 last year that it had some identifying features and modifications they were able to provide.
If I had those bikes, they’d be in my camper or the truck bed. I don’t leave anything out of value. Every thing gets locked up. I don’t trust anyone at a campsite. Good luck find the culprits who stole your bikes.
Thank you for this great video, as well as all your others, from which I learn so much. I do have to say something after reading many of the comments here. My parents owned a trailer park (today would be called campground or RV park) in a resort area from 1960-1993. Things got stolen all the time. Clothes -- including mine -- were stolen from the laundry room; my dad's rifles were stolen from the pump house; peoples skis walked away. The difference was there was no internet and no text messaging, so only a couple people knew about each incident. Also, let's face it, there was less to steal. The "overnighters" were in 13 foot trailers and later, 24 foot Winnebagos. There were no TVs, or e-bikes, or expensive mountain bikes. There were no $300 EMSs hanging on the electrical posts or portable solar panels. People aren't worse now than before; we just hear about it -- and thieves make off with more valuable things, because we are fortunate to camp with nicer things.
Thanks for such a great comment. You make some great points about the Internet meaning more people hear about thefts than back then. For us, we've decided from now on, locked and covered! See you in our latest video right here: ruclips.net/video/iP5Xlb6awVo/видео.html
EXCELLENT AND FINALLY AN INTELLIGENT COMMENT. quick question to everyone saying “put air tags on the bikes” and maybe I'm confused as hell about how they work. If they are notifying people carrying them, what dang good are they?????? My mother borrowed a handbag of mine that had an air tag left in it. She called me about two hours later to ask me about some strange message she was getting on her phone. So basically it would have alerted the purse thief to toss the air tag!! What good would that do? Very unlikely that the item is located before the thief catches on?? Right??
My husband and I camped for as long as I can remember. We always said that it was so nice to go places and feel safe and secure (state campgrounds). It has been quiet a few years since we have camped now and you are right, it is not the same as it was in the 90's and 2000's. I am sorry this happened to you all.
One suggestion when putting your bikes on the back of your tow vehicle take the battery out seat off and take the pedals off and lock them up no battery no seat no pedals won't get stolen👍👍👍👍👍 also put a battery operated camera on the back of your RV aiming at your bikes
This has been a tough year for you. Paul, I'm sorry for the loss of your brother. I'm sorry about the bikes being stolen not once but twice and your accident(s). The good news is things can be replaced and both of you are healthy and unharmed. Sending love, light and prayers for your future adventures. May peace be with you now and always.
I live by the code that you must assume that today or tonight is when the thieves are coming. Just plan on it, like anticipating dinner guests. Locking doors and objects becomes an unconscious routine. Also observe your environment, keep your head on a swivel in sketchy areas. Pay attention to people who are paying attention to you.
Never feel stupid for trusting people. It’s unfortunate that their are scumbags out there that ruin it for so many. Thank you for putting this video out there. I’m not an RV guy…at all, but I’m enjoying your videos! Please don’t feel stupid because of some jerk/jerks that felt they had the right to steal your property. I don’t care if they were or weren’t locked!
We really appreciate you making this video as painful as it was to make it. We appreciate your humbleness and we all have had to learn some of the same life lessons more than once. Hopefully this will help some people learn before having to pay for their education.
Agree with filing a police report. Sorry for your loss and Ive lost coolers full of food before. I carry a carbon fiber bike with me but its locked all the time. I love to ride and do so 4 times a week. The last thing I want to replace is a 4000.00 bike. I wish you the best and hope you have no more bad luck.
Coolers- crazy!!! After my bike got stolen in April 2020, we learned that police are far too busy to be looking for stolen bicycles. They will make a report so we can file an insurance claim. We knew the bikes were long gone and also knew we weren't going to make a claim. See you in our bonus video tomorrow.
My sister in law locked her bike to a post, both quick release wheels/rims were stolen. My daughter in Hawaii locked her scooter to a sign post. Witness said she saw 4 men lifting it up and over the sign post. The witness didn't bother to call the police... Sad....
I would highly not pursue your bikes unless your life is worth less than material items. Those guys who are willing to steal has no limits at what they are willing to do. Are you willing to have a gun fight?
Cameras don’t discourage thieves. They give you a nice video of someone who can’t identify stealing your property and they lull you into a false sense of security
@@LizAmazing I get your point but cameras really aren’t the deterrent in bank robberies. Bank robbery is a SERIOUS federal crime against the entire financial system . To the point though, even in bank robberies all you get from cameras is a video of a masked (likely) disguised criminal after the robbery was committed. The FBI is not going to investigate a campsite theft nor will local law enforcement investigate with any fervor whatsoever ( as shown in your Utah bike theft) . Pretty much all you’ll get is access to their report. Criminals know this and just don’t care anymore. Best practice is prevention as best you can but even that is not 100%.
I'm sorry that happened to you. There are a lot of tweekers who stay in and around campgrounds these days and they have no morals or empathy for anyone else.
@@robm6155 I do not agree, I always camp at state parks and think that with all the people around they are safe. I still think that 99% of people are good. Maybe that % is to high but I would like to think its is that high.
Please call the police. These people will use them or sell them. The police could be on the lookout. They should not go scot free. Please please please call the police and make a report.

Many times I have been in secluded areas out in the "middle of nowhere" camping, even overnight backpacking, thinking were were all alone only to suddenly see or hearing other campers, hikers! Never anything malicious or scary has ever happened but just amazed as to where would I have to go to be alone!!!
I would say RV camp grounds are like boat marinas. There is always a thief among them. They don't purchase their equipment, they steal their equipment.
No Police report, no insurance claim, no lock, no motion sensor. Embarrassing or not why would you not follow a claim??? If nothing else to alert the police to thieves in the area. Did you look to find your bikes on Craigslist or FB market for the area that they were stolen in? I've actually retrieved stolen items that I found on Craigslist.
Yes. Please file a police report so that the authorities can be alerted to the theft and will then be more in tune with possible thieves in the area. It may help others who want their stolen things back
Great video to remind us all. My wife and I got into tent camping a few years ago and just this recently bought our first camper. Just a little one but we are super excited to get out all summer even plan to camp during the work week. Spreading knowledge is one of the most important things one can do in life besides being a good person. You two seem to really be genuine loving people that really like to share! wish y’all the best and thank you for all the advice and knowledge you spread with your fellow RV campers!
That's what I did. I still lock mine up to slow thieves down, but I also can put a virtual fence around it using the GPS, so I get a text alert if it leaves the campsite.
Cameras can also be a false sense of security. If it alerts you to an approach while you're in the rig, that's good but all it takes is a can of spray paint to defeat the best camera system especially with the cameras mounted low.
Nothing is every 100% theft proof. Most people will just move on versus working that hard to defeat cameras. It's just like those yard signs saying there is a security system on the property. Thieves just move on to the next one.
@@LizAmazing I agree with the OP that cameras are a good idea but can lead to a false sense of security. I fear the reality is that most thieves don't care about being on camera. Just witness the prevalence of porch pirate videos online. The motion sensor alarm is a good idea so long as you are around to hear it and are prepared to come face to face with a thief caught in the act. I agree with the OP that cameras are a good idea but can lead to a false sense of security.
I have camped my whole life, and never had anything stolen, we leave equipment all over our campsite, and dont care. But then the most valuable thing we have is the cooler full of beer...
@@MyMason100 I am deaf to alerts (so many I'm conditioned out of paying attention anymore). That is perfect in its simplicity. And it does all the initial work of telling them to scram without hearing any puny voices from your shadows: "who's there?" (put some bass in your voice!) "ahem Who is there???" (we're dead). lol
April 21 I was stopped at a motel 6 in silver city New Mexico. I was parked directly in front of the window, in front of the camera, under the lights. They stole my whole truck. It is not the same now.
Sadly, my faith in humanity is gone. I’ve been lied to, stolen from, and more from friends, family and strangers. I trust my wife and Jesus. That’s it!
Perfectly said! I don’t know how wise it is to not be that way! Contrary to the beliefs of the average dem, It’s actually rarely low income families who do this…it’s thieves who love to take from others! That’s why you sometimes see these rings of spoiled rich kids get arrested

I spent 35 years in the HR/people business and the change in three decades was distressing. Work ethic, honesty, commitment and decent behavior seriously declined. With the influx of more people in the RV life in the past few years I believe we will see more challenges with improper behavior of all types. Who raised these individuals?
I was recently told that video cameras are not really useful in ascertaining a criminal of theft as the crime doesn't warrant the investigation required. Sooo you have a picture of someone taking your property, what then? WOW...so sad what is becoming of our Country! Looks like there's no going back to honesty and trustworthiness!
It's another unfortunate sign of the times. Honor among campers is almost non existent nowadays. From just being rude to being loud and not cleaning up after themselves. It's sad but obviously we've seen it coming for at least a decade. I think it's because camping is so "easy" now. There's really no work or hardship as there was years ago. You can literally drag a hotel room on wheels to the middle of nowhere and have all the modern conveniences therefore attracting a whole other class of people to it. Sad but true....
We learned from Liz's bike being stolen in April 2020 that police are far too busy to be looking for stolen bikes. Since we are not going to be making a claim we decided not to bother them. Plus, the bikes are long gone by now! Live and learn.
The police are far too busy? Wow! here in southeast Wisconsin they come looking for a orange stake for marking your driveway when plowing the driveway. Watch out someone took a stake or stick the police are going to come get you. True story
@@LizAmazing Not reporting $7,000 worth of stolen property which IS a felony. You know what that is? It's STUPID!!! Here in the south we call that stinkin thinkin. What if it was your grandchilds e-bike, would you report it then? More than one law enforcement officer has said you should file a police report and I think they know better than you. And yes maybe the police are too busy to be looking for stolen bikes but do you have any idea how much stolen property is found inadvertantly through traffic stops, drug busts, theft rings being busted and various other investigations and busts, you don't know it might turn up in a year or two. On top of that all pawn shops have to submit detailed discriptions and serial numbers weekly to local law enforcement on all items they pawn that are over a certain $ value. ALL crimes should be reported or they go unnoticed so be a responsible citizen and file a police report. I forgot who said it but it goes somthing like this "All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing". I'm sure you're a good man so do something, report it, otherwise you are as much of the problem as the thief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmm….I’m NOT a thief, but if I was it would be pretty easy to put a piece of duck tape or something over the camera lens where you have it installed. Up high would be a better choice so that it wouldn’t be blocked or maybe the thief wouldn’t realize it was there. Got to be one step ahead!!
You can’t trust anyone. Hard lesson but it’s fact. And fellow campers aren’t necessarily who took your bikes. Very sad you are going through yet another hardship. Things will get better I’m sure !!
I suggest if you don't have them you both consider the other Locks that start with a G. Personal protection is most important. I'm not even a rookie camper but my wife and I have been seriously looking into purchasing something. Thank you for the heads up on security, another thing to put on our list.
Indeed. Thanks so much for your comment. And GPS trackers, too. We also think the biggest defense is having them covered (as well as locked). Thanks Patrick!

I'm afraid with this large rv boom this year that thieves will start targeting campers more often. I'm buying a bus to convert to rv and theft is my number one concern. Gonna have to keep receipts on everything and try to get full coverage.
I believe there is more honest people than not. I refuse to live in fear but that doesn’t mean I don’t take precautions to protect my family and belongings. That is very smart of you to keep receipts and good records!! We take a video of everything too!!
Thanks so much Mo & Jen! We love having you with us!!! Honestly, 99% of the time RV life is good. But no one wants to watch an uneventful video, unfortunately!!! See you in our bonus video tomorrow.
I am going to start running a timelapse camera out the window of my cheapo camper to help protect my fellow campers from these types of criminals. Getting the theft published was a good move because you never know who was coming up the highway at that hour with their dash camera running. If I were in the area I would review any old footage that I had, and I hope that others would also.
I’m sitting here watching the video and empathizing because there have been times when I let my guard down and get bit and want to kick myself. I’m thinking of how to word a comment and then your ending comes up. You two are just too dang funny.
Thank you Anna. I solo RVd for one year and I did feel safe. I started out boondocking (parked on the side of the road in pullouts) and didn't like that. But I felt safe in campgrounds.

I remember going camping at Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite years ago and was impressed with the incident free week even though the tent and various objects inside were untouched while out hiking, kayaking and bike riding. However, there were some sketchy guys we steered clear of.
Yes, this incident makes me think of all the tent campers. They leave their coolers, tents, etc when off exploring. I hope this doesn't happen to them.
Yup! Fellow RVers is exactly RIGHT! Not a night, that was broad daylight where they were riden away. Our stuff was stolen during broad daylight however a good dog will alert you during night but, go ahead and make my day.

I have a large gray waste tank cart that tows behind my truck at 5 miles an hour. Many state parks lack sewer hookups at the camp site. I use a heavy chain and lock to secure it to the trailer frame when not in use. The easier you make it the more certain of a bad outcome. Having lost a trailer full of tools to the tune of $6,000.00 because my lock was to easy to cut; I use a boot and heavy locks and chains.
So sorry this had to happen.. again. We had cameras installed on our truck, 5 of them, because of the millions of dollars we carry at any time. They have come in handy for us once as my husband was working on the truck with tools we store in the trailer. These tools are in locked boxes, however, since he was working outside on the truck he didn't feel he needed to lock the box until he was finished with the job and tools. Lucky for us, our cameras record and we have a large tablet display. I happen to notice movement in this display as I could hear my husband pounding under the truck. Someone was trying to take another set of tools from that box. Yikes!! I yelled and he dropped the box and kept running...
Oh my goodness! What a close call!! Wow! Yep, cameras are the best. We are super pleased with what we have and will definitely keep our new bikes covered and locked. Thanks for checking in with us, Liz. We love having you on our team!!!
Not saying everywhere is safe, but wondering why anyone would think any campground is any safer than camping in a city? You want practice checking your camp security? Go camp in Slab City, CA. (My tent stakes holding down my ground mat were stolen.)
Took a blow to my sense of humanity this morning. Informed my neighbor of thieves working our neighborhood late at night/early morning checking door locks of cars and possibly house doors all the way up the block. Their look outs stand outside his house. He asked why I sent him a text? That never happens to me, he said. I have been told to stop expecting more from poor neighbors. Wishing you the best in your travels!
Yep... the day I (Paul) arrived in-country (Nam - 1969) I had my duffel stolen by some scumbag. Luckily there wasn't much of anything of real value in it but it was still shocking that a fellow soldier would do it 🤷♂️
I'm so sorry to hear that. We have a whole new generation of campers now days. They are disrespectful. Since the pandemic I have seen more and more of these newbies that have no morals. Sad but true. Sorry for your loss and that you always have to be aware now. Takes the fun out of it.
Just subscribed! I hope you’ll take the retired officers advice and get an engraving tool, and that you will also report the bike stolen even after all this time, and I hope that you have the serial numbers of them. That was an awesome comment and I want a lot from him and from you both! God bless! See you around, onward and upward bound, hallelujah
If you have a $3,500 bike, bike locks, chains, alarms, and security cameras won't help protecting it. Let's just say no amount of locks and alarms can prevent it from being stolen if it's worth $3,500. All they need is an angle grinder and a quick getaway truck. They can just cutaway the whole bike rack and chuck everything on the back of a pickup truck. The alarm can sound and it doesn't matter because it only last a few seconds. Security cameras? Unless it's inside your RV. If it's outside, the thief will take it, too. Not like they can't take the one inside, They would just break the window glass and go inside your RV and take the security cameras (and everything of valuable also).

Seasonal homes are often a target for thieves. Today's high-end trail cams and cameras are a great way to hopefully deter or assist in the arrest of low-down dirty dogs. Apology in advance to the canine community. Honestly, I prefer animals to humans.
If they're hidden, they won't deter a thief. All you'll have is a picture...and probably not a very good one...of someone walking off with your gear. If you're in the RV and awake, then you could jump out stop them, but if you're not, you've got nothing but a picture of your thief.
You should still call the police in case they apprehend people with the bikes, plus you should contact the insurance companies to see if they'll cover it anyway. A police report would also help with that.

When hauling my bikes. I put on 5to 6 locks on. Plus a log chain. Takes me 15 minutes to lock and unlock all of em. Crooks want a quick grab. With that many they pass it up.

@4:20 mark, OF COURSE the campground would say they’re ‘shocked’ to learn there has been any theft…they will never admit that they know thefts are occurring and that they’re not able to prevent them.
I will do the same for my husband. He wants to take a walk when our Jackery is charging from our solar panels. He thinks I'm silly to want to lock them in our vehicle before we head out.
E-Bike theft is an epidemic throughout the country. No e-bike is safe from these scumbag thieves. Our e-bikes live under our constant attention and are locked up, even in our secure garage. A few weeks ago two locked very nice ebikes were stolen at a local outdoor dining spot with the owners only feet away! It’s easy to feel secure and invulnerable when camping in a remote place like you guys. Just a sad lesson learned but don’t beat yourselves up. It happens thousands of time a day!
I'm so sorry that happened to you. One of the hardest things I think for you to change is your mentality of not trusting anyone. I personally have that. I don't trust anyone. You are really nice people. Stay that way but don't trust anyone.
It's grand theft, and odds are the campground could always check records to see who was staying there at the time...don't let those thieves get away with it

I tell people all the time, when they comment about me boondocking alone, that I'm safer out in the middle of nowhere than I am in a campground. So sorry about your misfortune, sometimes people suck.
There’s been a few times we’ve had people steal from the camping area and a couple times items in the storage compartments. I have a bad habit of leaving them unlocked. I’ve noticed the people that own the RVs tend not to steal, but their guests that are more likely to be a lower income level. So I would suggest locking up your compartments and don’t leave anything outside you’re not willing to loose. I would also pay attention to the inventory takers. Some come as friendly neighbor and you’ll pay attention to them looking pretty much through your entire site. You’ll also have the inventory takers from the road. This is people that look a little too long inside your site or come by more than twice all the while looking at your site. If you have been paying attention, you’ll notice those inventory takers will usually be missing at the same time your stuff disappears. This happens more with parks that have permeant residents, but not limited to those parks.
These are great tips, thank you! We are loving our RV security cameras because people DO indeed scope out the area or "take inventory" as you say! Here's more about our cameras, which are recording 24/7: ruclips.net/video/8RuTcESPjyU/видео.html
I'm a manager for Lowe's and you would be shocked how much theft happens on a daily basis. If you guys ever want to go to Mt Rainier National Park in the future let me know. I have land super close to the park entrance.
That's awesome. Paul and I met in Silver Creek! So sorry that thefts are happening so much at Lowe's. Here's our update where we admit our Big Mistake: ruclips.net/video/0ZEYr0WZoH8/видео.html
I just starting camping again. Its so hard to hear that theives are among us!! Ill be buying cameras! I also own a Juiced Bike and love it! Ugh I just can't believe it!!!!
So sorry about your theft. It breaks my heart to hear. Long-time biker here, with my share of losing bikes from theft over the years- but I've slowly lived and learned what to do- and not to do- to minimize the chance of it. Firstly- you're starting over, so... Remove the batteries from the bikes before you put them on the rack- whether your parked (it'll make them one step less attractive since they're incomplete) and on the road (so there's no chance of them coming loose.) Any room for them when you're parked in your RV basement storage? Do you have quick-release hubs? Remove the front wheels, too. (They won't be able to ride away and again, they'll be one step more unattractive to steal. NO Cable Locks, folks! They can be cut through way too easily. Yes, ANY lock or chain can be foiled, but the idea is, the better the chain and lock shackle, the longer it takes to cut and the equipment needed is noisier. Don't try to save money on your locks! Think about WHAT you're locking it to. For instance, if a bike with a high-end chain and lock wrapped around not only your bike (which a thief isn't going to cut through since that's what they want) is then wrapped around a bike rack which is made of plastic or thin tubing which can be cut, then it's vulnerable. Ideally, if your rear bike rack that the bikes are chained to is made of angled or square steel, it'll be tougher. Think about and research GPS tracking devices that can be inserted stealthily somewhere in your bike. Consider storing your bike IN the RV when you're not nearby or are sleeping. Chain your bikes together, as well as to something. Use multiple locks. They'll be hard to take away if chained together. Good luck everyone and happy biking, camping and RV-ing!

This makes me sick ! You two have had a rough start to the year, and this is not what you needed. I don’t understand people anymore. You just can’t trust people even if you’re out in the middle of nowhere. If you make it out to SW Michigan, I’d love to have you stay out on our property. Hang in there and stay safe.
OMG. My ❤️ is broken for you two! You are both “amazing “! I can guarantee you that whomever the thief was has some serious bad karma coming there way! I tent and car camped all summer and didn’t trust anyone. Had a faux security camera outside my tent., however, I also have an Airbnb and had a few guests this summer with sticky fingers. Nothing expensive missing, but your video has me thinking I need to put a solid lock on my closet where I keep my personal items in the unit. You just never know! And you can’t judge a book by its cover. My worst air bnb guests ever were this sweet couple in their 60s. lol Another sad fact is drug addicts will steal from anyone to get their drugs and you can’t always tell by appearances if someone is a drug addict. So, you are absolutely right! Trust no one, secure your premises and then say a few prayers and be free. Love you guys! Your videos inspire me to keep working towards hitting the road.. and thank you for sharing the good and bad so we get a full picture!
@@lbrockington7025 People are thieves much more than you'd believe. We like to think it's all preaches cream and rosey world. It's not sadly.
@C. W. Sayre That's not entirely true. Ever heard of a crime of opportunity?
Ha! That was me that sent your wallet back! :)
What a fabulous story! Thanks so much for sharing!! :-D
That's because you were in minnesota....west coast is way different, a lot of nasty people out here.
MN nice!
That was amazing that someone had enough character to send your wallet back to you complete and whole!
Whether they were locked up or not, it's still theft. And if the police find them, they won't know they're yours if you don't file a report.
Exactly, excellent comment! I was thinking the same thing. God Bless and we must employ a better and much stricter government like in Dubai. Dubai has practically ZERO crime rate due to very strict rules. Also Singapore. We here in USA need total reform of crime laws and punishment.
When it comes to recovering stolen items.....sorry to say but the police couldn't find their asses in the dark with both hands searching
Real reason they didn’t file a report is because they’re wealthy and just ordered more.
Store bikes IN your rv, tent or car. Don't ATTRACT crime by leaving stuff around to be scoped out by thieves.
Especially expensive items!
$7k of bikes unlocked!!?!?
I couldn't agree more! I bought brand new high end fold up Bicycles and I was going to mount them on the back of my Rv (locked up) and the owner of the store told me "you're asking for trouble! "

This has been going on for a long time people are only now becoming aware of it. I live in a blue collar area where there is quite a bit and growing amount of poverty and I’ve seen people getting ripped off for decades. Between the leniency of the courts and the huge drug problems we have in the country criminals are getting a slap on the wrist and go out and rip off more people.
sounds a bit unrealistic that camping chairs and various other items from the campsite can run up in $7.000. I would have estimated it to $500.
You definitely should report this, whether embarrassed or not. Check the classifieds in the area to see if someone is selling them for fast cash.

Right??
Spot on ...like death and taxes thieves will always be with us. G'day from Australia mate 🇦🇺 Shop less? Be more like Davy Crocket. Travel light.

One suggestion when putting your bikes on the back of your tow vehicle take the battery out seat off and take the pedals off and lock them up no battery no seat no pedals won't get stolen👍👍👍👍👍 also put a battery operated camera on the back of your RV aiming at your bikes

The good news is things can be replaced and both of you are healthy and unharmed. Sending love, light and prayers for your future adventures. May peace be with you now and always.
I second that.
Cameras don’t discourage thieves. They give you a nice video of someone who can’t identify stealing your property and they lull you into a false sense of security
They actually do, you will see lots of videos of Ring cameras stopping and catching thieves. And we know that’s why banks use cameras.

So glad you made the video. I see many women camping alone. I have commented to them about being alone. They say it's safe. Sorry for your loss
Thank you Anna. I solo RVd for one year and I did feel safe. I started out boondocking (parked on the side of the road in pullouts) and didn't like that. But I felt safe in campgrounds.
I live in the area where you were camping and unfortunately the crime rate has been crazy. Too many people out of work or unwilling to work. Covid-19 has hurt this country in so many ways.
Thanks for this video. I tend to drop my guard when I'm in what I feel is safe campground.
Us, too! Glad our mistakes our helping others, painful as it was to make this video. Here's the scoop on the RV security cameras: ruclips.net/video/8RuTcESPjyU/видео.html
Ahhh! So sad! I'm sorry for your loss of your property.
Yikes, so sorry you went through that. Our dog never alerted us but it was raining that night. BUT we made a Big Mistake, here's our update: ruclips.net/video/0ZEYr0WZoH8/видео.html
The saddest part is losing your faith in others, and it's 1% of the total of every one you will ever meet but will put doubts in the next 99% you meet...

My Trek bike has my Driver's license engraved underneath on it. Engraving makes it easier for Law Enforcement locate me if recovered.
Great tips, thank you Ron!
I'm so sorry about that. Glad you guys are safe and ready to move forward with new bikes. Good luck be safe.
Thank you very very much. Stay safe.
This reminds me when I was in the military. My fellow soldiers were serious thieves.
Yep... the day I (Paul) arrived in-country (Nam - 1969) I had my duffel stolen by some scumbag.
Thank you sir for your service and putting your life on the line to protect me and mine and everybody else. God bless
Now it's true that nothing is 100% theft proof. Overall we have found campgrounds to be safe places. BUT we made a Big Mistake, here's our update: ruclips.net/video/0ZEYr0WZoH8/видео.html
So sorry this had happened to you as well this happened to my wife and I 2yrs ago at a campground and it happened to be people who we thought were our friends we had met we reported it , well a week later we were at another campground well guess what we ran into The Who we thought were friends and our bikes so my wife called the sheriffs I stayed over watching these P.O.S needless to say you should’ve seen there faces as I stood at there 5wheel door with the Sheriff needless to say they both were arrested and charged with felony theft held at the Sheriffs office In Mexico and picked up by Texas sheriffs department and there 5 th wheeler towed to a impound yard this made out our worst and then best campground experience so far
OMG! That is terrible! You STILL need to call the police and file your insurance claim!
Thank you!!! We learned from the theft in April 2020 that police are too busy to look for stolen bicycles. We didn't want to bother them as we won't be filing a claim. See you in our bonus video tomorrow.
So sorry 😞 I agree it's unthinkable for fellow rv's to steal. Thank You for sharing your experience and things you are finding that works!
Amen
I want to say sorry for your loss! Dang thief! I hate them.
Now days, you get people who lost their jobs, living in camp grounds! Poor people! So, please be careful! Don't trust anyone, anymore! This is our new world, we live in!
Thank you. BUT we made a Big Mistake, here's our update: ruclips.net/video/0ZEYr0WZoH8/видео.html
Seasonal homes are often a target for thieves. Today's high-end trail cams and cameras are a great way to hopefully deter or assist in the arrest of low-down dirty dogs. Apology in advance to the canine community. Honestly, I prefer animals to humans.
I place hidden game trail cameras around my camp sites.
If they're hidden, they won't deter a thief. All you'll have is a picture...and probably not a very good one...of someone walking off with your gear. If you're in the RV and awake, then you could jump out stop them, but if you're not, you've got nothing but a picture of your thief.
And the thieves always wear hoodie with face mask. You'll never id them
9 times out of 10, video footage wont do anything for you.
You should still call the police in case they apprehend people with the bikes, plus you should contact the insurance companies to see if they'll cover it anyway. A police report would also help with that.
Thieves become the spirit guardians of my neighbor's fence posts. In Texas we don't mess around.
Good for you!
Should still file police report... may help get them back.
After my bike got stolen in April 2020, we learned that police are far too busy to be looking for stolen bicycles. They will make a report so we can file an insurance claim. We knew the bikes were long gone and also knew we weren't going to make a claim. See you in our bonus video tomorrow.
When hauling my bikes. I put on 5to 6 locks on. Plus a log chain. Takes me 15 minutes to lock and unlock all of em. Crooks want a quick grab. With that many they pass it up.
Yes. You just gotta slow them down!!!
Thanks for sharing guys. I'll be new to RV'ing within 30 days, so these tips are a big plus and help to keep me and my wife safe. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
I'm sorry to see that you people experienced this bad experience! One thing I have learned in life at the age of 70 is to never underestimate what could actually happen. Prepare for the worst!

Sorry to hear about your bikes.

Well all we can do is pray for them.

I have camped my entire life. 10 years ago I had my stove, pots and pans and my kids fishing poles stolen. After that I have learned to never leave things out if I am not going to be around and especially at night. It is sad but unfortunately you can't trust everyone.

Sounds like you didn't have a pot to p*** in.
That's a shame. I go with my rv all around texas havnt had any issues so far but it sure does make me want to lock my stuff up now.

So true. Thank you so much for this! Big hugs to you and be safe as well.

My Dad always joked that RVers didn’t mess with anyone else’s stuff because we all had keys to each others’ rigs. Sadly, those days are gone it sounds like.

@4:20 mark, OF COURSE the campground would say they’re ‘shocked’ to learn there has been any theft…they will never admit that they know thefts are occurring and that they’re not able to prevent them.
I tell my wife all the time to look up ours and she always saying nobody going to take nothing, so I will be showing her your video.
I will do the same for my husband. He wants to take a walk when our Jackery is charging from our solar panels. He thinks I'm silly to want to lock them in our vehicle before we head out.
Not wise to pick a fight with your spouse. I always lose when I try that.
Are hidden GPS locators available for stolen bikes?
Yes you can buy GPS locator devices for ebikes and other valuables. Not sure about range though.
Yes, that's so true. They are hot right now. And generators, too. See you in our bonus video tomorrow.
I find if you have nice stuff somebody wants to steal it. For me what works is to buy second hand stuff that is already beat up and nobody wants it.
I'm so sorry that happened to you. One of the hardest things I think for you to change is your mentality of not trusting anyone. I personally have that. I don't trust anyone. You are really nice people. Stay that way but don't trust anyone.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Lorrie! From now on, locked and covered!
It's grand theft, and odds are the campground could always check records to see who was staying there at the time...don't let those thieves get away with it
File a police report and then file an insurance claim - you're paying insurance for a reason!
I agree. Unless your insurance contact says you must lock up , you are not bound to do so.

@@LizAmazing Don’t ignore Daniel Johnson’s advice. He took the time to write a lengthy comment full of great advice. File a police report.
@@pnwester2697 Don't be the perfect victims. File the report.

Excellent advice and we've done much of what you suggested.
