Thank you for this review, if you could those of us out here in RUclips land really need a more in-depth review of this crossbow such as accuracy, and if the 350 grain (including broadhead) is the only recommended weight limit for the R 18? Is 350 grains the limit of what you can shoot out of this crossbow? Is there a heavier grain bolt for the R 18? And what kind of broad heads will shoot accurately in this R 18 crossbow, does Ravin sell a heavier bolt for this crossbow? or is this crossbow only designed to shoot this particular weight of bolt only? It would be most helpful for all of us hunters out there to know this information on this crossbow, what are the best broad heads to use with this crossbow? Hope you put out another video or somebody does with this important information which is not been addressed by anyone yet. PS. With 100 grain broadhead the bolt would weigh 350 grains including the broad head, but this weight is a little too light for deer hunting. So if 350 grains total is all this crossbow can shoot safely and accurately it may not be the best choice for deer hunting. I’m sure a 350 grain arrow can kill deer but something 50 grains heavier would probably be a better choice according to all the statistics. Also when hunting deer a loud crossbow is never a good thing.
Ravin’s manual says to only shoot these 350 g bolts. It says to use mechanical broadheads because they fly better than using a fixed blade. As far as accuracy it’s dead on the money. They’ll be another video when I can get around to it.

I'm a little fuzzy on the purpose of a crossbow I'm guessing it's more accurate and compact, I can't imagine it's more powerful than a compound and it's noisy and takes forever to cock is there a good application for these?
They can most definitely be more powerful especially if you went with the r500 but that’s for the wealthy crossbow shooter. You can reload in about 30sec and silently. When I’m able to they’ll be an updated shooting video.
Looks like plastic to me. The buttstock and such are they alloy or polymer? 330 fps is also not all that fast is it? I'm hearing about some crossbows shooting 4-5 hundred. The compactness is great, and the design.
I don’t need one that shoots 500fps. This design is what caught me because of how unique. My compound bow by Mathew’s is only 330fps. It’s all aluminum, except for where steel needs to be used, some polymer and fiberglass limbs.
Leave it to Ravin to build a lethal crossbow pistol the right way with the power of most of there competitors rifles lmao I can't afford there stuff but I love this company!!!
Nifty design but for me to get one it'd need about 400fps. Given the design idk how high the draw weight would need to be to achieve that but with that crank I imagine it would be no issue drawing it back regardless of the draw weight
I recommend a mission sub 1 xr. They are $1799 I think, but have super great accuracy, and 410fps 250 draw weight. Cool fingers
Maybe I should start an only fans for them
Thanks for the review, very thorough. Just, @ 7:18, maybe not putting your finger on the tip of the arrow while loading it would be best.
Yea, he dont like that finger.
Never shot crossbow. a beginner review excellent.
Lol not really maybe had I not screwed up some of the information
Wow! That is a compact unit.
Thank you for the review
I'm not a crossbow guy but is it illegal to put a motor in a crossbow or something? I always felt the cranking action could be solved with an electric motor versus the hand crank for speed and ease of use.
Ravin actually has one coming out but for the price totally not worth it
They need to make something like this but with a 20v bat pack and dc motor that auto recocks after firing.
They are making a motor but it’s $$$$$
@@CagedSUPERMAN How about that! Yep 3700 bucks, it's cool but not 3700 cool.
@@ntme9 this cross bow is $1500 not 3700……. You people replying with dumb comments will have no problem dropping money on rifles and pistols that are absolutely not worth some of their price tags. But yet you come crap on this to make yourself seem smart. But thanks for all the hate clicks, you’ve all been smart enough to fund another ravin……..
@@CagedSUPERMAN Dude are you drunk? I was talking about the one with the motor..
Excellent machine but it would always be in the back of my mind that if that cable breaks it's probably a severe headache 😂⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️
Nope. They said when they purposely caused it to fail in testing that the limbs barely move from the uncocked position
is it already sighted in and if so what are the yardages on the 3 red dot sights?
Yes it’s already sighted in roughly by ravin. I had to make very minor windage adjustments. 20, 30, 40
I love my 26 Ravin anything I pointed to it dead 1 to 100 yards
I’m here to comment about fingers and nothing else
I can hear your wife after filming, saying "I told you to read the instructions...."
Nice review. Don’t understand your warning about fingers. Everything looked good to me.
Everyone whined about me pushing the arrow on the tip instead of pinching
@@CagedSUPERMAN I guess they missed the part about this being your first crossbow. Maybe they were born perfect.
I'm a little fuzzy on the purpose of a crossbow
I'm guessing it's more accurate and compact, I can't imagine it's more powerful than a compound
and it's noisy and takes forever to cock
is there a good application for these?
They can most definitely be more powerful especially if you went with the r500 but that’s for the wealthy crossbow shooter. You can reload in about 30sec and silently. When I’m able to they’ll be an updated shooting video.
$1500.00 on ebay hell no I'm good not worth it. I'd pay $700 maybe $850 max.
Your money your choice
Someone really needs to make one of these with electric, automatic cocking...
They have a motorized crank coming but damn it’s not cheap
I like it
I. Like it
Looks like something right out of a video game
Looks like plastic to me. The buttstock and such are they alloy or polymer? 330 fps is also not all that fast is it? I'm hearing about some crossbows shooting 4-5 hundred. The compactness is great, and the design.
I don’t need one that shoots 500fps. This design is what caught me because of how unique. My compound bow by Mathew’s is only 330fps. It’s all aluminum, except for where steel needs to be used, some polymer and fiberglass limbs.
I wonder if you could perform a 70 yard shot! This is so unique
Probably
With my R10, I was putting arrows in a 6” circle at 100yds.
Ravin has a great product.
God damn all that loading I might as well get the 50 cal Muzzleloader out
Whatever floats your boat
Leave it to Ravin to build a lethal crossbow pistol the right way with the power of most of there competitors rifles lmao I can't afford there stuff but I love this company!!!
They make cool stuff but they don’t bother helping with faulty parts
why does it need proprietary bolts? Does it have a weird nock?
The knock locks into the fire control to disengage the safe system
It seems like a really wide bolt/arrow slot, right?
It is. But doesn’t inhibit accuracy
Nifty design but for me to get one it'd need about 400fps. Given the design idk how high the draw weight would need to be to achieve that but with that crank I imagine it would be no issue drawing it back regardless of the draw weight
They make one that’s 500fps but it’s also $3700.
@@CagedSUPERMAN lol far to expensive for my budget
@@StonedRedneckMarine lol me too. The r500 I’m sure is a beast but I’d never pay that much for a crossbow
I recommend a mission sub 1 xr. They are $1799 I think, but have super great accuracy, and 410fps 250 draw weight. My husband bought a crank at the bow shop for it and it’s silent unlike the ratchet cranks. I ordered the ravin r18 for myself because I like more compact and lightweight crossbows. It’ll be here Thursday. But the mission is one BA crossbow!
@@Van_Ughhh this is silent as well
