Fun video 😁 Just so you know, there isn't a nutrient breakdown on stratum because it's compressed volcanic soil/ash. Because it's naturally occurring, they'd have to test every batch to get a breakdown, which companies are not trying to do, lol. It does have added bacteria as a soil conditioner. It's a really awesome substrate! The Bio Stratum is exactly the same stuff but much smaller. It's more of a powder. The smaller size allows for use in aquariums for baby shrimp to hide in. They are tiny. Thanks so much for taking the time to film and share your journey! It was a lot of fun 😊 Take care 🌺
Thank you so much for sharing!! 🙌🥰 that was super helpful!
@@planttherapiiwhere did you find that black bottom clear cover prop box?? I can't find one that big, it's a must have! Thank you
With stratum, I’ve been told to buy the regular kind (the one that you used). I’ve been rooting propagations and acclimating tissue culture in stratum and it’s been awesome. I have a 100% success rate with my tissue culture acclimations so far! Mostly Thai Constellations and other aroids.
I consider stratum to be substrate gold! ❤
Thats amazing!! Thank you for sharing with us!! 🥰
I grow hoya cuttings in Fluval. They root up so fast and stay hydrated. Love it.
That's awesome! I've been too scared to chop and prop any of my hoya. Have you had any luck propping leafless 'stem' cuttings?
@@planttherapii I'm trying it right now. It had already started rooting when it dropped all of it's leaves. I'll let you know what happens.
Yess please do!!
I am so glad you made this video on Alocasia! My favorite plant variety by far. I have a drafty old house in eastern Colorado, but we just purchased a green house (4x8) for indoors after watching your video. Come spring we plan on purchasing a bunch of different Alocasia, either crom's or starters so this video was just what we needed.
Thank you!! OoO that's so exciting! Are you going to wait for spring to start growing plants in your green house or get it started now??
@@planttherapii Couldn't wait lol It's been up and in use for a couple weeks now. We call it the hospital as we have a few plants that needed so extra attention also we got some starters in there like Pathos, Peace lily, Red Ivy and Aloe Vera, Aloe Vera, and more Aloe Vera hahaha (My wife uses it on her skin nightly and loves it). Going to see how well all that holds up over winter then go for the Alocasia crom's/starters next spring.
Haha I was hoping you set it up already! I totally would have too, can't make us wait!! I love using mine for plants in extra need of help too. It's the one area I know I can have regulated temp and humidity
Stratum is awesome! It’s low in nitrogen but is very beneficial for many plants 🖤
What plants have you grown in it?? I'm wanting to try others but I'm a little nervous lol
@@planttherapii I have used it for corms and wetsticks. I grew a verrucosum in it too! I don’t plant in it as I prefer pon because it’s reusable (stratum can be quite messy and breaks down easily and is expensive) but I have many friends who use it and they grow all kinds of plants in it! Anthuriums, monsteras, philodendron, you name it! Stratum is in my plant drawer for my babies 🥰🥰 I try to use it sparingly 💚 Great video!!
That's a great idea! Thanks girl!!
@@planttherapii 💚🤍🌱
You are absolutely adorable! I just got some fluval stratum and mystery corms to do a homeschool project with my kids :)
That's such a great project for kids! I hope they grow beautifully for you guys!
I've also had excellent luck with alocasia babies in stratum!
What begonia is that?? It’s beautiful!! and thank you for the info!
Really liked this video....thank u for recommending it!💚💚💚
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!
As soon as you said your name was Madison, I knew I belonged here.
🙌🏼 yes you do!!
This is such a big help! Did you happen to try out the bio stratum? I got it by accident and wasn't sure if it would be too much fertilizer/nutrients released from the bio one, did it end up working better?
I don't think I did try that. That's awesome it worked well for you!
I’m really interested in how long you can use flugal stratum, I have mixed it with extract large perlite.
I'm not sure but I do remember it starting to break down after a few months but I don't think I ever mixed it with anything. Maybe that will stretch the life out longer? Definitely let me know how long it lasts for ya!
Where did you purchase the large propagation containers with the big domes?
I found those at a local plant supply store but you can find them online by searching for propagation containers or something like that!
I can’t find fluval only for plants seems mostly on Amazon is aquarium What type did u use
It's the same stuff! I think I have the link for the one I ordered in the video description!
How much water do you add to the containers with stratum?
Just enough to wet everything without soaking it! I hope that helps!!
Hi!! Great job !! I would like to ask if you use any reservoirs for these fluvals ? How do you water them ?
I had them sitting in a large tray and I’d just water like normal!
How do you prevent fungus in your prop box?
I don't usually have issues with gnats in my prop boxes but if I did, I'd try using mosquito bits!
What do you do if there’s mold on them? There’s some white fuzz on the ones I’m trying to propagate (on top of the stratum and around the plant and roots) what did I do wrong??
the mold it totally normal but you can always wipe it away!
@@planttherapii Will this cause any fungal/mold issues later on when I move them from the stratum to potting soil??
do you keep them in stratum indefinitely or switch to a substrate?
So far I've been switching plants out of the stratum after I start seeing new growth and tons of new roots!
