Started my spaghetti squash and straight necked yellow in the hot house early spring. The squash bugs and leaf footed bugs really have picked on the spaghetti squash but they grew before they could be drilled by the borers and the bugs left the yellow squash totally alone!! Yeah!! Going to put out earlier next year. We're a couple of hours above you (Millen, GA). LOVE YOUR VIDEOS... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I struggle growing summer squash in Tallahassee. This year I grew Dunji zucchini and was happy with the production. I grew Goldprize yellow squash and production was low with mainly male flowers. The plants still look healthy, but only a few blooms. I really enjoy your informative videos and really like that most are filmed in the garden. Take care and be safe, especially in the hot southern sun... Go Gators...

Hi Travis. I am loving the Katrinas you sent me! I fight my husband for them and caught him in the garden snacking today🤣. Have you ever tried the Asian long bean? Last year I tried seeing how long they would produce if I pushed them through the worst part of the summer and to my surprise they produced well into the fall. As long as I kept the pest and rust pressures under control, they just kept on going.

You're picking those Katrina's at the perfect size. Another 1-1/2 to 2" and they plump up and turn yellow in my experience. When my plants get about 6-7 feet tall I start new seeds for transplant that way I get production about the time the first round may start to give up the ghost. Nice side by side comparison .

I enjoyed this! This has become my favourite gardening channel, and I watch a lot of gardening channels! I think Supremo cucumbers are really great, we love them so much fresh and pickled that I decided not to bother growing a traditional slicking cucumber this year.

I can usually get winter squash through squash bugs and powdery mildew if healthy.
I rarely win the SVB fight but keep trying and replanting through.

Travis, love that you moved on so well. I've been with you for so many years now, time flies! My tree trimmers killed my prized fig by dropping a 90 foot pine onto it. I'm bummed.

Those Katrina cucumbers seem quite similar to the "party time" variety I planted this year.

My first set of squash I planted are just now producing little squash, then I have some in another bed that are only about half their size and I just planted some in a third bed. No bugs or disease so far. I almost hate to say so and jinx it. I may put a few of the cucumber seeds I bought from you in once they get here (coming in today) as I planted National Pickling the first time and only got a few to germinate. My beans however have been attacked by bugs. Not sure what these green worms are that roll up in the leaves but I am squishing them as I see them and the beans just keep going.

Loved the red rimming on sunglasses. Loved the size of the cucumbers, perfect for the pickling jars. I do like the the yellow squash but have never been able to have a second planting due to bug pressure. Good for you to be able to have 3.

Light green plants can be an issue with iron. Maybe that variety requires more iron or cant take advantage of available iron. Great garden regardless

My last squash got bored out the other day. Cukes are on the decline after a very productive run. Trying to decide whether to go for a second round under shadecloth to keep out borers and pickleworms.

Pickle worms have ruined my crop and have even gotten into a green tomato. I've never had a problem with them before and I'm wondering if the compost I bought came with a bunch of pupae in it. I've sprayed with BT but I'm afraid I caught the problem to late.

Those look lovely so I’m new. I’ve been four years at it but this year I wanted to focus on cucumbers to pickle them so I bought a bunch of cucumbers and I bought those Boston pickling, but I planted about 13 seeds and they’re all doing very well now I saw DANNY from Deep south where he says you can trim some of them leaves away so you’ll get you can find your cucumbers and the beast can find your cucumber so I have I’ve been trimming here and there, but I cannot keep up. I am pickling almost daily and People say well. They look like they’re gonna go to their end. Well I’ve already popped in more seats, but I am doing so good. I’ve been gifting fresh cucumber away. We’ve been eating salads like daily. I have pickled at least 10 quarts. I like both of them, the regular cucumber and the Boston pickling one I like them both, but I did buy from hostels. I saw him the other day talk about the mini me All female cucumber so I already bought some seeds started playing them. I just can’t wait for them to start they do say they go on a troll so I’ve already put a new bed. He didn’t ready for it. Exciting season tomatoes maybe six plants and they’re barely coming up, I’ve got a jumpstart on my cucumbers. I’ve already harvest garlic potatoes. I really watch young guys. Plenty I think I learn a lot.🥒🥒💚🌱🌱

Not sure about blueberries, but figs are best planted in early spring once the risk of frost has passed.

Hey Travis, new to these term you putting out. “Gynoecious and parthenocarpic”
These come is squash varieties and you have some ? I’m wondering if I can grow these in a raised bed with row cover. Protection from SVB and no need for pollination?

    • @LazyDogFarm
      @LazyDogFarm  4 месяца назад +2

Yes, they're perfect for that. The Golden Glory zucchini is parthenocarpic so it could be grown that way.
