The fact that they eventually bring the conversation back around amazes me. It feels like I’m hanging with my friends who also discuss things this way. Every story has a side story lmao
“People always say ‘quit while you’re ahead’ but honestly, I think there is a lot of value in quitting while you’re behind” absolutely wrecked me, thank you for that laugh
The bird story!!! I believe you Connor. When my grandpa died I had a blue bird at my window every morning for weeks after his death. The blue bird would peck the window and wake me up in the morning. I’ve always kinda connected the two together because I had a really awesome relationship with my grandpa and I figure it was him saying goodbye and also showing me he is still here. He loved gardening and birds
The Kardashians promote incredibly unrealistic body and beauty standards for women and have the audacity to say in an interview it’s just because they “work harder than others”. They honestly need to be more careful how they discuss things like that. They are not innocent in toxic beauty standards for women.
I also do believe that the body transformations men do in Hollywood are dangerous as well and I applaud Robert Pattinson not wanting to take part in that culture for Batman. Additionally I understand women supporting women, but that does not mean we need to support things that are bad, that’s just blinding supporting people and that’s dangerous.
@@sophiebaylon4616 I think for me its also like that she didn't need to do it. They kept saying that it was her job but like she could've gone to the met gala as 15 lbs heavier.
@@mayam9575 YES. It’s so tiring upholding the notion that celebrities have to be thin to keep their job. Especially when the masses would follow whatever the Kardashians do anyway
the fact that Marilyn had that dress made for HER body, and was an icon for REALISTIC body standards. She didn’t need surgery to be the sexist woman in Hollywood. I find her disgusting for even trying it on.
Let them be them and you be you and get over it. Why do you hold celebrities so highly that you base all your emotions and thoughts off them? It's really such few people that are obsessed with social media that might look at their bodies and say "I want to look like them". I mean all they seem to get is hate while they're loving themselves. Parents need to parent their daughters instead of letting them think social media is reality. Everyone's beautiful. Even those with so much plastic surgery and photoshop. It's art.

I agree that Lili is pretty reckless with the delivery of her criticisms but I agreed with the core of her criticism of Kim. And I don’t think that being critical of what a woman does means you’re a bad feminist or not generally supportive of women. Kim’s obviously invested in her body image and has little to no perspective about how it affects other women and that’s completely worth criticizing imo. As is Lilis portrayal of her acne! She could also be like “I have acne and don’t feel good about it but also know I have lots of support to make me look good”. Both very flawed “role models”
i feel like brooke is maybe a little scared of getting canceled for the lilli/kim opinion but personally the most frightening/cancelable take on this episode was connor saying her listens to the RADIO in the CAR.
i love when y’all have guests on your podcast but honestly just the chemistry between brooke and connor is unbeatable that my fav episodes have just been the two of them! i could listen to them talk forever :)
Someone who is already at their “peak” body from fitness and dieting (in addition to numerous surgeries and procedures that were blatantly lied about) dropping weight that quickly is not a good example no matter which way you cut it. So much of your branding stemming from “trying on” the bodies of Black women through surgeries, hairstyles, and blatantly stealing fashion from them, then proceeding to credit your body to flat tummy teas and hunger satiating lollipops, in addition to “just diet and exercise” is never going to be the girl boss moment it’s been framed to be. Anyone doing this for any role, especially now when 1) different bodies have the opportunity to be celebrated and 2) CGI is capable of making an actor look malnourished if that’s part of their role, is not setting a positive example for everyone around them! REGARDLESS of gender!!!!! When you’ve centered your entire career around your physique and setting beauty standards, it’s more than valid for people to call out how unhealthy it is both mentally and physically to do that to oneself!
Brooke saying (re lilli reinhart) “if you’re conventionally gorgeous you have to think about how you’re talking about your body” is a little contradictory after saying we shouldn’t criticize Kim for losing weight for the met gala, because they have never been realistic about their bodies lol. They also need to think about how they talk about their bodies and be transparent about all the surgeries they’ve had to achieve them
I think for me the issue w the Kardashians is that Kim K is held up as a beauty standard that we should emulate where Mathew mcanahagh and other men are held up as impressive but not something that is hot and that other men should do. If u r playing a skinny character like someone who is an addict or has AIDS you need to be skinny. Why does someone going to the met gala need to be skinny?
It wasn’t that she needed to be skinny it was to fit into a specific dress. She didn’t need to wear the dress (it wasn’t even slightly on theme) but it wasn’t purely to be skinny. It’s partly the responsibility of the viewer to understand that half of her body is made from money and no one’s gonna look like her no matter how much weight they lose. If someone’s not old enough to understand that they really shouldn’t be on the internet
@@ellabiddy4741 I think that's a very short sighted take. EVERYONE is on the Internet, and all the teen girls who are negatively influenced by Kim promoting starvation diets aren't just going to leave the Internet because you said so. We should try and improve these toxic standards rather than just saying "if you don't like it, don't look at it".
@@samspam1788 I definitely think we should improve the standards and yeah her losing 16 pounds in 3 weeks is too fast (and definitely not 16 lbs of fat, more like water) for her size. Maybe it’s because whenever I hear people talk about Kim’s body it’s always talking about how disproportionate and unrealistic it is, I never hear people envy her, so I was kind of thinking about it as people following her diet to look like HER, not just to lose weight in general, and anyone thinking they could look like her without buying her ‘assets’ would be very dumb. I could see how someone could read that and think they could lose weight that fast, but in my experience, someone struggling with an eating disorder has tried or knows ways to lose weight that are way more dangerous than essentially going Keto, eating veggies and protein, and running on the treadmill like she said she did. Should there be more education on healthy/realistic weight change rather than crash dieting out there? Definitely. But since that will possibly never happen due to having free speech, a more effective route would be parents watching what their kids are seeing on the internet, and people gaining the understanding that celebrities are unrealistic for a reason, cause their body is their job to some degree. I grew up starving myself when Ashley Simpson was considered fat and all the teen stars became emaciated, so maybe my view is a bit off because Kim to me has never been the epitome of thinness, and because she effectively looked the same before and after the weight loss
@@ellabiddy4741 I understand what you're saying but I think Kim's comments are more of a gateway to starting disordered behaviours. I know my anorexia started wjth trying to be healthy, eating more veggies, less carbs, etc. and got out of hand. If I were 13 when kim had said this, it would have functioned as a 'how-to' guide to lose 16lbs in 3 weeks for me. I think it was very irresponsible of her. I understand also that freedom of speech means nobody can stop kim saying what she wants to say - and I agree with you there needs to be better education about health. I just think there's no harm in calling these dangerous statements out and trying to change the cultural message, whether it stops kim saying these things or not.
@@samspam1788 yeah I do think the Kardashians have a habit of not realizing the weight of their words or the effect of their actions. I can see how it would be more of a gateway rather than a trigger for someone already struggling. I don’t think what she said was “disgusting” like Lili Reinhardt said, but it was bad judgment on her part to say that, especially since she’s supposed to be the smart one
This podcast is literally my saving grace I cannot explain how much I could just listen to you two talk for hours also Brooke I am with you with the depression feelings and not knowing if I’m really sick hang in there girl 😰
connor i'm so sorry for your neighbor and however it happened is so sad but i'm just imagining you trying to leap over the body bag at the bottom of your stairs like crossing a stream in the woods n i'm having a hard time not giggling a bit... again rip ur neighbor i hope he's loving being a tiny little bird spirit
I don’t think comparing Kim’s weight loss to actor’s weight loss/gain is on the same ballpark, I mean I get the point but Kim could’ve just wore a replica or something and the point would’ve been the same, there’s no need on shaming people for not having a body like hers or not being able to lose weight as quick as she can. Actors don’t lose/gain weight to set a standard on beauty they do it for the role, it’s not like anyone wants to look like Christian Bale in The Machinist. Personally idc about either, just trying to empathize. But anyhow just my opinion, great pod as always 👌🏻
She didn’t lose weight to fit a beauty standard, she lost weight to fit in a historic dress. The Kardashians definitely contribute to toxic beauty standards, but on this incident, I’m fully in agreement with Brooke.
@@kiley2381 she’s isn’t fitting a beauty standard, she’s setting one, that’s the whole point. Losing that much weight in such a short period of time is unsustainable for most people. So basically, anyone that’s trying to lose weight and failing at it could feel embarrassed at her success. Same with Brooke and the acne thing comparing her own circumstances to Lili Reinhart.
If Kim lost the weight for the dress she didn’t have to say anything. You might not be personally affected but others might have been just like how lily affected Brooke with the pimple patch lol. It is Kim’s body and she can do whatever she wants but to announce that she lost 16lbs in three weeks might be dangerous to some minds that have bodies that don’t work like that. I understand where lily is coming from and I do think she should have worded it different but I don’t think it would have reached a large audience if she didn’t react the way she did so idk lol
I feel the same. The way she worded it was necessary because it grabbed peoples attention and started a conversation about something serious. Most celebrities turn their cheek to situations like this because they are afraid of the backlash. Lili spoke up because the damaging effects it can have on people was more important to her than maintaining an acceptable image to everyone.
Brooke I feel like there is a fundamental difference of Lili complaining about her pimples and Kim kardashian speaking about the possibly dangerous drastic measures she took to lose a large amount of weight in a short time. Especially since eating disorders can cause long lasting health issues and potentially death… Complaining about Lili an her clearly oblivious comments about how her “acne” causes her to feel completely takes away from the very important message that we do not need to engage in harmful activities or habits to change our appearance. Also what’s the point in even comparing the two? Let’s protect young people with a better message
I think Kim at least disclosing that she had to lose weight in order to fit in the dress was good, because at least it’s somewhat honest about the fact that she does not look like that all the time, and kinda shows what celebrities have to do to maintain a certain image. but the way she talked about it so casually like it was a cute or normal thing for someone to do is just weird and definitely not okay. young girls should be aware of what Kim does to look like that, but also not feel that they themselves should try it.
@@savannahlisonbee1202 very true I agree! I don’t like putting celebrities on a pedestal and force them to be perfect since we are all only human, but I do think as adults we all have (celebrities and non-celebrities) responsibilities to take down the theory of you are only valid if you look a certain way.
the fact that kim didn’t originally fit in the dress should have been the first sign that she shouldn’t have worn it !! also don’t think that what she did is comparable to actors losing weight for a role bc those are jobs where the transformation is required to complete the job… but Kim going to the met wasn’t a job. obviously it’s a big event for her but she’s not required to go, she’s not getting paid for showing up (it’s a charity event), the only thing required is to be on theme (which she didn’t even do). her and her family certainly perpetuate unrealistic body images, but also I don’t think this is the craziest thing she’s ever done tho it still isn’t great.
brooke ur teeth don't look weird at all!! i was actually wondering what looked a little different about you today but i couldn't put my finger on it, i thought you maybe just did your hair differently but it was def the teeth! i never even noticed the gaps before and you still look lovely as ever, but just thought i'd share since i know i like people to notice when i've changed something up with my look lol
When I was super depressed and in a dark place my crushes and obsession with kpop bands got super extreme. When i'm in a good place I am less into it. I am very thankful for GOT7 getting me through hard times. I am a girl I am on anxiety meds. thank you.
i relate to conor’s reality of just not giving a shit ab what celebrities do bc they’re in a different world and it’s all a bit goofy . i feel like i’m lucky to have that perspective bc being so affected by every celebrity happening and image sounds so fucking exhausting
I really don’t agree with what was said about the whole Kim Kardashian thing. When someone like her has the amount of influence that she does, especially on young girls, I don’t think that she should be announcing that she practically starved herself to the whole world. This is continuing to normalize disordered eating, and it’s not okay. It can be taken the wrong way by those who are growing up and/or uneducated. Also, about the whole Lili Reinhart and acne thing, body dysmorphia exists. Just because someone is conventionally attractive doesn’t make their insecurities any less valid. For people with body dysmorphia, it’s almost impossible to recognize how other people see you. She was also probably so heated about the Kim Kardashian thing because she could’ve potentially struggled with an eating disorder. I personally have, and hearing a celebrity publicly announce that they starved themselves to fit into a dress IS honestly disgusting. It can also be triggering to those recovering. I really don’t think it’s an attack on women, either… when Phoenix did it, it was quite different. However, if it were the same scenario as Kim, but a man, then I’m pretty sure the people who were offended by it would not change their mind…
I definitely disagree with Brooke’s take on the Iim Kardashian situation. Kim is already idealized for her beauty and for setting the newest fashion or body trends. Her losing so much weight so quickly will make other people either 1) think doing something like that is okay or 2) make people who have trouble losing weight or people who have a history of disordered eating feel insecure or less-than. In terms of what you were saying about actors/actresses losing large amounts of weight within short periods of time for roles: I also believe this is unhealthy and unnecessary.
Same. I don’t think Lily was being unsupportive of women by calling out Kim K (and other celebrities) for going on insane diets to fit in a DRESS. Clothes should accommodate our bodies and not the other way around… It’s pretty dangerous to insist that only certain body sizes are MET Gala ready especially when Kim was so small anyway. Yeah I hope Lily continues to call out men in the industry too but just because she didn’t call out men in the same post doesn’t invalidate what she says about Kim.
Connor, look into getting botox in your masseter! I used to have the same problem with my jaw, and the botox basically froze that muscle from grinding it subconsciously. Make sure you go to a good medical spa/good injector - I'm sure there's plenty in LA!
But the dress is suppost to be a piece of history!! An iconic symbol of Marilyn Monroe as a powerful figure literally like 2 Weeks before she died. Who could care less how much weight kim lost to fit in it, its the act of renting it out and parading around in it. Create a dress inspired by or pay tribute to.... don't flex ur oligarchy status by being able to rent out something with massive historical and mystic value just for the sake of being able to do it.
The stylists pick what they want the celeb to wear normally so whoever had the Marilyn Monroe dress likely presented it as a business proposition to Kim seeing if she wanted to wear it. If a dress is what needs to be preserved from Marilyns life then you're pretty much saying that was her greatest accomplishment. I have my Aunts shirts but I wear them because I have more from her that means so much more. Ik Marilyn is famous and my aunt is it but I'm js. It's just a dress. Yall just hate the Kardashians for no real reason other than others hate them too.
@@kayteebarga9694 so why didnt she choose to wear the replica all night instead of wear a dress that belongs in a museum? oh because kim wanted to flaunt her wealth by wearing a dress valued at millions, ew. no matter how careful you might be, it would be so easy to sweat, get makeup on the dress, etc. She should have just worn the dress that was made to fit her body and say it was Marilyn inspired.
Your absolutely right girl. People see that shit when there younger and it makes them reflect on themselfs negatively. And its hard and takes years to fix that damage.
I 100% see where brooke is coming from, my issue with Kim K is that she is what society has deemed the sex icon of our generation & ideal body type. To know that and then go forward with saying how you lost 16 pounds in 3 weeks seems super harmful to me, especially with how many people already struggle with ED’s and body image. I think thats why Lily called her out. I agree with brooke on Lily’s acne thing, especially as someone who is on accutane currently for cystic acne. However there is a difference in my mind because hearing Kim say that will cause a lot of women to try to do what she did which is so harmful, Lily saying that about her acne isn’t necessarily encouraging or causing ED’s
The mental illness/celebrity crush pipeline is so true I feel like when things are going well for me in my head I don’t care as much but it was more when things were really bad that I clung to media I liked more than crushes and all I could talk about was my favorite tv show
Fun fact: spring time has the highest rate of suicides because of the manic effect it has on people who suffer with depression! I have several best friends dads whom have killed themselves during spring time and know numerous people with spring time suicide attempts. So just know Brooke, you’re not alone and a lot of people are dealing with this spring swing depression, myself included. Love the pod guys, keep ‘em coming ♥️
idk if someone's answered this yet but "5 de mayo" commemorates the battle between mexico and france in the state of puebla during the second french intervention caused by really big debt country had which the president at the time (benito juárez) announced we were not paying to multiple countries including france which caused all of this and mexico won. we just get a day off work/school but we don't celebrate or do anything special for it
Coming from the perspective of someone that does struggle with an eating disorder, im gonna have to disagree with brooke here slightly. The difference in between those specific actors losing a huge amount of weight and kim/models losing the weight is that most times, when these actors are losing that weight is that firstly, they portraying a character. On top of that, that character usually isn’t mentally well. Wether that is due to drugs or a certain mental illness that is inhibiting them from taking proper care of themselves, there is a reason for that character to be unhealthy thin. In the case of kim, she is doing it to fit in a dress (and in consequence look a certain way) and she isn’t playing a character. she presents herself as herself, kim, who downplays the impact of losing weight quickly. I think people of influence (or not of influence) losing drastic amounts of weight is always an issue, and the way lili reacted was also out of line. actors losing weight very quickly and in unhealthy ways is still very problematic, but i think that in this case what kim did is a lot worse.
Cinco de Mayo celebrates a big victory the Mexicans won in a war with France. I think the French invasion was at the same time as the US civil war so people here don’t really remember it.
Brooke, loosing weight to fit into a dress (which is something a lot of girls can relate to: you know, an event where you wear a pretty dress to) is NOT the same as loosing weight to interpret a role. She didn’t make money off wearing a dead woman’s dress, it was a moment of self aggrandizing… Even if you support her wearing a the dress… it’s still not the same as getting a role in a movie. SHE payed to wear the dress, it wasn’t the other way around. And her starving herself to fit into it, and then speaking about it publicly and discussing NUMBERS (which is triggering to a lot of ppl dealing with ED) was disgusting.
Valen, I’m saying this respectfully but why is it a problem if she lost the weight though? It’s her body, so she should be able to choose what she does with it. She really wanted to fit into an iconic dress and did what she had to do to make that happen. She didn’t lie and say that she fit into the dress from the beginning. She was transparent and said, "I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn't starve myself, but I was so strict." She’s neither promoting nor endorsing that as a lifestyle, she’s simply describing what she did to get from point A to point B. This is a sincere and genuine question: do you feel like Kim actively PROMOTING this diet rather than simply describing it? I agree with Brooke. It’s similar to a movie role, and we need to hold men to the same standard. Men get to lose weight (or, inversely, gain an incredible amount of muscle for a role that can only come from steroid use) and not be held to the same standard. Peace & love xx
@@amydunnestanaccount7041 you don’t have to “promote” something to normalize dangerous behavior. Describing the way she over-regulated her diet just to contort her already small frame into an even smaller dress suggests that only certain body sizes are MET Gala ready. In any case, Kim (and the rest of the Karjenners) are such huge influencers amongst women right now so to insist that “describing her diet” has no effect on their followers is just naive
@@helloalexandraa I’m just not understanding how this is normalizing it. She’s not saying she does this every day to maintain a skinny frame - she said it was specifically to fit into Marilyn’s dress. If she said she does that routine every day to maintain her figure and suggests other women do it too, perhaps I’d feel differently.
@@morganspourskoller63 it is promoting it... Kim has a huge impact on beauty standards and she's enforcing what's already an ideal. Plus, eating NO sugars and NO carbs is starvation!! Your body cannot get what you need through veg alone
My grandma had trauma-induced schizophrenia after a horrible car accident. Afterwards, she saw birds in strange places and planes talked to her. This could have been more traumatic than you think it. Take care of yourselves!♡
She was saying “everyone’s entitled to their insecurities” but also “you’re conventionally attractive and are recognized as such, you can only speak about your body in a certain way.” Does not at all matter how the rest of society sees her, it’s about how she sees herself. Lili has talked extensively about her body dysmorphia for YEARS. But because brooke doesn’t see Lili’s acne as a big enough deal, lili’s feelings about her own acne aren’t valid and deserve to be yelled at about? No, girl. That ain’t Also a false equivalencies all around. Fitting into a historic dress for one night, when it already didnt fit her (and she ended up damaging the dress) vs losing weight for a role for a movie is not the same (neither helathy but actors are given a lot of time to do that, not sliming down in a matter of weeks). Nor is kim k doing what she did vs lili posting about her acting the same thing🤷🏻♀️ Sorry i replied 2 years late. I don’t watch this pod and it was just sent to me today😂
Ah man! I want “The Worst Day of Square Dancing is Better Than the Best Day at Work” merch! Also, I’ll take a coffee cup with a picture of the planet Mercury (in retrograde) on it, next to the words “Put that sh** back in normal mode!”
hi yall love the pod always just wanted to say the kardashian take was maybe a lil too hot. she just did not have to wear that dress. i feel clothes are meant to fit you rather than you needing to fit into the clothes. no one was forcing her to wear that dress and she could have maybe had someone remake it to be her size idk. but to be in the public eye and tell people you lost that kind of weight and that rapidly is so dangerous!! it already happens with young girls trying to “look good for prom”. So seeing that kim k did it is probably negatively influencing a lot of people and creating disordered eating habits. the better move is to wear something that fits your body as is and promote body positivity or better yet body neutrality.
Yes Brooke, you’re wrong with the Lily take. You say anyone is entitled to feel insecure yet you hate her for how YOU feel by comparing yourself to her. She did not target you, she just shared her feelings and insecurities.
i have such differing opinions on so many things compared to brooke and connor and perhaps that is why i continue to listen. like our lives and worldviews are so different?? wild
But I also feel like the thing with Brooke, and with what Lili is talking about, is basically about famous ppl as role models and the biggest thing is just making sure kids/teens/adults DONT view famous people as who to model themselves after. Model it after your mom, a grandparent, a teacher, whatever. Celebs are so detached from reality, sometimes get to where they are on more suspect circumstances (ex. family connections, sex tapes, exploiting workers, etc), and are often times just living their truth. Their truth is so different from normal people’s truth, so by allowing ppl to constantly compare themselves to celebs, people will always get upset about the celebs actions
you know what brooke. you started off rocky with “people nowadays” so i was a little scared. but you’re so right. hollywood and outside PRAISED AND STILL DO PRAISE christian bale for losing weight, than gaining, then becoming ripped. so tired of the connotation that plastic surgery is BAD. and though when people lie about having a bbl without getting the surgery (even though they did) but yes. ofc mommy kim isn’t perfect. but people actively hate her for underlying insecurities that kim isn’t hot. even though she is.

They also need to think about how they talk about their bodies and be transparent about all the surgeries they’ve had to achieve them
not Connor CHEWING through the phone sleeve
loved hearing brooke talk about what ocd really is because it’s so misunderstood and i feel crazy trying to explain it to people
I think for me the issue w the Kardashians is that Kim K is held up as a beauty standard that we should emulate where Mathew mcanahagh and other men are held up as impressive but not something that is hot and that other men should do.
Just got outa work and here’s a nice new pod, big ups
brooke you look amazing and more confident than ever!! connor my dude, your drip is fire. thank y’all so much for making my thursdays
connor i'm so sorry for your neighbor and however it happened is so sad but i'm just imagining you trying to leap over the body bag at the bottom of your stairs like crossing a stream in the woods n i'm having a hard time not giggling a bit... again rip ur neighbor i hope he's loving being a tiny little bird spirit
I agree. Actors are being paid for their roles, while Kim paid for her role essentially.
Okay this is the same as male actors getting shredded for movies like superheros, stop being soft
So glad I’ve finally found a new wholesome podcast to watch 🥺💖🫶🏻
the fact that kim didn’t originally fit in the dress should have been the first sign that she shouldn’t have worn it !! also don’t think that what she did is comparable to actors losing weight for a role bc those are jobs where the transformation is required to complete the job… but Kim going to the met wasn’t a job. obviously it’s a big event for her but she’s not required to go, she’s not getting paid for showing up (it’s a charity event), the only thing required is to be on theme (which she didn’t even do). her and her family certainly perpetuate unrealistic body images, but also I don’t think this is the craziest thing she’s ever done tho it still isn’t great.
brooke ur teeth don't look weird at all!! i was actually wondering what looked a little different about you today but i couldn't put my finger on it, i thought you maybe just did your hair differently but it was def the teeth! i never even noticed the gaps before and you still look lovely as ever, but just thought i'd share since i know i like people to notice when i've changed something up with my look lol
Okay the bird story is something else. I was in the middle of smoking a blunt but Jesus that is one of the craziest coincidences ever.
This is my favorite, I love your hot takes
When I was super depressed and in a dark place my crushes and obsession with kpop bands got super extreme. When i'm in a good place I am less into it. I am very thankful for GOT7 getting me through hard times. I am a girl I am on anxiety meds. thank you.
i relate to conor’s reality of just not giving a shit ab what celebrities do bc they’re in a different world and it’s all a bit goofy . i feel like i’m lucky to have that perspective bc being so affected by every celebrity happening and image sounds so fucking exhausting
when ever i’m aggressively anxious i get high and watch the podcast and i feel like i’m with y’all and forget about my problems
Perfect thing to open RUclips to after such a long day
Connor, look into getting botox in your masseter! I used to have the same problem with my jaw, and the botox basically froze that muscle from grinding it subconsciously. Make sure you go to a good medical spa/good injector - I'm sure there's plenty in LA!
I enjoy this podcast so much.
I look forward to this podcast every week y’all! Love love love
the editor's note from Cheyenne was the cutest thing ever
i am so obsessed with this podcast to an unhealthy extent
from the title i’m just imagining jared leto with kim k’s body and it’s funny haha. i promise i’m sane
She also wore it for like 2 minutes then changed into a replica.
The bird was definitely sent by the old man’s spirit!!!
Brooke must be shaking with Lili Reinhart and Jack lmfao
yesssss fav pod time !
Your absolutely right girl. People see that shit when there younger and it makes them reflect on themselfs negatively. And its hard and takes years to fix that damage.
annoyed at how many ads there are but so proud of brooke and connor for getting their bags
Immediately subscribe. Immediately subscribe. I've seen what I needed to see and now I'm subscribed.
Justice for country music!
This was the best podcast so far entirely because of the article…
I 100% see where brooke is coming from, my issue with Kim K is that she is what society has deemed the sex icon of our generation & ideal body type. To know that and then go forward with saying how you lost 16 pounds in 3 weeks seems super harmful to me, especially with how many people already struggle with ED’s and body image. I think thats why Lily called her out. I agree with brooke on Lily’s acne thing, especially as someone who is on accutane currently for cystic acne. However there is a difference in my mind because hearing Kim say that will cause a lot of women to try to do what she did which is so harmful, Lily saying that about her acne isn’t necessarily encouraging or causing ED’s
connor maybe the bird is trying to get you to solve his murder
omg true
The mental illness/celebrity crush pipeline is so true I feel like when things are going well for me in my head I don’t care as much but it was more when things were really bad that I clung to media I liked more than crushes and all I could talk about was my favorite tv show
I think this was my favorite episode so far😂
Fun fact: spring time has the highest rate of suicides because of the manic effect it has on people who suffer with depression! I have several best friends dads whom have killed themselves during spring time and know numerous people with spring time suicide attempts. So just know Brooke, you’re not alone and a lot of people are dealing with this spring swing depression, myself included. Love the pod guys, keep ‘em coming ♥️
f*ck these comments love u guys and the pod
idk if someone's answered this yet but "5 de mayo" commemorates the battle between mexico and france in the state of puebla during the second french intervention caused by really big debt country had which the president at the time (benito juárez) announced we were not paying to multiple countries including france which caused all of this and mexico won. we just get a day off work/school but we don't celebrate or do anything special for it
Now that country is back in I’m just waiting for alternative like Bowling for soup to be in style, that genre gives me such a good vibe
Love this show. Love you guys.
Exercise is definitely needed
Would absolutely loveeee for y’all to come to New Orleans!!!!!
Cinco de Mayo celebrates a big victory the Mexicans won in a war with France. I think the French invasion was at the same time as the US civil war so people here don’t really remember it.
Weird how Mexicans don’t ever celebrate it
Brooke, loosing weight to fit into a dress (which is something a lot of girls can relate to: you know, an event where you wear a pretty dress to) is NOT the same as loosing weight to interpret a role.
I don’t understand this bc if I talk about what I do to keep fit am I promoting what I do? No I’m just… saying how I exercise and eat..
@@morganspourskoller63 it is promoting it... Kim has a huge impact on beauty standards and she's enforcing what's already an ideal. Plus, eating NO sugars and NO carbs is starvation!! Your body cannot get what you need through veg alone
as a white person I do dislike country music and i’m not sorry. most of those songs are boring and lame. anyway
Brooke is a bad girlie peace and love
That email story had me rolling. Finger tips, teeth, blood, and puke all in the span of 3 min
My grandma had trauma-induced schizophrenia after a horrible car accident. Afterwards, she saw birds in strange places and planes talked to her. This could have been more traumatic than you think it. Take care of yourselves!♡
It’s 1:30 am and I am laughing hysterically I love you guys
Brooke the Kim thing is so much different than men losing weight for roles. I also think your explanation for your dislike for lily was not great 😑
She was saying “everyone’s entitled to their insecurities” but also “you’re conventionally attractive and are recognized as such, you can only speak about your body in a certain way.”
Does not at all matter how the rest of society sees her, it’s about how she sees herself. Lili has talked extensively about her body dysmorphia for YEARS. But because brooke doesn’t see Lili’s acne as a big enough deal, lili’s feelings about her own acne aren’t valid and deserve to be yelled at about? No, girl. That ain’t
Also a false equivalencies all around. Fitting into a historic dress for one night, when it already didnt fit her (and she ended up damaging the dress) vs losing weight for a role for a movie is not the same (neither helathy but actors are given a lot of time to do that, not sliming down in a matter of weeks). Nor is kim k doing what she did vs lili posting about her acting the same thing🤷🏻♀️
Sorry i replied 2 years late. I don’t watch this pod and it was just sent to me today😂
the comments a little hostile today
Yeah fr. Like why comment? just click away.
I don’t see anything
I love Brooke so much she's so relatable. Love Connor too!!
Connor was exceptionally funny in this episode
“i feel clothes are meant to fit you rather than you needing to fit into the clothes” hi um yes I LOVE THIS
Brooke is moving higher and higher on my tier list, I'm so in love lmao
truly the only podcast i can watch with a male cohost
Yes Brooke, you’re wrong with the Lily take. You say anyone is entitled to feel insecure yet you hate her for how YOU feel by comparing yourself to her. She did not target you, she just shared her feelings and insecurities.
Literally so hypocritical lol the way she reacted was how Lili reacted to Kim. When it’s a personal trigger is when it feels valid
i have such differing opinions on so many things compared to brooke and connor and perhaps that is why i continue to listen. like our lives and worldviews are so different?? wild
Connor saying "cock" just to make Brooke laugh is so pure
loving this OCD representation thx brooke I’m feeling Seen
Connor, check out the book 'The Tenant' by Katherine Engberg!!! It's literally the story you just told about your apartment 😂
When Brooke said I’m anti vitamin I screamed
you know what brooke. you started off rocky with “people nowadays” so i was a little scared. but you’re so right. hollywood and outside PRAISED AND STILL DO PRAISE christian bale for losing weight, than gaining, then becoming ripped. so tired of the connotation that plastic surgery is BAD. and though when people lie about having a bbl without getting the surgery (even though they did) but yes. ofc mommy kim isn’t perfect. but people actively hate her for underlying insecurities that kim isn’t hot. even though she is.
love you guys
the way i love these two is unhealthy
I think I’m gonna have to disagree with Brooke on her Kim and Lili takes this time
This is not the first time I’ve heard of birds visiting after someone has passed!!
Waaaait that makes so much sense about the chewing
I fully have to remove myself if i hear swallowing like genuine rage builds
agreed on the kardashian take and all your other takes Brooke. And connors take of he likes transparency.
Personally I have a very _interesting_ relationship with country music. I grew up with it playing around me a _lot._ Thus a shit-ton of 90s country music holds a super special place in my heart!
Having said that, country music _really_ isn’t my preferred genre. N cot by a _lot,_ in fact. lol. To grant a touch more clarity, I should say that, if I were only able to consume music via the radio, the country station is _absolutely_ ONE of the very last stations that I would put on.
Now, having said all of *THAT* (lol) I must also point out that, to me, a good song is a good song, regardless of genre! So there are _plenty_ of bomb ass country songs, including current ones, that I _very much_ enjoy! I’m just not able to listen multiple country songs in a row. _Especially_ if all/most of them are songs that I’m not familiar with.
So, there’s my personal stance on country music. To anyone who bothered reading all of this: you’re welcome! I’m sure that you all give many, *many* fucks about this topic! lol
love you guys sm
We had those magnetic yondr pockets (the sleeve) in high school and people just opened the magnet through sheer force until almost all of them were broken and unusable
