awesome doco, hes low key OCD, instead blurbing loudly vulgarity over each scene like noted celebrity chef Gordon R, this is slow quiet doco pacing a highly accomplished chef retirring from limelight make ways for his creative team to grow, spoiler with his open spot for pastry chef is inspiring, and supporting spouse with their cute bao/bun eating child 😉

I'm looking forward to giving this a watch, I love Chef shows. Honestly, what drew me in though is the olive tree (I have an Olive tree that holds my 1st dog Oliver's ashes, needless to say, I'm emotionally attached to it) so I'm hoping the tree actually plays significance lol.

I really wonder if using Michelin as a career goal is a good idea for chefs starting out. Michelin recognises a certain type of food, certain type of restaurant. The world of food is very diverse and Michelin cannot recognise all of it properly. Good, humble street fare can be as satisfying as any high end restaurant.

correct. And interestingly he’s Taiwanese but spent his formative years studying French cuisine and obsessing over a French culinary award. Even his English name is a French one. What does that say about his own identity?

I really like this documentary, but music not used in the film actually should not be used in trailer too.

i enjoyed this documentary but his marriage is in trouble....their body language is offf...he seems completely uninterested in his wife. It was sad to watch their awkward interactions. Very amazingly talented chef though.

It's boring don't watch it....they talk about this chef's life...and not about cuisine. Also he is reluctant to allow SINGLE occupancy even if he's at SINGLE OCCUPANCY. He didn't make much mOnie ... so he "retired."

The title of this film is literally ANDRE and HIS olive tree. So why would it not be about ANDRE or are you just illiterate.

His wife is so annoying. No wonder why he can’t stand her.
