Been watching Luke Holland for 3 years, before anyone knew who he was. Now I've watched him evolve into quite possibly the best drummer of this generation, and he is touring with one of my favorite bands. This guy, is my idol.
I'll be moving between the pit and the bar mostly, but there are a couple of songs I'll just be watching as I want to see how Luke and Ben do them on drums.
The Word Alive is one of those bands that never gets old, no matter if it's the old stuff or new stuff. It's all great to listen to. Too bad they don't play Apologician or Lights and Stones live
1:49 Such a badass scream right there! 2:26 Tony is a Ballerina, Your argument is invalid. Dragon Spell was next! F*ck yeah I love this band \m/ SO DOES MY MOM
Yea Texas In July is pretty mediocre, but the drumming is pretty great. Luke can also play Matt Halpern's stuff, just look at his covers. And I do play drums, almost for 2 years now
Again..don't judge him off the song mercy, i mean have you heard the original song mercy? It's terrible, idk how people can call that music...as much as i love TWA that cover was terrible, and i believe it was because of the song
Until you get endorsed by very popular brands such as Meinl cymbals, I dont want to hear it. He's better than you'll ever be and I bet he's younger than you too. To call TWA a mediocre band is quite childish since they're pretty talented. If they weren't they would have never been signed. What part was sloppy? He's a really solid drummer. He may be nothing like JP Bouvet or Terry Bozzio but he's amazing at what he does.
Like I said before, apart from the covers on youtube which are, quite frankly, okay, the only thing I have to go off of is the Mercy song. And apart from being a generally awful song, I was not impressed at all by his drumming. Hopefully, TWA release a song showcasing Luke a bit more. Until then, however, I am set on my position.
Here is the single problem i have with you "dissing" luke holland, yes i get that you may be frustrated with everybody on his dick and all, but this album that they just released...Holland was not a part of it so none of the tracks drum wise are his original doings. So i understand your frustrating, but at the same time lay off until he can do some of his own work.
Yes he can play Periphery. Many people can play Periphery, myself included. Takes a bit of practice, but it's definitely doable. But I said Hellpern drums circles around Luke, and that's my exact point. Luke is not a bad drummer. But he's not amazing, or even solid drummer. He's flashy but very sloppy live. Until he can break free of TWA's vicious cycle of mediocre mediocore, and shows something noteworthy in regards to innovation, then I will look at him as a solid, but unimpressive, drummer.
I understand that full well. But understand me: Luke is a good drummer. But from what I have seen, I am not impressed. The Mercy cover? The only noteworthy part was at 3:40 in, with his ghost notes and tom improvisation. Again, I'm not 'dissing' Luke. Far from it, I respect him and I think he is hella talented. But to say he is a godsend? To say he is 'amazing' or 'the best young drummer in metal'? Sorry, I don't buy it, not for a second. Then again, opinions are awesome in and of themselves.
I had a deal with Shine until they with under, and I'm currently in the process of securing a package with Truth. Endorsements mean nothing. There are countless drummers that have SJC, Vater, or other companies behind them. TWA is mediocre. Plenty of talent, just playing forgettable music. Ergo, forgettable and average tunes. And being 'talented' =/= signed. There are plenty of shit signed bands and awesome unsigned ones. And if you don't want to hear my points, then don't comment. Period.
Oh, I'm sorry, filling in for a mediocore band is impressive now? Damn, did not know that. I never said Luke was a bad drummer. All I said was that he is not special at all. His fills and bass drum patterns are what make him slightly above average. And even with that, I know tons of drummers who can and will go leaps and bounds over this guy. Lee Stanton, Matt Halpern, etc. Y'know, I doubt you play drums, but that's besides the point

I'm seeing them tomorrow night, and if this gives me an idea of how amazing they'll be, I can't wait!
One of the best Metalcore bands these days for sure!
Fantastic quality as usual, thanks rtmconcerts!

God, i'm so proud of Luke getting into this band
I'll be moving between the pit and the bar mostly, but there are a couple of songs I'll just be watching as I want to see how Luke and Ben do them on drums.
The scream at 1:49... I wish I could do that. And that Techno breakdown....

2:26 Tony is a Ballerina, Your argument is invalid.
Dragon Spell was next! F*ck yeah I love this band \m/ SO DOES MY MOM
He left along with the old drummer.
Yeah mate me and 3 other guys are going, we can hook up when you get there?
WOuaw :o
TWA Is All!
TeamTWA:)
I didn't know tony did lows!
How are they under rated?
he was putting up his first videos when he was 16 years old, now he´s 19 equals 3 years or not?
because not as many rock/metal listeners know them as well as Metallica, Slipknot, Slayer, Iron Maiden and etc
London?
bc they don't get the appreciation and attention they deserve
So there was a bar at the concert?
3:45 bottle flies. Lmao
Bar?
By the way we're all around 24
They are the band The word alive, not Luke Holland and friends....
um, more light on Luke please. Thanks
i see you failed to see the one handed fill at 1:35
Bar
@WoeIsKennedy Before anyone knew who he was. Well aren't you cool.

are you even reading this conversation properly?
I believe he left the band.
No. Thats not what I 'thiink', that's what I know.
This is too easy for Luke
Thats what you thiink.
lol
luke holland. that is all
Rudiments. Anyone with basic drumming aptitude can do a one-handed tripletto bass drum fill.

you talk like you were picked up by The Word Alive. When you become Adam Gray's fill-in, come talk to me.
He's good. Nothing special.

Comments that aged like milk

He is really good. But seriously? Drummer of the generation. Nope nope nope.
