It looks like the ditch water is lower than the standing water in your lawn so you could possibly get a few more inches of well-drained-soil if you had swells to lower that water-table on the surface of the yard.

Got 9.45 inches in Rising Star TX lots of running water through the whole town it was ankle deep and inside my raised bed garden the water was 2 ft deep but this morning my tomato and tomatillo volunteers were fine. It's all sand here so the water is gone fast when it comes like this. Prayers please for those who had water running through their businesses and homes!

Army worms...That is what is taking out my squash.😒 The size you showed on here, is just about as big as mine get before they DIVE in and go to eating. So, I keep going out and snatching them tiny. Otherwise, I would not get any. All these birds...GET THE BUGS and not my plants. The crows have been chowing on my winter squash.. But, you are right, the greenhouse seems to be the only place that I can keep things somewhat protected. I am GRATEFUL to have it.

Good Lord we here in central Texas need some of that beautiful rain you are being inundated with. I used some cayenne pepper spray last night on my cuc plants and no aphids this morning. Sprayed coughing the entire time but it’s worth it.

Hey Jill, This rain has been crazy! Up north of you here (near Gainesville, tx) we have gotten a lot of rain too. So much so that my poor little lemon cucumber and my Straight 8 cukes are turning yellow from too much rain. We have sandy loam soil and it does drain pretty well, as well as my additional compost amendments, but so far it has been no match for all this water. We will be begging for it in a couple of months tho, I am sure. I hope it won't be too late to get my cukes replanted here in zone 8a if these don't make it. Lovin all your videos of your awesome setup.

I'm in SE TX and have new paths in my yard where the rain started draining.
I picked about half a bushel of peaches today and had to stand in water. I thought the skeeters were going to carry me away.
Most of the peaches had rotten spots on the end. Of course, I had some squirrel damage. I just haven't gotten to go out with all the rain.
My peanuts are on top of the ground now but are sprouting so I'm hoping for the best 😁
I'm glad y'all are doing good. I was wondering if you got the rain we did.
My dad is a few miles down the road and he got hail that made hubby's corn look beaten along with the tators and peas.

Totally unrelated to the storm, but I heard you mention your chicken coop. Do you keep guineas or chickens? If so, I would love for you to share a little about them. We can’t even walk around our blueberry bushes this year without deer ticks getting on our legs. OFF with Deet helps, but my husband wants to get some guineas to eat the ticks. I am going to research what is involved with raising guineas (in Alabama). Love ya!

I am saving water from this rain that we’ve had three or four days now I’m in Houston
I do feel bad for all the others. I’ve been praying. It’s real depressing to see the news, but it is real and Kingwood peach Creek and all of them out there too much. It’ll cause disease plants so wet feet is not good. 🌱🌱🌱

I found that Dr Earth's pump bottle fertilizer fixes blossom end rot in my tomatoes and peppers in raised beds. I put one pump per plant and water it in good. Expensive but I only do it once a year. I don't know if there's an option to get it in larger quantities
