NAccording to me, there is nothing wrong with using the word "nyùkwa" cos it is an original Kikuyu word which is has been used negatively in abusive way. In fact it just means "your mother". Your father is "thoguo", your cùcù is "ùcùgu" . Then your brother " mùrù wa (aa) nyùkwa" sister "mwarì wa nyùkwa" etc. Just as you cannot call your sister your "mum's daughter" or ati "mwarì wa maniguo" kana sister yakwa cos "sister" is not Kikuyu. Please let's learn to speak and appreciate proper Kikuyu without substituting most Kikuyu words with English words. Some people will tell you (thia thia nìguo ùtuìke "comfortable" correct way is "nìguo ùikare wega" ).
I have gotten the meaning of the word Nyukwa from a kikuyu elder : Nyukwa means Nyungu (that is the uterus and Kwa means the breaking of the ribs when a woman is giving birth (Now is Nyungu kwa and all of your were born through that. It is not a bad name as people think
