Jaco knows a lot about the game and will definitely be a big asset to the Bok team, especially that we know that Word Rugby are really trying to create speed bumps for the Boks on and off the field.
You will never know he might be a coach in the future.

Springboks pushing the envelope of innovation again. Love it. And what a great guy. Always enjoyed his reffing and the way he communicated. I think Jaco will make a massive difference to the Boks.

Mathew is very good with his line of questioning, impresive really, i have always felt like great rugby nations like SA and NZ will somehow rob the referees of the opportunity of refereeing a final at a world cup ,but hearing Jaco say he hoped not to referee a final because it will rob the nation of a big celebration is a different perspective and is to a larger extent more beneficial than what thou😅

I hope that as rugby fans we can support and nurture our referees; they are a vital part of the game and I think rugby benefits from the human element of refereeing, in a way that significantly outweighs any negatives

Hats off to Jaco for a GREAT career and representing SA on an international level, and to the other SA ref's that is doing this !! I agree with Jaco, critics going personal is a "no-go zone", keep it professional and to the point of what is causing the conflict, so it can HOPEFULLY be resolved constructively.

Would love to hear a referee view on 2 white cards per captain per half, which they can refer to the TMO. The referee has “no” access to the TMO and call it as they see with the AR. This will put the focus on the teams to play clean and clear games and focus on them to call controversial issues. The focus will not be on the Referee. If the captain / team are correct they retain the card else loose the card.

"ref's, teams, and coaches sign off"
This is the problem. If there is a clear understand of how these key moment are/will be refereed, why not hold pre-match press conferences like they do in boxing/ufc/etc. Let the public know so that when Joe Soap looks at the these incidents where a ref is clearly overlooking certain actions, they then do not loose their minds because they did actually mention that in the press conference.

Smart move by the Boks. Even the optics is good, world rugby want to weaponise the game's laws against the brand of rugby the Boks play. So the Boks recruit a top ref to learn how to adapt. It's fkin Darwin man. The sparrow with the biggest beak gets the nuts yo.
