It is more limited that I expected.
I'm fine with not being able to select splits for different varients, but FFS if I've unlocked different splits for one varient, allow me to choose from those when customizing.
For example, I have the rain Wolverine split with a prism/kirby and another split for this varient ink/flare. So if it's the same card, I should be able to choose ink/Kirby. THAT would make this feature x3 more useful.
My question is -- will I be able in the future add effects (cracke/stardust/etc.) to a none-finish card (without any foil/prism/ink/etc. background)? I was really hoping to do that, as most of the card backgrounds are way cooler than any fishes.
Something I really liked is that we can technically "upgrade" a new variant for free. It's a good beginning but it does need some improvements
Ill take this as a w, we asked to be able to select our border and thats what it is. Mainly the ability to keep upgrading a card without losing a specific split combo.

I didn't know they confirmed any variant will be able to use unlocked splits, that's good. I do know they confirmed that we will be able to select original variant background later. So original BG + krackle for e.g.

As much as I like the full animation and shiny logo, I would really like if that gets customizible too! Some cards, especially inked look very good inside the frame.. And non shiny logo on the animated inks would probably look sick on many cards!
Would def be cool to have it be a toggle for those who want it

Fingers crossed that between card mastery and this we get close to a full blown card customization shop, that would essentially be a game within a game …
did they fix already all the deck builder and menu ui bugs??

Can you keep the default background while using these features? I don't think I was able to when I tried it.

It sounds like you can’t select default background with other effects right now, but they want to add it as an option eventually

It's basically the same shit... Just choose borders... That's it... If I got a nice gold finish with an ok effect already, I'm not spending glimmer or gold to keep splitting for a good effect... I got more chances to get krackle with rainbow finishes that with gold or ink so yeah it's the same shit and only for 1 variant of a card... If you have multiple good variants for let's say Ironman, you can only pick one custom variant... So fuck the rest of your collection variants
I can see them adding borders to the shop as a purchasable cosmetic which I'm perfectly okay with.
Yeah seems like a fine way to monetize cosmetics, i bet some will be a part of mastery unlocks too

It’s kinda embarrassing how they barely released this now as opposed to when it was PC launch day. This just seems like a desperate move on their part to keep players engaged. Idk 🤷♂️ a small W if that’s what they want, same with gold pass.
