I still have some BIG doubts. Yes, new dealerships seem great, on the surface. I believe the note holder is in control here and providing incentives to sell the Oceans and that money contributes to paying down on the note. The incentives are, evidently, significant enough for dealerships to have profit in selling that inventory. Since Fisker is no longer manufacturing new Oceans when that inventory is sold, that's it. I do not believe those dealerships will service the Ocean, in fact they won't have parts to do so. And I doubt they are trained in customer support. They are selling ONLY the inventory made available. Now it does appear that the Ocean is mechanically sound and built well. Also I believe the mechanical and electrical components are not exclusively engineered for the Ocean so can be sourced. The complication is to identify the component and where it can be sourced. Body panels, side mirrors, windshields, things like that are of concern. Operating systems. If Fisker rushes 3.0, etc. to market, as they appeared to have done with 1.11, then that is the issue with the Operating Systems. In fact, some have reported that it bricked, stranded their Oceans for those that don't know what brick is, when their 12v died during the new OS download. Even Windows OS downloads on computers tell you to keep your computer plugged in during updates and to not shut down during installs. I actually recommended that Ocean owners to NOT immediately install any new OS until others have reported great success with the newer OS. As 2.0 seems rather stable, do you risk being early adoption of a new OS to be continual testers of that new OS like you were with the FOO, or do you wait for the verdict on how others are doing? Not sure how to disconnect automated pushes of newer OS's on the Ocean but I prefer to do that vs. being a tester on new OS installs that may be rushed and have issues. So, in summary, I believe the mechanics of the Ocean are not an issue, BUT issues being related to body panels, etc. are an issue. The vulnerability is in the OS. Operating systems do not typically fail, no wear and tear, no mechanical movement. The risk being installing new, inadequately tested software with issues. The only real risk is for a user to stumble on some part of incomplete testing and have a software issue, BUT that can often be resolved by restarting that software via a hard or soft reset which reinitializes the OS, restarts the program. That usually will not brick the Ocean, or even any other device with an OS. That's my take on it.
@@darkmuspell and Magna and/or Fisker decided to fully invent the wheel (pun intended) and not use any standard electronics or mechanical components? That would be very time consuming and extremely expensive and add huge risk.
@@DaveDarin Depends on the definition, most of the time parts are similar or out of product families from the supplier but get specific alterations to fit the car.
