This version of this song always throws me right back to a specific moment in time and a specific person...this is the first time I could watch this whole video in over two years
It is an absolute shame this has only 21k views. This might be the best version of any song I've heard of theirs. Intimate, emotional, powerful, and no studio enhancements. Spread this around.
I've been trying to think of how best to describe what it's like listening to the stripped down version of this song. It's like... sometime after the first few lines, I realize having empathy is like being made of porcelain, and with each new note and nuance of love and heartbreak, there are little cracks occurring all over my emotional landscape, and I just have to accept that I'm going to be a crumbled pile of poignancy, mono no aware, and dayenu fragments by the time the last note fades out. The gratefulness and yearning wistfulness for a finite, past or passing moment while trying to adjust and cope with unmooring change resonates very strongly with me. It takes courage and vulnerability to make and share a song like this one. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to listen! Songs like this are why I love music. I'm already looking forward to their January concert in D.C.!
Heard this version on Sirius sat radio & was immediately obsessed & had to hear it again. Wish there was a studio recording on RUclips. This version puts the other to shame. It's just painful & beautiful. I love it.
Wow I just went through the most painful breakup thus far and wow. This captures every emotion as I sit in a pitch black bathroom and wonder what I can do
this version reminds me of The Other Side.....love the new album, and I'm ride or die with this band, but jesus in heaven is their old stuff bullshit amazing. what if nothing is ALSO bullshit amazing though. this band kicks my ass
Hey everyone I just uploaded a live version of this from the concert I went to! If you want to see Nick get in his emotions more and look at the camera then check it out
@@pabloandreverones8982 I don't know why but this kind of music reminds me of Super Mario videogames. Specially Odyssey, Galaxy, Mario Kart and Super Mario 64
Tonya Greenwood most definitely. there’s a couple of interviews where he says he had just recently broken up with someone he was with for awhile (he wrote about it on genius.com for the song description) so sad, I loved them together 😭💔

My god, I really hope they release as a bonus track or single. So much more emotion than the final product.
agree! major goosebumps
i need a full studio version of this masterpiece. the original was cool but this piano version just gave me chills. i'm emo i love it
never truly appreciate how good his voice was until now, each new song impresses me more with his vocals
I would prefer a piano only version as well. It was ridiculously good and much more emotional than the album version.

Same. It reminds me a lot of The Bleachers
